Chapter 284
Chapter 284
Today, we were moving some of our belongings into the new apartment. Mio, Kana, Elendir, and I had also purchased a lot of things that arrived by delivery. Furniture needed to be constructed, mailing address had to be updated with the local city hall, and I had paperwork to sign about my transfer to the new Tsuki in Tokyo.
"That will be all, Saeko! You are now director of the Tokyo Branch Tsuki. Have you chosen anyone to lead the one in Tsukiji yet?" Mr. Ishioka asked.
"I have a few in mind. I just need to talk to them when I get back," I said.
"Great! And the new Tsukiji? How are you coming along with staffing this one?" He looked at me expectantly.
"Er…"
Mr. Ishioka rested a consoling hand on my shoulder. He offered me a look of someone that had been in my place before, saddled with the responsibility of keeping an important function running.
The fact of the matter was, I still hadn't gotten the necessary number of succubus employees to properly staff the Tokyo Branch. Finding the hidden succubi was still on my to-do list, but Tokyo was an enormous place.
Reza, Emily, Selene, and Layla were on their way to help me find them. With only weeks left, I was on a time crunch to make sure the new Tsuki opened in time and without problems. Hopefully, the help of two greater succubi could sniff out lesser ones scattered over the city. As for Reza and Emily, the two were the only ones to have encountered the deserters. Having them along would make it an easier pill to swallow that I was a benevolent queen.
The last thing I wanted to do was to send them back to Elza. After all, years had gone by since they lived here now. All of them likely had lives of their own…
"I'm sure you will find a way. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to call me!" Mr. Ishioka gave me a thumbs up before leaving.
When I finally got work out of the way, I returned to the new apartment to see how the others were doing. Most of the furniture in the living room was only partially built, like they made it halfway and decided to give up. Tools and screws were strewn all over the place, too.
Shadow and Snowball were lounging on the cat tree together, both having become fast friends. My cat yawned and stretched, accidentally kicking Elendir's furball in the face.
"Uh. Where is everyone, Shadow?" I asked aloud.
"We're in here!" Mio shouted from my bedroom.
I followed her voice and found them lying side by side in the newly-built, comically-large bed together. It was the only furniture built. They weren't naked, and neither were they engaged in sexy time while I was away.
"What are you three doing? There's still a lot of furniture that needs to be put together in the living room," I said on the way in.
"We're seeing if the bed was big enough for all of us. Get your ass in here!" Mio insisted.
I rolled my eyes and decided to humor her. They scooted in to make room for me. From the left side of the bed to the right, it was Elendir, Kana, Mio, and then me. Even with all four of us, there was still plenty of wriggle room. In fact, the two of us on the sides could roll a little and not worry about falling off.
Finding a bed large enough to fit four people was tough. Juna Hoshino recommended we check out a website from an American manufacturer. I was floored just how large of a bed people from the states slept on. The one we ordered— that we were lying on now— was nine feet in width and length. Enormous, for sure.
"What's the verdict?" Mio asked.
"I feel quite at home in a bed as large as this. It has my seal of approval," Elendir said.
"I can already tell, getting out of bed is going to be an entire journey…" Kana groaned.
"At least you have your own room." I sighed, and shot a look to Mio. "Someone dubbed my room as the love nest. You won't have the bed taking up 60% of the real estate space!"
After confirming that we all sufficiently fit, they hopped off the bed to recommence building the rest of the furniture. Kana and Elendir had their own bedrooms with a normal sized bed, and Mio elected to migrate between our rooms.
Kana helped Mio with the two couches in the living room. I went in to see how Elendir was doing. The dark elven monarch had a mountain of clothes on her bed. She was folding the casual wear into a drawer and hanging formal and semi-formal outfits in the closet. Eventually, she pulled out a framed photograph of us together at the Okinawa beach and placed it on the nightstand. She didn't seem satisfied with its placement. Every now and then, she adjusted its position a little, fell into silent thought, erupt with a cute 'ah!' after finding the perfect place to set, and stared longingly at the picture.
I stood there at the door frame watching Elendir until she turned around.
"Oh, Saeko! You… How long have you been standing there?" Elendir blushed.
"Long enough to find out about an adorable side of you." I giggled.
"Guh…" She swallowed her embarrassment and stormed over to pull me inside. "Since you're here, perhaps you can help me. I have all these photos and seek your advice on where best to put them."
I glanced down at the suitcase only to see more framed photographs of us. My jaw dropped. There must be at least a hundred. An entire suitcase dedicated to pictures. As if that wasn't strange enough, every photo was from the Okinawa trip.
"I'm pretty sure we took a lot more pictures than this! Why are all these just from Okinawa? How did you even get all these?" I exclaimed.
"Mio tells me that human couples often keep physical photographs of each other. She took me to a place to get them printed. Back in Elza, the only time we obtain such keepsakes is by commissioning a painter and sitting for hours. What incredible magic your cameras possess," Elendir said, pulling out a digital camera of her own.
"It's not magic… but I guess it is pretty close."
I helped Elendir put up as many pictures as there were surfaces available, of which there weren't very many. We were going to have to buy a bookcase or shelving units, especially if she intended to put up more in the future. The dark elven woman looked so cute, leaning over her desk furnished with picture frames of us. Her gray hoodie hid most of the tasty assets underneath, but I couldn't help but feel peckish.
Luckily, the doorbell rang. Mio shouted from the living room that she was going to get it. Elendir and I came out of her bedroom just as the four succubi I was waiting for entered the apartment. Reza, the former renegade succubus. Emily, the futa-loving troublemaker. Selene, once a rival to me becoming the succubus queen. These three had been pain in the asses once, but now they were going to help in finding other rogue succubi. And… there was also Layla, the masochist.
"Did you guys bring Taco?" Mio asked.
"Sure did!" Emily set the cat carrier down and opened the latch.
Taco poked his head out of the cage and sniffed around. Shadow and Snowball finally left their cat tree perch, drawn by the smell of a new cat in their territory. Elendir's girl was sluggish since she was blind, trailing behind my cat by scent. Both of them cautiously approached Taco, who timidly backed away into the cage. As the youngest, he was much smaller than the other two.
Fortunately, the gentle nature of our cats gradually encouraged Taco out. He started play-pouncing on them, and they responded with like-minded enthusiasm, albeit holding back since the two were larger.
Mio snapped a dozen pictures a second until she realized a video would be much better.
"Are we ready to head out?" Selene asked.
"Yep. Let's find those succubi," I said.
"Have fun! Bring us back some food!" Mio waved me goodbye even though she could come along.
The five of us set out starting with Shinjuku since we were already here. We had a simple plan— fly to the center of each city, then fly outward in a pentagon to cover as much area as possible. Ideally, we should be able to discover a succubus or group in hiding this way. With myself, Selene, and Layla around, no lesser succubus would be able to hide from our auras.
Once one finds any succubi, we were not to meet them on our own immediately. Instead, everyone was to converge and confront them together. This eliminates any chances that they might escape or slip past any of us.
Layla looked particularly gung-ho today. She was bouncing with anticipation before we even began.
"Layla, your excitement is showing…" Selene chided.
"Eh? Is it so obvious? I'm just glad I can be of service to Queen Saeko! Hehe~ It's not every day she personally asks me to come to Earth for help." Layla beamed brightly.
"You're not going to let your masochistic side get the better of you, are you?" I raised a brow.
"Or course not! I may be a masochist, but I am also a greater succubus! I won't let you down," she promised.
"I believe you." I nodded, then turned to the others. "Remember: we're not trying to pick a fight with them. These succubi have been living here for as long as some of you. They have lives that they don't want upended. Alright, let's go!"
We took flight and split up in different directions. I flew south west while focusing entirely on my aura rather than my eyes. Sight was pointless. There were far too many people hidden behind every nook and cranny of such an enormous area.
I wasn't sure why, but my chest beat hard with an anticipation I hadn't felt in a while. For a long time now, I'd been the de facto queen succubus. They obeyed me simply because the hierarchy demanded it. This time, however, these succubi shunned being ruled. Beatrice, the one they rebelled against was dead, but could I get through to them? Anxiety gnawed at the back of my mind as much as my horniness did.
Before long, I'd reached the edge of Shinjuku city. Any farther, and I'd be in Shibuya. I sent a message to the group chat that I didn't find anyone. One by one, the others started checking in that they also didn't find anyone. Except Layla. She was the only one not to respond.
"So much for being in service to me, Layla." I groaned aloud.
We regrouped back at the center of Shinjuku and sure enough, Layla was missing.
"What happened to that idiot now?" Selene sighed into her hand.
"Uhm…" Emily pressed her fingers together nervously. "Layla is a greater succubus. If something happened to her, the succubi who defeated her must be really strong. D-Do we really have a chance?"
Reza slapped her hard on the back. "We're here to help Queen Saeko, not chicken out. If we're diving into the pits of hell, then you better be damn sure we're going in."
"Eh? Ehhhh?" She turned pale and cowered.
"That's a terrible example! For the record, I'm not sending anyone into the pits of hell. We'll retrace the direction Layla traveled. If the succubi are holding her hostage, at least we can finally make contact with them," I explained.
We flew together this time, heading north west. Mine and Selene's aura were expanded out at full force, trying to connect with any succubi nearby. The two lesser succubi in our retinue, Reza and Emily, shuddered at the sheer sexual energy we exuded. However, we were able to exert feelings and emotions into the aura. If another succubus was to brush up against ours, they would know we didn't mean harm.
That proved to be unnecessary though. As we neared the end of Layla's flight path, her aura rubbed against mine. We zeroed in on her location to a closed disco club called Rose. The doors had been left ajar. At this time of the day, not a single club should be open. At least not until the evening.
We entered and found Layla in the middle of the dance floor, naked, tied up, sitting on a rocking chair, a ball gag in her mouth, clamps on her nipples, and a vibrator in her ass and pussy. Going by the violent buzzing, the sex toys had been set to max.
"Hueen Haeko, helh heh!" Layla pleaded from her unfortunate position.
"Was Layla always this way in Elza?" I asked.
"Layla's actually a very powerful succubus. Her predilections, however… make her very susceptible to kinks of masochistic nature. Hold still. I'm getting you down." Selene started undoing her restraints, but the rope bindings were especially tight.
A piece of paper fell off Layla's person. Beautiful handwriting was scrawled on it.
"A note from the succubi who restrained Layla perhaps?" Reza asked.
"Maybe. It reads… To Queen Saeko. Please, don't try to find us. If you value your peace, leave us to ours alone as Beatrice did," I recited from the letter. "Now I really feel bad for looking for them, but I still can't exactly leave this matter be…"
Selene got tired of trying to untie Layla and severed the bindings with a knife instead. The masochistic stumbled forward out of her seat. She ripped the ball gag off, pulled out a folded ziplock bag from her mouth, and gasped for air.
"Queen… Queen Saeko, wait! They said… to give you this, if you were intent on finding them…" Layla handed the tiny plastic bag over covered in her slobber.
"Ugh…" I carefully took the letter out to read. "If you really want to find us, we're not going to keep hiding. You're going to find us eventually anyway. I've included an address for you to meet with some of us. However, you may only bring one other succubus. If this turns into a fight, we at least want the advantage."
"Wow. They are rather audaciously honest about it." Reza laughed.
Selene threw the chair Layla was sitting on across the room and snarled, "I don't like it. They underestimate you when they should be swearing fealty. I say we disregard the letter and go in together. Obviously, they can't take us all, especially not against three greater succubi— Well, two if Layla gets herself incapacitated again."
"Hey!" The masochistic succubus pouted.
"What should we do? We'll follow whatever plan you decide on. If… If I can add my two cents, I'd much prefer not to fight…" Emily pressed her index fingers together anxiously.
The burden of being queen falls to me again. I heaved a sigh, and everyone shifted nervously on their own feet.
If I choose to bring everyone, we would inevitably come to blows. In abiding by their conditions, I at least have a chance to speak with them. But just bringing a single person from my retinue… felt like I was walking right into a trap.
"Layla, you're with me. Everyone else is on standby," I said.
"What? Why that useless buffoon? She got herself captured, and we had to come to her rescue. Bring me in case a fight breaks out. I definitely will not fail you!" Selene exclaimed, and Layla shrunk to her insults.
"Because when it comes down to it, I trust Layla." I rested a reassuring hand on her shoulder, and she choked down a quivering breath. "Also, Selene. You're more prone to solving things with your fists. You'll just put those succubi on edge. If things go wrong, I trust you to come save us. Until then, stay put. Same goes for Reza and Emily."
"Tsk. As you wish." She backed off and bowed.
Layla and I flew to the address written on the note. Shibuya. It was south of Shinjuku, not a very far flight away. When I had typed the location into a search engine to see where we were going, I was surprised to learn that they wanted to meet at a club. But the club wasn't just any regular club. Taiyou was an upper scale bar and club, with an outdoor swimming pool on the side of a skyscraper.
I was beginning to see a theme here. Did these succubi own a series of nightlife establishments in Tokyo?
"Uhm… Saeko? Thanks for standing up for me. Not many people do. The lesser succubi back in Elza always made fun of me, since I've never been involved in battles on the frontline. Queen Beatrice had me stay back to defend the manor," Layla said.
"I know you have it in you. Don't take what Selene said too harshly. You know how she is. She's tough on everyone that isn't me. Wait, why did Beatrice not send you into battle?" I asked.
"I'm not sure myself. I like to think my unique power is very useful! But Queen Beatrice believed my strength was better suited at home alongside other succubi," she explained.
I had a lot more questions, but we were nearing Taiyou. The skyscraper that the club was situated on was within sight. About a hundred humans were partying it up in the pool with glasses of alcohol in hand, loud music playing from large speakers, and dancing and grinding on each other on the dry dance floor.
A dozen overlapping succubi auras rubbed against mine. All of them were cautious and tepidly aggressive. Still, we didn't feel the aura of a greater succubus among the group. The rumors of a greater succubus leading them might just be a rumor after all.
"Hey, succubus! Come join us!" an attractive woman in a bikini hollered from the pool.
That one wasn't a succubus, but they must be using illusory magic to hide their forms. Another woman, this one with blonde hair and dark gray streaks, waved to me from a bubbling jacuzzi. She definitely was a succubus.
Layla and I descended from the sky, landing at the edge of the pool. The disguised succubus wore sunglasses to shield her eyes from the afternoon sun. She had a human man in each arm snuggling with her. Oddly enough, none of them were showing fear despite being in the presence of two greater succubi.
"Queen Saeko. We figured you would bring another greater succubus with you. Since you two are here, care to join?" the mysterious succubus asked.
"I'm fine, thanks. We were hoping to talk. That's why you invited us, right? To hear me out and to have me hear you out?" I asked.
"About that… You should've just left us be. Things were better when we controlled different territories. We agreed to invite you, and if you came, we would send you a very clear message not to traipse into our territory." She snapped her fingers.
All at once, every human in Taiyou tensed up. Some of them climbed the tall safety railings that prevented people from accidentally falling off the skyscraper. Others took a deep breath and dunked themselves underwater. A few of the bartenders put a corkscrew or ice pick up to their necks. Every succubus readied a spell in their hands and pointed it squarely at me and Layla.
"What are you doing?!" I gasped.
"We know you cherish humans for some reason. Let's put that to the test. You two are going to stand there and take a beating from us. Move an inch, and they start jumping and drowning. Ready?" She sneered mockingly.
"No, please! I really just want to talk!" I cried desperately, my foot sliding forward a little from the wet ground.
"I said don't move!"
One of the men that was in her arms was about to step off the ledge until—
"Stop!" Layla bellowed aloud, and every human stepped away from the edge and resurfaced from the water. Her eyes beamed brightly like a lighthouse. Even for a greater succubus, she exerted an extremely compulsive aura that even made me want to obey.
"What? There are over a hundred humans here! A greater succubus can't control that many people at once!" The succubus rose from the pool in fright.
Having lost control of their thralls as assurances, the rest of the succubi hesitated to shoot their spells.
"Layla, did you do that?" I gaped.
"I remember why Queen Beatrice wanted me to stay at the manor now. My aura is thicker than most, and my well of sexual energy is deeper than most. I was the security. When we allied with Queen Elendir and the dark elves, she was afraid they might one day turn their backs on us. If they ever decided to betray us, I'd suppress a revolt by seizing control of every dark elf in the manor, and there would be nothing they could do. There hasn't been a need, so… hehe… I kind of forgot." Layla smiled innocently.
"I knew I was right to believe in you." I winked and patted her on the back, then pulled up a chair to sit in front of the petrified succubus standing up in the pool. "Well? Still want to talk?"
"Kuh… S-Stand down…" she stammered.
