Chapter 531 - 296: Eit Monster (Part 3)

No news is sometimes a kind of news.

Gauss quickly commanded teammates to follow.

According to the commission’s description, several hunters had accidentally wandered into this swamp.

Although he thought that a few ordinary people might not last until now, you never know.

Arriving even a moment earlier might save a life, altering the future of a family.

In the white mist, visibility was reduced to only three meters.

Further away, even a hint of silhouette couldn’t be seen clearly.

Maggie’s originally tied-up hair was now hanging loose, but luckily, she had already cut it with a dagger, leaving it just past her cheek.

She was trembling all over, feeling the icy chill spreading throughout her body from her toes.

If she lifted her calf at that moment, she’d see her foot and calf had turned a strange purple from prolonged exposure to the swamp.

And this is what caused her lips to pale and her body to gradually weaken.

"Father..."

Thinking of her lost father and uncle made her already pale face lose all color.

There are monsters in the mist.

Her relatives and companions from the village had separated from her to distract the monsters.

She wanted to escape the mist and seek help outside, but the fog was too thick.

So thick that in its midst, she couldn’t discern direction.

Moreover, she constantly felt as if she was being watched.

However, for some reason, the monsters in the mist seemed to be following her with the mindset of toying with prey.

She’s not sure if this is just an illusion.

But it felt like the rustling and crawling sounds constantly resonated beside her ear, occasionally capturing a fleeting, sinister black shadow within the mist.

This slowly approaching fear felt like an invisible hand strangling her neck, almost driving her mad.

"Rustle... Rustle..."

It’s here again!

The terrifying sound emerged once more from the thick fog behind, closer than before!

Maggie curled up in terror behind a half-dead crooked tree, hands clamped tightly over her mouth, not daring to make a sound, yet couldn’t stop tears from flowing.

Scenes from the past flickered before her eyes like a revolving lantern.

The first time she made a trap, the first time she caught prey, village festivals...

She forced herself to think of happy moments, while swallowing large gulps of saliva induced by anxiety.

In her terror, the rustling seemed to fade, moving off into the distance.

"Did the monster leave?"

Maggie’s back was drenched completely with cold sweat.

Her heart was pounding, the sense of post-scare relief nearly causing her to collapse.

But she knew now was far from safe.

Taking several deep breaths.

She swallowed, leaning against the crooked tree, turning stiffly to glance behind.

There, just under five paces away, within the dense fog, a twisted, menacing figure silently stood!

It hadn’t gone far; it was there all along!

It was a monstrous creature.

Twisted and ugly, without a nose, a wide mouth stretched to the ears lined with dense sharp teeth.

All Maggie’s blood seemed to instantly freeze.

Her mind went blank, forgetting even to breathe.

Extreme fear petrified her, unable to move.

"Whoosh!!"

Suddenly, her foot was enveloped in a cold snare.

The next moment, an irresistible force hurled her from the ground into the sky.

"Bang!!"

She collided with a large net in the sky.

The nightmare-like creature with deathly aura completely enveloped her.
