I Am Cultivating in the Apocalypse

Chapter 668: The Villa is Gone

Chapter 668: The Villa is Gone

Survival first. That’s the rule of the apocalypse. No one can divide everything selflessly, but you can always take a bit for yourself first.

It was foreseeable that wherever monsters roamed, nothing would be left.

Li Yuetian clutched his heart, aching for a long time. His last bottle of liquor, the one he had hidden in the second-floor camp, was now nothing but a pool of excrement.

The spoils of war were the contents of this storage room. With Boss Lu dead, they became unclaimed goods.

Jun Jia then said, "Jing Shu found this place first, so you pick. The rest of us will each take only what we can carry. Logistics will make communal meals from whatever is left and distribute it."

This was what they called ’finder’s share.’ Li Chenglong rubbed his hands together, chuckling. He had arrived just in time; following Sister Jing was definitely the right choice.

Boss Lu could never have imagined his treasured supplies would be divided up so easily.

At this moment, no one questioned the night’s events. What mattered was the sight of so much food—the hope for survival.

Luckily, not many people were present. Even at full capacity, one person couldn’t carry away too much. Although it was enough food to last one person ten years, it wouldn’t last long once divided among thousands.

Honestly, Jing Shu wasn’t interested in these things. Otherwise, she would have stashed them in her Magic Cube Space long ago, just as she had with the weapons.

However, she absolutely couldn’t show disdain. After all, in these apocalyptic years with so many species extinct, Boss Lu’s treasure was quite substantial. From the current perspective, these were definitely valuable items that couldn’t be bought.

Hadn’t Jun Jia’s eyes lit up at the sight of them?

"Sister, you pick first. Once you’ve chosen, I’ll help you carry it," Li Chenglong urged with an eager smile. "Since Jing Shu discovered the stash, of course, she should pick first. There were only so many good things. What if everyone wanted the smoked sausage? That’s what priority was for, wasn’t it?"

Jing Shu then carefully searched for food that hadn’t been damaged by Da Ji’s corpse, selecting items from a corner.

Fortunately, her night vision was excellent. She finally found a batch of undamaged, sealed apocalypse-era canned goods and military rations from various countries, distinguishable by the different languages on their labels.

Great! She had never tried most of these things before, only seen them in various review videos. These strange and varied foods seemed quite fun, and she was rather curious about them.

Jing Shu didn’t stand on ceremony. She lifted six large boxes filled with all sorts of peculiar apocalypse rations with one hand and declared, "I’ll take this much." There really wasn’t any other food as perfectly intact, or any other useful supplies, left to find.

Li Chenglong’s enthusiasm deflated. He had forgotten that Sister Jing was a Hercules; she effortlessly managed these items, weighing over a hundred pounds, with just one hand.

The others weren’t polite either. Jun Jia immediately grabbed a leaking bag of rice. Gold Dominator, still spitting blood, was determined to take all the sausages and even snatched a few smoked chickens at the end.

Li Yuetian was also a pragmatist. He went straight for rice, then rummaged through the supplies, found a large quantity of instant noodles, and promptly took two boxes.

Liu imitated Jing Shu, searching in a corner. He didn’t want to be eating and suddenly bite into a stone. He finally found food that satisfied him.

The group first hid their chosen food supplies together before beginning the true post-battle distribution work.

Jun Jia went to reassure everyone. After all, they had just experienced such a terrifying event. He had to paint a grand picture for them to lessen their fear, explaining that although the food on the second floor was gone, Boss Lu had secretly hoarded much more, which could now be shared.

Li Yuetian led several teams to start sifting through the food in the storage room. There was too much rubble, mostly sharp. The large pieces were only fingernail-sized, while the small ones were like sesame seeds. Biting down on them would genuinely shatter teeth and cause bleeding.

Pools of water and blood mixed on the floor, and a sweet smell permeated the air from shattered glass jars, spilled drinks, and condiments.

Flour and rice were scattered everywhere—a complete mess.

But with food so scarce, nothing on the floor could be wasted. It naturally had to be meticulously picked clean by people, ground down bit by bit, and added to the communal pot for cooking.

Li Chenglong had to lead people to patrol, inspect, and dispose of the bodies—both human and monster. Jing Shu went with him for the time being.

Dr. Zhang had already begun treatment, checking for any survivors who had been bitten but were still alive.

Wang Miao, while taking inventory, also directed the evacuation of the crowd, getting everyone to start tidying up with just a few succinct words.

He needed to arrange the current living accommodations, so he had no choice but to first follow Li Chenglong to check the situation on the lower floors.

Sixth floor: A pile of excrement.

Stepping on it felt soft and still warm.

Fifth floor: A layer of excrement.

Fourth floor: A thick layer of excrement.

Third floor: A very thick layer of excrement.

Second floor: Excrement up to their knees.

With each floor they descended, Jing Shu’s expression darkened further. Fortunately, back on the sixth floor, she had silently pulled two black plastic bags from her pocket and slipped them over her shoes.

Perhaps these rotten mermaids had overeaten. This time, they had devoured everything—furniture, doors, bedding, anything edible or inedible—to create such a grand spectacle.

The place was as empty as Li Chenglong had described; absolutely nothing remained.

Li Chenglong shook his head. "Now, there’s really nothing left."

Jing Shu, as if remembering something, hurried to the first-floor lobby.

She froze. The once-crowded first-floor lobby, which had been filled with tables, screens, and chairs, and had even housed three prefabricated villas, was now completely bare.

Jing Shu felt like she was wading through a swamp as she struggled forward, staring in disbelief at where her villa had once stood. Only some broken walls and steel frames remained; everything else was gone. The lobby was a chaotic mess, with leftover trash strewn about, and the stench was unbearable. The villa she had spent a fortune on was gone. Jing Shu couldn’t even describe her current mood; it felt like she’d been royally screwed.

But not only had her Magic Cube Space upgraded, it seemed she had also gained an incredible ability. If she could truly command the rotten mermaids in the future, it would be a net gain. Jing Shu consoled herself with this thought.

Wang Miao hadn’t expected it to be this devastating. Floors one through six were utterly empty. Cooking utensils, eating utensils, sleeping arrangements—all gone.

"Director Wang, how should we arrange the accommodations?" Jing Shu asked. She wanted to be alone for a bit and needed to sort out living arrangements quickly. She had to check her Magic Cube Space; the devastation outside was too heartbreaking.

Wang Miao suppressed the urge to vomit and said, "Everyone will stay on the seventh floor for now. The other areas are uninhabitable. We’ll have to squeeze in..."

Jing Shu, however, said, "Let’s clean up the sixth floor first. There isn’t as much excrement there, and it can be made habitable. This excrement isn’t entirely useless either. Let’s see if we can use it as fuel. At least we won’t be cold then."

With so much excrement, the fuel problem should be solvable. But where would they find food? Jing Shu temporarily pushed these headaches aside. Then she turned to Gold Dominator and asked, "What do you mean by following me around with your Jinhua Sow, never leaving my side?"

Liu discreetly positioned himself in front of Gold Dominator. He had been feeling lately that many people were vying for his position; he had to be on guard!

Just then, Li Chenglong came running back, followed by many skeletons.
