Chapter 749 - 41: T95_2
Sun Hang paused for a moment, then said, "But in that direction, within a kilometer, I haven't found any building of this height."
"When did you see it?" Wang Xiyi was taken aback and asked.
Sun Hang pointed to a nearby building. A white fungus thread climbed the wall and stood up on the rooftop like a cobra.
At the end of the thread, an eyeball was swirling around.
"The whole Baikal Remains is constantly changing, every street, every area is moving," Yan Yu'an said. "If you recklessly pursue, you might not catch anyone and could get separated from us... The first rule of the reconnaissance team's investigation guidelines is 'Prohibited to split up within Baikal Remains; ensure the distance between everyone does not exceed fifty meters; ensure no teammate leaves everyone's sight for more than five seconds.'"
"A bit hard to swallow this," Wang Xiyi said. "They shot down one of our drones and there's nothing we can do... Makes me angry just thinking about it."
"Do we have any more drones?" Sun Hang asked.
"I've only got one drone on me, the rest are in the trunk," Yan Yu'an replied. "If we exit now, we can still retrieve them in time. We just need to follow the street back to exit the range of Baikal Remains; the parked place isn't too far from us."
"Forget it, better to let Mr. Wang handle it directly." Sun Hang reached out and took a recorder from Yan Yu'an's shoulder, handing it to Wang Xiyi. "Those bullets shouldn't pierce your scales, right?"
"You still don't know how hard my scales are?" Wang Xiyi took the recorder, lightly leaped onto the rooftop, then flared her wings and soared into the air, quickly reaching a height of nearly forty meters.
The gunshots did not ring out again.
After filming the surrounding terrain with the recorder, Wang Xiyi said somewhat displeased, "Such a bully, afraid of those who are strong. Looks like when I showed up, they didn't dare shoot?"
"This means the opponent has a clear assessment of your strength," Sun Hang said. "If it were a reckless person, they might have tried to shoot you; ideally killing you, or at least testing how tough your defense is."
"No fun," Wang Xiyi said angrily. "I'll maintain this altitude and hover directly above you, providing terrain information. This way, you don't have to worry about losing me; if anything goes wrong, I'll just land."
"Good." Sun Hang nodded. "Based on what you captured, if we continue forward there's an intersection; the area in front and to the right of the crossroad is blocked by chaotic buildings. If we go to the left, it seems to lead to a square... but due to angle limitations, we can't see any further."
"I can't do anything about that; any higher and the 'membrane' will block the view," Wang Xiyi's voice came from above. "I've tried; this is already the highest altitude."
"Alright, let's check out the square first," Sun Hang decided.
"There's something I don't know whether I should say," Yan Yu'an suddenly spoke.
"Just say it; you're not the type to talk nonsense. Asking for my opinion is purely a waste of time," Sun Hang said.
"Although the front and right sides of the intersection are blocked now, by the time we get there, it might not be blocked... Anyway, a path that looks clear now might turn into a dead end soon," Yan Yu'an explained. "We should adjust our route according to real-time terrain."
"I understand. Let's head to the intersection first, and if it's blocked, we'll take another route; if both sides are open, we'll follow my previous plan: always choose left when there's a fork," Sun Hang nodded.
But before he could move, Wang Xiyi suddenly called out, "Don't rush! The intersection has changed!"
"What change? It's not blocked on all three sides, is it?"
"No! It's the ground! Look at the footage I sent; the ground is rising as if something underground is about to break through!" Wang Xiyi shouted.
"Could it be a mysterious structure?" Sun Hang glanced at the street sides. While they were inside the cafe, new buildings emerged on both sides, some even squeezing existing ones aside—like when a child's new tooth pushes through before the old one has fallen.
"It could also be an aggressive anomaly!" Yan Yu'an raised his weapon, pointing towards the intersection.
Zhong Ling's controlled anomalies formed a defensive stance, surrounding her.
As for the first anomaly, it quietly leapt onto the roof, activating the armor's optical camouflage. With the naked eye, one could only vaguely see a blurred shadow swiftly approaching the intersection.
"What the heck." Upon seeing what emerged from the ground, Wang Xiyi couldn't help but curse.
It was a T95 main battle tank!
This was a weapon from the former Siberian Federation, produced during the mid-period of the first anomaly war, but never mass-produced as the Siberian Federation had already announced its collapse. The units that received T95 tanks never numbered over one hundred; more than eighty percent were either destroyed or went missing during the war, with a few retreating with refugees to Lake Baikal Shore.
The Xiazhou Federation's tanks are far more advanced than T95s, so they had little interest in these Russian tanks. After decades of service in Lake Baikal City's City Defense Army, the surviving T95s were retired, with some commemorative ones moved to the Military History Museum, while the rest were scrapped.
This T95 is likely an "artifact" left behind by a former "heroic vehicle owner."
"Would blowing this thing up count as damage to historical relics?" Sun Hang muttered.
"Only if it still counts as a relic!" As soon as Wang Xiyi finished speaking, she threw a ghostly blue Dragon Breath Fireball, which quickly smashed into the emerging tank.
"Boom!!!" A massive explosion occurred, the Dragon Breath Fireball bursting open. Ghostly blue flames wrapped around the whole tank, sending plumes of smoke into the sky!
"Watch out!" A sense of danger flashed through Sun Hang's mind, prompting an immediate warning.
"Bang!"
A shell shot out from the smoke, hitting Wang Xiyi hard!
Wang Xiyi's body was propelled back tens of meters by the kinetic energy from the shell. She desperately flapped her wings to counteract the force, then shakily landed on the ground.
"You alright, Mr. Wang?" Sun Hang turned to look.
"I'm fine! Good thing I reacted quickly and grabbed the shell with my claws!" Wang Xiyi raised her hands, and only then did everyone see the shell was clamped firmly by her dragon claws, its fuse unused.
"Wait, something's off..." Wang Xiyi put the shell down. "This fuse seems to be a fake; the shell... the shell is solid! No wonder it's so heavy!"
"A solid shell?"
"My claw has embedded seven or eight centimeters deep; could've sliced it into two if just a bit more," Wang Xiyi said. "It's solid."
