Chapter 28 As Clever as I Am: Tian Xiwei
Chapter 28 As Clever as I Am: Tian Xiwei
The moment they stepped out of the haunted house, sunlight flooded in, blinding them. The three girls simultaneously took a deep breath, their faces showing expressions of relief.
"The air outside is so fresh!" Tian Xi stretched and yawned, as if she hadn't been the one screaming in the haunted house just now.
Liu Haochun and Li Xue hadn't recovered yet, so they leaned against the wall to slowly calm their breathing.
"Who just said they were brave?" Lin Feng looked at Tian Xiwei with a mocking look in his eyes.
Tian Xi blushed slightly: "That was an instinctive reaction! Who knew they would be so sudden!" She took Liu Haochun's hand, "Haochun, let's go again, this time I'm definitely not afraid!"
"I'm not going! I'm not going!" Liu Haochun quickly waved his hand, "My heart can't take it."
Li Xue also shook her head: "I'm not going either, it's too scary."
"Forget it, if we go again, I'm afraid you'll snuggle into my arms again."
Tian Xi stomped her foot and said, "Brother Feng, you're so annoying!" She complained, but couldn't help but smile.
The four of them found a bench to sit down and rest. Tian Xiwei bought four cups of milk tea and handed them over: "Have something sweet to calm your nerves."
As Liu Haochun drank her milk tea, she felt her heart finally beating normally again.
After resting for a while, Lin Feng checked his watch: "Let's go to the zoo, we still have most of the afternoon."
"Yay! Let's go see the giant pandas!" Tian Xiwei immediately perked up.
The zoo was quite crowded, mostly with parents and children. Tian Xiwei was the most excited, pulling them straight to the panda enclosure. Seeing the giant pandas happily munching on bamboo, she excitedly snapped photos: "So cute! Even cuter than on TV!"
Liu Haochun was also mesmerized, and whispered, "It seems like it's always eating."
"Because it's lazy," Lin Feng said with a laugh. "It sleeps for more than ten hours a day and spends the rest of its time eating."
Li Xue took out her phone and filmed a video of the panda: "I'll show it to my niece when I get back; she loves pandas the most."
After seeing the pandas, we went to see the tigers, lions, and monkeys.
By 4 p.m., all four of them were a little tired.
"I had so much fun today," Tian Xi said lazily, leaning back in her chair.
"Mm." Liu Haochun nodded, feeling a little reluctant to part ways. Tomorrow, they would really be separated.
Looking at the lake, Li Xue said softly, "Thank you, Director Lin, for taking us out to play. I haven't felt this relaxed in a long time."
"There will be plenty of opportunities in the future. Let's hang out together again after the movie is released."
Tian Xi's eyes lit up: "Really? Then let's make a promise to have hot pot together on the day the movie is released!"
After dinner, it was already dark when they returned to the hotel where the film crew lived. Tian Xi yawned, "I'm sleepy. I still need to pack my things tomorrow."
"Get some rest," Lin Feng said.
Liu Haochun also said, "I'm going back too. Goodnight."
"Good night."
Watching them walk back to their rooms, Li Xue said softly, "They still seem a little reluctant to leave."
"Um."
In the hotel room, Tian Xiwei put the folded sweatshirt into her suitcase.
"Haochun," Tian Xiwei suddenly stopped what she was doing, turned around and looked at her, "Can you do me a favor?"
Liu Haochun paused for a moment, then put down his things: "What's wrong?"
"Aren't you studying in Beijing?" Tian Xiwei leaned closer and said mysteriously, "Could you keep an eye on Feng-ge for me, so he doesn't get snatched away by someone else?"
Liu Haochun's face inexplicably felt hot: "Huh? Why do you want me to keep an eye on him?"
"Think about it," Tian Xiwei counted on her fingers, "Brother Feng is handsome and a good actor. His company will definitely become more and more successful in the future, and then a lot of beautiful actresses will be vying for his attention. I've heard there are a lot of beautiful girls in universities too. What if someone takes a liking to him?"
She frowned, her face showing a "something terrible has happened" expression. "You're in the capital, close to him, so it's convenient for you to keep an eye on him."
"But I'm in school," Liu Haochun said softly, "and...we don't go to the same school, how can I keep an eye on him?"
"The weekend!" Tian Xi clapped her hands. "If you're free on the weekend, go hang out with him. Ask him to take you to the movies and have hot pot. Take up his time and don't give other girls a chance to ask him out."
She tugged at Liu Haochun's arm and shook it, her voice pleading, "Please, Haochun? Just do me a favor, and I'll send you some oranges from my hometown later. They're so sweet!"
Liu Haochun looked into her eyes, "...Okay." She nodded gently, but felt a strange mix of emotions.
"That's great!" Tian Xi cheered and hugged her. "I knew you were the best!"
The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, the film crew's van pulled up downstairs at the hotel. He and Li Xue were already waiting in the van. Seeing them, they asked, "Did you bring everything? Did you forget anything?"
"Nothing was left out!" Tian Xiwei stuffed the suitcase into the trunk, dusted off her hands, and said, "I checked it three times."
The car headed to the station first. Tian Xiwei's home wasn't far from the main city; it only took an hour and a half by bus. Along the way, she chattered non-stop, from "I'm going to eat three big bowls of noodles made by my mom when I get back" to "I'm going to take Feng Ge to pick oranges next time we meet," but the excitement in her tone always carried a hint of barely concealed sadness.
When they arrived at the station, Tian Xiwei got off the train first. She turned around, looked at him, and her eyes suddenly reddened: "Brother Feng, you have to take good care of yourself. Don't overwork yourself."
"Okay," he said, ruffling her hair. "You too, go home and spend time with your parents, don't just play on your phone all the time."
Tian Xiwei threw herself into his arms and hugged him tightly: "I'll miss you, and I'll video call you often!"
"Okay, I'll wait." He patted her on the back, took out a red envelope from his pocket and handed it to her. "This is a wrap-up red envelope. Keep it for yourself and don't spend it recklessly."
"Wow! Thank you, Brother Feng!" Tian Xiwei immediately stopped crying and smiled, stuffing the red envelope into her pocket. She then hugged Liu Haochun, "Haochun, don't forget what we agreed on!"
Liu Haochun gave a soft "Mmm" and hugged her: "Be careful on the road."
Finally, it was Li Xue's turn. Tian Xiwei pulled her aside, stood on tiptoe, and whispered in her ear, "Sister Li Xue, could you keep an eye on Brother Feng for me? You're around him every day. If any pretty girls approach him, try to get them away. Don't let them succeed, okay?"
Li Xue paused for a moment, then couldn't help but laugh. She nodded and said, "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on it."
"Thank you so much!" Tian Xi smiled brightly and hugged her tightly. "I'm off now!"
She dragged her suitcase, turned around, and walked into the station. Every few steps, she would turn back and wave until her figure disappeared at the ticket gate.
The car was heading to the airport when his phone rang just half an hour later. It was a message from Tian Xiwei: "Brother Feng, I'm on the bus! We're leaving soon! Remember to message me often!" She added a grinning emoji at the end.
She smiled and replied, "Okay, I'll take a nap on the way."
On the bus, Tian Xiwei looked at the reply on her phone and couldn't help but smile.
"Hmph, I've planted two spies," she thought smugly. "Brother Feng is so good, I can't let someone else snatch him away. As clever as I am, Tian Xiwei, I'm sure I'll be fine!"
