How to Redeem a Trashy Side Villain

Chapter 115: Cracks in the Wall

Chapter 115: Cracks in the Wall

"Hey there, boss-man. Really nice to meet you," I greeted the boss who dashed at me.

Its speed wasn't as imposing as Selgaath but it was still extremely fast.

"Whoa there. Slow your roll. Can't we get to learn more about each other first before trying to kill each other?" I asked as I used Gon's flat side to redirect a beam that came from its palm.

Its other palm shot a second beam and the pressure was beginning to push the sword in my hands backward.

"You know, this is oddly familiar to a certain superhero back in my world," I stated as I weaved between the two beams, trying to get closer to the boss.

The slit on its head then opened up and a third beam shot out.

"Whoa!" I screamed as I met the energy with a condensed lightning bolt of my own, holding it until both attacks died down.

The boss then leaped into the air, clapped its hand and a loud shockwave sent me skidding backward, nearly collapsing to my knees.

As it landed, tentacles began to pop out from its back.

"Tentacles?! More tentacles!"

This was the thousandth time I've had to deal with tentacles since coming to this world.

Shitty god, do you have some sort of fetish for tentacle hen—

Even though the shitty god couldn't read my mind, it must've seen the expression on my face because it interrupted me.

"Hey! Knock it off."

"Knock what off?" I asked, acting oblivious. "I didn't say anything."

"I'm not a tentacle person. I've never even written about this boss in my novel. It's the creation of the world itself. Not me. Don't blame me for this one."

"What about Selgaath and the Immortal?"

"...Coincidence!"

That's what someone with a tentacle hentai fetish would say.

Each tentacle was plated with the same gray armor and they were like extra arms. Everywhere the tentacles landed, a hole would be left in the ground or on the walls.

"I swear if I see tentacles one more time in the next year, I'll report you to HR," I told the shitty god.

Punching my left, I shot out multiple bolts of lightning and propelled myself to the right, avoiding the barrage of attacks.

Then, with lightning coating my feet, I kicked off the ground and dashed back in, leaving two slices on the boss's arm before pulling back.

"Hey, I'm talking to someone. Please have some manners," I told the boss as it fired three beams at me. I ran along the wall and as the beams were turning off, I kicked off the wall.

Pow!

I sent the boss flying backwards.

"Also… beams? Haven't I already faced beams once before? Wouldn't the readers get bored if they got the same thing over and over?" I asked.

"It's not me doing anything," the shitty god groaned.

"Still, this is your world, is it not?"

"..."

Dragging my sword along the ground, lightning wrapped around it and it grew stronger and stronger as I ran. Then, as I slashed the blade upwards, an arc created by condensed lightning shot towards the boss.

Crossing its arms, it braced for impact.

Zaaap!

Just as it pulled its arm apart, my blade was pointed straight at the slit on its face.

It turned its head at the last second and rotated its torso, elbowing me in the chest.

"Uhn~ Good hit," I grunted as the roles were flipped and I became the one defending.

The boss didn't give me a single second to recover and catch my breath. As it kept me occupied with its beams, tentacles, and soundwave claps, its torso split slightly. It wasn't fully opened but the gap was wide enough for the white-gold light to leak out.

The glow intensified and suddenly, the beam wasn't just coming from its palms or head anymore.

They shot out of its chest and came in all directions as the beams bounced off the walls, floor, and ceiling.

Lines of light began to carve through the air in erratic angles. Some were wide while other was as thin as a needle.

The room got dustier as chunks of the arena were getting shaved off like butter.

"Okay. Okay, this is new," I muttered, ducking as one beam tore past my ear and another grazed my shoulder. One bounced off the wall and nearly seared a hole in my back but I rolled and dodged it.

As I was about to get up, tentacles slammed down around me, boxing me in.

Kicking off one of the tentacles, I barely escaped and continued rolling before coming up on one knee. I shot a few bolts of lightning at the boss.

It can't do this forever. I can sense how fast the monster's mana is draining from this attack.

If I used my codes and artifacts' abilities, this battle would've been over by now.

But no. I couldn't use them. I had made an oath earlier today that I would not use them and although I was putting my life on the line, that's what it would take to earn a decent amount of code usage.

The only thing I could rely on was my sword's sharpness, my magic, my mana, and the limits of my body.

The boss continued to press forward and one of its tentacles managed to wrap around my sword arm. It yanked and I barely managed to let go of Gon before I was pulled clean off my feet and slammed into the ground.

The tentacle picked up my sword mid-air and began attacking me with it.

"Oh, come on. That's just disrespectful," I groaned. "You can't just take a man's weapon and attack him with it. That's like… that's blasphemous in at least a thousand countries."

I struck the tentacle with a few bolts of lightning, loosening the grip it had on my sword.

Once Gon began dropping towards the ground, I dashed forward and picked it up just in time to block a beam that was far denser than any of the previous ones.

As my sword leaned closer and closer to my face, I rolled to the side at the last second.

The beam missed me, but it didn't miss the wall.

The dungeon wall behind me cracked.

It wasn't a small crack either. It was a deep fracture that even branched off like a spiderweb.

My mind froze for half a heartbeat as I noticed the state of the wall.

While my body was moving on autopilot, my brain began to quickly formulate a plan.

My eyes flicked to the surrounding arenas. Each of us had been dragged to a different arena with four walls dividing us.

And if I remembered correctly, Arthurr had been dragged to the Eastern side. The mana signature I was reading also indicated that I was correct.

With a grin, I muttered, "Oh. That's interesting. Let's test this out."

Thinking that I was distracted, the boss charged again.

Rather than avoiding the confrontation, I sprinted straight at the boss.

"Come on," I taunted. "Hit me pussy."

A beam was fired and I sidestepped just enough that it clipped past me and smashed into the wall behind.

It struck the crack that had already formed and more debris fell.

"Is that all you got?" I asked between breaths. "If this is your maximum effort, I'm disappointed. I had more difficulty getting Rubi to sleep than this."

The boss didn't understand what I was saying, but it swung an arm.

I dodged it, along with the tentacles.

"Not exactly what I'm looking for."

Ducking, rolling, and leaving a few cuts on the boss, another beam was finally released.

Boom.

I had timed my position just in time for the dodged beam to strike the wall again. The wall shuddered violently this time.

Constantly moving, I was less focused on leaving substantial damage than I was simply trying to herd each of the boss's beam attacks toward the section of the wall that was compromised. I even managed to bait it to punch the wall.

My body was screaming in protest as I was using my mana to amplify my speed.

Dang, my ribs hurt like mothertrucker right now.

My pool of mana, which I assumed was the largest amongst all the first-year students, was starting to reach dangerously low levels.

But it wasn't just me who was ready to crumble. So was the wall.

Just one more massive blast.

"Come on, boss-man! You got this!" I said, even giving it a fistbump to send my support.

As the boss gathered power, I smirked.

"Perfect."

The beam detonated against the already-fractured wall and for a split second, everythignw etn silent.

Then, the wall collapsed.

Stone-like material exploded outward, dust and debris flooding the space.

The boundary between two of the four arenas had been breached.

Without wasting a single second, I bolted over to the other arena and shouted, "Arthur!"

On the other side, Arthurr had been locked in a brutal close combat with his guardian and I could see how badly his body was battered. Blood was running down his arm, but he kept a solid stance.

I was wondering why he hadn't split into two, then combine back into one to heal his wounds.

The guardian he was facing was towering over him. Every strike the guardian threw, it pushed Arthurr back a few steps.

Hearing my voice, he glanced back for a second, his eyes widening.

"Bell?!" he screamed.

"Ding ding ding! It's me," I grinned as I skidded to a stop beside him. "Dodge," I said, and when both of us avoided the beam coming from behind, it narrowly missed us. Instead, it struck the guardian.

The boss had no face but it didn't seem happy that I had infiltrated another arena.

Following me, it had forced its way through the broken wall, tentacles going awol.

"So, what's up with this guardian?" I asked as I sliced at the monster.

Wiping blood from his mouth, Arthurr responded, "I'm unable to cast any spells. No magic is allowed."

"That explains why you're hurt." It also explained why he had no saber in his hands. The weapon must've been destroyed and due to his inability to access his inventory, he couldn't grab a replacement.

"With my help, how fast can we kill this thing?" I asked.

"While trying not to die from the boss you brought over here?"

"Yes."

"Fast enough," he grinned.

The guardian roared, and the boss attacked simultaneously.

The two of us ganged up on the guardian, tossing Gon between the two of us at times, and on multiple occasions, we managed to get the two monsters to hit each other rather than us.

Just as Arthurr had stated, it didn't take long for the guardian to fall to our combined efforts.

As his magic was unsealed, I watched as he split into two.

"It's a three versus one now," I smiled as I pointed Gon at the boss's face.
