Chapter 96: The Screen::Power Source !!
Chapter 96: The Screen::Power Source !!
[Connection stabilization 70%]
Lights flickered wildly across the screen, flashing straight onto Jamie’s face. He had cleaned the room now—the dust was gone, and so was the rusty smell that had once soaked the air. In its place was a fresh, soapy scent, the kind that strangely calmed the heart.
On the wall, he had hung a plain white sheet to serve as the background when he spoke to the people of midworld.
And speaking of the participants—
High above the ground, throughout the city of midworld, everyone moved slowly, like they had just lived through a day so exhausting it had drained the life out of them.
And honestly, they had.
You didn’t need to be smart to feel it.
Tension clung to the air like perfume.
Sooner or later, a bloody confrontation was going to happen, and everyone would have to choose a side.
Fast.
And the soft jazz music drifting from most of the televisions did absolutely nothing to ease that feeling.
[Connection stabilization 100% and complete]
Suddenly, every screen and every radio across all of midworld jammed at once, like the signal had been hijacked.
The screens exploded into multicolored static.
That ugly, irritating blank sound screeched continuously from speakers, making people flinch and curse under their breath.
The interference lasted only a few seconds.
Then Jamie appeared.
Whether it was in restaurants, homes, bars, or hidden little corners where people gathered, no matter how small the screen was—everyone saw him.
"Is that who I think it is ?"
"Yes, I think so. Men he is looking much stronger now"
"Hey bar man, turn up the volume "
Those same kinds of questions spread everywhere the moment his face appeared.
At the order of customers, whether in bars or restaurants, the volume was raised like a football final had just begun. Faces turned sharp and focused, the kind of concentration people only wore when something important was happening right in front of them.
And seeing Jamie again only made the nostalgic feeling hit harder.
But this wasn’t the time for nostalgia.
Jamie—a demon now—was right there in front of them.
Smiling brightly like a man who had finally escaped slavery and learned what freedom felt like.
"Hallo, I know some of you rember while others don’t. I was just like you, about who died and got his soul sent to this place to suffer even though to see our demise we did agood did it the first place..but luckily I was saved by the demons and I am saying this from the bottom of my heart that they really cared for me "
Jamie’s words landed deep, pulling in everyone’s attention.
Even Alexander.
Even the officials still left in midworld.
The entire city was locked in, watching him the same way people got hooked to a perfectly edited TikTok they couldn’t scroll away from.
"The war that is about to begin doesn’t concern you. The demons want to fight against the goddess and her minions that think with evil intentions like her.. enlightened into this idea, the demons have offered a soulution to all pour souls. Don’t join the goddess into the battle and in return the demons guarantee you the most safety ever. Just like they did with me when they took me out of midworld. Failure to comply then when you stepp your feet on the Battellefieeld you will be classified as an enemy. I repeat those that fell to agre to this deal, the demons won’t have any choice but to classify you as enemies by will.... I wish you all agood day as you make your decision "
Beep.
The screens jammed again for a brief second, then returned to their normal programs.
But the atmosphere didn’t go back to normal.
Not even close.
Everyone froze where they were.
The air turned heavy instantly.
Because just like that, they had been given another option.
A back door.
A way out of the dangerous position they were trapped in.
Those who were gathered in groups didn’t speak immediately.
No one wanted to say the wrong thing first.
No one wanted to openly side with or against the demons and risk clashing with whatever their friends were secretly thinking.
"He has given us a good deal too, but how just guaranteed is it "
"That lady demon talked to be goddess like she knew her maybe she is strong like her too"
"Men, what a pain in the ass this turned out to be "
Soon, murmurs started spreading.
People tossed around ideas, doubts, and theories, everyone offering their own take on the situation.
But no one had truly made up their mind yet.
It wasn’t exactly the answer Jamie had hoped for.
Still, it was enough.
Enough to stir uncertainty.
Enough to keep things moving.
Enough to give the desperate ones something to hold onto.
"Disconnect from the grid "
[Disconnecting from the Grid successfull]
Jamie was just about to breathe out in relief when another label suddenly appeared on the screen.
[Anormally detected while collecting information from the Grid]
He leaned forward immediately, curiosity taking over his face.
"Tell me what is it "
[The power source of midworld has been located]
The words glowed in red, almost like a warning.
Like it was information no one was ever supposed to dig into.
Come to think of it, I’ve never seen any electrical wires or power companies but somehow the devices still get powered.
The thought flickered through his mind.
It was such an obvious detail, and yet somehow he had overlooked it.
[The powers source of all midword is the souls of people that loose the game.. their souls don’t disappear they turn into energy]
.... .....
"Fuck!!!"
Splash!!!!
Two figures came crashing down from the sky and slammed hard into the ground of a massive forest.
Sand burst outward in every direction while a cold mist rose around them, carrying a sharp, damp fragrance through the air.
One of the figures slowly pushed herself up, her body shaking from the impact.
As the light touched her face, it became clear who it was.
Fiona.
"Where the fuck am i""
She whispered as her eyes swept across the unfamiliar surroundings, trying to force the scene into something that made sense.
But nothing did.
The last thing she remembered was walking through the dark portal while it was tearing apart.
And now—
She was in a forest.
"Don’t worry sweet heart I will protect you "
Cool Joe pushed himself up with his legs, rising with the dramatic flair of a martial artist showing off before a fight.
"The portal must have collapsed because of the pressure created NY the other individuals that where coming here too. We ought be glad for just staying arrive "
"I am glad Sweetcake, glad that with all the people I ended up falling here with the universe choose you my love"
Fiona’s face twitched.
"Huh, are you mad or something.... "
She wanted to snap harder than that.
Much harder.
But she stopped herself.
Because she already knew that was exactly what he wanted.
And she wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction.
She slowly turned her face away and muttered under her breath—
"This is really going to a hell of ride"
.....
ASTRO SECURITY DEPARTMENT B12
Eight sets of footsteps echoed through the corridor, drawing closer and closer to a wide metal door.
Then the door opened.
Only two entered.
The other six remained outside.
Inside the room sat the lieutenant of the demons, holding a sketch filled with lines and shapes twisted together into what looked like some kind of unknown device.
He lifted his eyes toward them, curiosity settling over his face.
They had barged into his room without knocking, so he had every right to be curious at the very least.
The demon leading the group stepped forward and saluted.
"Sorry for the intrusion sir, but we Have found something that might be worth uour Time sir "
"Am all ears "
"Bring him in"
The soldier gestured toward the others waiting outside.
And the moment the figure stepped inside—
The lieutenant’s expression changed.
Recognition flashed across his face.
Then a smile spread over it, sharp and immediate, like a man who had just been handed an unexpected promotion.
"Hallo capatin of the bluejaguars, nice to me you""
