Chapter 114 - 104: Our Company Needs Talent Just Like You
Finally, as if steeling her resolve, she shakily stood up.
Then, she hurried away.
Now, only three candidates remained in the room.
Lin Ye, a taciturn and weathered-looking middle-aged man,
and a muscular man who was now drenched in sweat, holding on purely by willpower.
At last, the half-hour presentation ended.
The moment Wu Weiping finished speaking, the muscular man let out a long sigh. He went limp against the back of his chair as if completely drained, his back thoroughly soaked with sweat.
Wu Weiping turned off the projector.
His gaze slowly swept over the three remaining people.
When he saw Lin Ye, a barely perceptible hint of surprise flickered in his eyes for the first time.
This was an impression Lin Ye had intentionally projected.
Since he had decided to join Dawn Creatures, he knew he had to display his most appealing traits.
Next up were the individual interviews.
The muscular man was called in first and came out less than three minutes later, dejected.
The outcome was self-evident.
Then, it was the middle-aged man’s turn.
Finally, it was Lin Ye’s turn.
The interviewers were just a few junior managers from the Security Department, and the questions they asked were all routine, as if they were just going through the motions.
All the interviews concluded.
Wu Weiping announced the results publicly.
"Lin Ye, Zhao Defa."
"Congratulations to you both. You have passed the interview."
Upon hearing his name, a look of pure elation flashed across the face of the middle-aged man, Zhao Defa. But he quickly forced it down, merely clenching his fists tightly.
Two contracts were placed before them.
"The previous briefing was just to give you a general understanding of the company."
"You two have had the good fortune to be selected as Caretakers for the Dawn Creatures Special Experimental Zone."
"When necessary, you will also be responsible for cleanup duties in the contamination zones."
"This job may involve direct confrontations with mutated beasts, so please, prepare yourselves mentally."
The joyful expression on Zhao Defa’s face instantly froze, replaced by a look of horror.
But before he could speak, Wu Weiping played his final card.
"Salary is paid weekly."
"A weekly base salary of 100,000 Alliance Coins."
"With additional, uncapped allowances and bonuses based on mission performance and danger level."
One hundred thousand a week!
That number made all worries and dangers pale in comparison.
Wu Weiping’s gaze shifted to Lin Ye. Apparently sensing his nervousness, he said reassuringly,
"Rest assured. They may be mutated beasts, but with your capabilities, you’re more than able to handle them."
"Besides, all cleanup missions are conducted by teams. We won’t let anyone shoulder such enormous risk alone."
No longer hesitating, Zhao Defa picked up the pen and signed his name at the bottom of the contract.
Lin Ye picked up his contract as well.
He quickly scanned the terms, his gaze lingering for a moment on the confidentiality agreements marked in bold print, as well as the frankly outrageous breach-of-contract penalties listed below.
At this point, Dawn Creatures had dropped the pretense.
Even without it being spelled out, any normal person could tell: this company and this job were anything but normal.
But the money was just too good.
So good, in fact, that it could make countless people like Zhao Defa willingly sign on the dotted line.
Lin Ye also signed his name on the contract, one deliberate stroke at a time.
Seeing that both had signed, a genuine smile finally appeared on Wu Weiping’s face.
He even stepped down from the platform, extended a hand, and shook Lin Ye’s firmly.
"Welcome to the family."
"You’re exactly the kind of talent our company needs!"
