Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen

Chapter 480: They both ultimately couldn’t escape.

Chapter 480: They both ultimately couldn’t escape.

The man put down the knife and fork in his hands and leaned back against the chair, his expression lightly somber.

The private room in the western restaurant fell into a brief silence.

"Edward..."

Daisy Ginger just wanted to break this silence when Edward Stephens suddenly spoke.

"It’s already three years old, do you want to take a look?"

His tone sounded somewhat sarcastic.

"..." Hearing this, she couldn’t quite describe her feelings. Although what happened back then had little to do with her, in Edward Stephens’ view, she had schemed against him.

Now, he didn’t even want to haggle over the past dirtiness with her. Time couldn’t erase the pain in his heart, yet he still loved her.

Edward Stephens finally started eating the steak.

"My mom and brother have been taking care of him. If you like, you can also go see him."

"As far as I’m concerned, this child has nothing to do with me," he looked at her faintly. "Apart from successfully making me choose to divorce you, he hasn’t changed anything for me."

Daisy Ginger sat there, looking into his calm eyes, and for a moment, she wanted to reveal the truth.

But once said, what could remain between them?

What separated them wasn’t just a mere misunderstanding.

Daisy Ginger forced a smile, lowered her head, took a sip of wine, and pushed her thoughts back before saying to Edward Stephens, "You should also go see him. A child without a father will miss you."

Edward Stephens’ pupils contracted slightly, looking at Daisy Ginger’s bland smiling face, he finally lost the mood to continue this dinner.

He put down his knife and fork, stood up from his seat, and said to Daisy Ginger, "You eat, I’ll go pay."

"..." Daisy Ginger watched the man’s retreating back. Only when he had completely left the private room did she somewhat wearily lift her hand to support her forehead, close her eyes, and gently let out a sigh.

She shouldn’t have asked, shouldn’t have come out to dinner with him, and shouldn’t have continued getting closer to him.

What they left with each other four years ago was pain and sorrow that could never be erased.

Those wounds still exist, just covered by time. Bringing up old matters again was still like a thorn, unchanged, piercing the heart painfully.

She might as well tell Edward Stephens that she did nothing back then, and everyone was schemed against by Charlotte Smith—but what use would that be?

He and Charlotte’s child was already born, Robert Stephens still caused Alice Lesser’s death, even though she had forgiven Edward Stephens for all his deceit and tactics against her in the past, the two of them ultimately couldn’t escape unscathed.

Daisy Ginger shook her head, sitting in the western restaurant, tastelessly continuing her meal alone.

Twenty minutes later, Daisy Ginger walked out of the restaurant.

When she came to the entrance, she realized that Edward Stephens’ car was still parked there.

The black Bentley, with its headlights, through the window, she could vaguely see the man’s profile.

Why was he still here?

Daisy Ginger was momentarily startled, unsure if she should approach—what if he wasn’t waiting for her?

Until the black car window slowly rolled down, exposing the man’s face, biting a cigarette, in her vision. He extinguished the cigarette butt and raised his chin slightly at her, "Get in."

Daisy Ginger opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat.

The cabin was filled with the crisp smell of smoke; she didn’t know how many cigarettes he had smoked while sitting alone in the car.

She slightly turned her head, stealing a glance at the man’s expression in the rearview mirror, only to be caught by him, the two made eye contact through the mirror.

Daisy Ginger instinctively turned her head away, feeling a bit embarrassed.
