Chapter 428: You are not worthy to see him.
Chapter 428: You are not worthy to see him.
When Daisy Ginger received the news, she was at home having dinner. Hearing the call from Helen Hyde’s agent, she almost thought it was some kind of April Fool’s joke.
She didn’t even finish her dinner, put down her chopsticks, and rushed to the police station.
Helen Hyde at Royal Entertainment was considered a medium-level celebrity, holding three or four second or third-tier brand endorsements. All of which had contracts stating that any scandal or personal stain during the contract period would cost Royal Entertainment dearly in breach penalties.
At 11:30, Daisy Ginger, panting heavily, arrived at the police station. February weather in Tsing City was still freezing, and she wore a layer of thin sweat, her breath causing the air before her to blur.
Upon entering the police station, she saw the agent waiting anxiously at the entrance. The agent was seasoned in the entertainment industry, with seven or eight years of experience, yet it was their first time encountering such an issue, standing before Daisy, flustered, hurriedly rushing forward to greet her, calling out, "Sister Ginger!"
She was actually older than Daisy, but due to their competitive relationship at Royal Entertainment, they rarely greeted each other. However, because of Helen’s situation, she even called her "sister."
Daisy held a cigarette between her fingers without smoking it, a sign of her agitation. Dressed lightly in nothing but an ash-gray knitted sweater, with no makeup on, when she lifted her gaze, her eyes were intimidatingly sharp, causing the agent to instinctively stand straight like reporting for work, saying, "Helen didn’t actually do anything, you think about it, how could a big star like her sexually harass a man? It’s the other party being unreasonable, insisting on pressing charges..."
Daisy interrupted her, frowning, "Get to the point."
"We have already revealed her identity and are willing to compensate, but he refuses to settle!"
Daisy had been in the entertainment circle for three years, no, even all those years in Banyan City, she had never heard of such an absurd thing.
——A female star sexually harassing a man, and she got successfully reported!
She glanced at the agent, too lazy to listen further to her excuses, pushed past her, and entered the police station.
In the long corridor of the police station, a young man with short, wine-red hair sat there. In front of him were two policewomen, chatting and laughing about something. Upon seeing her enter, the policewomen immediately left. The man lazily turned his head, his gaze meeting hers.
Seeing his face, Daisy’s eyes slowly widened.
Shit, it’s this guy again?
Could it be because she had refused to let him date Elena Raven yesterday, so he was now intentionally playing tricks, bullying Royal Entertainment’s artist?
At this thought, Daisy’s expression turned unpleasant.
She despised the kind of philandering, scheming playboy the most!
"What exactly do you want?" She stepped forward, her pretty face cold, addressing Ryan Smith, "Sir, don’t you think you’re going too far? For personal desires, pushing unfounded charges onto innocent people, do you have any idea how much damage you could cause to someone else’s reputation?!"
Helen Hyde is a star, with countless people eagerly waiting behind her to snatch her endorsements. This guy reports it casually, and should someone with an agenda exploit it, it could spell disaster for her!
"..." The man seemed a bit taken aback, those pretty almond eyes widened slightly, after a moment, he stood up before her, "What are you talking about?"
Daisy: "I’m saying, don’t go too far! You harassed my artist yesterday, and I haven’t even settled with you..."
"Sister Ginger," Daisy’s words were cautiously interrupted by the agent behind her, "It’s not him."
"..." Daisy frowned, turning her head, "What?"
The agent awkwardly smiled at her, "He’s here on behalf of that gentleman to handle this matter. That person has already returned due to other affairs."
"..." Daisy inhaled deeply but couldn’t breathe out for a moment, looking at the man before her, who seemed amused, finding this red-haired guy even more annoying!
She hated men who dyed their hair the most!
"Sir," Daisy exhaled, lowering her head, "sorry, my mistake. I’m Daisy Ginger, the former agent of Miss Helen Hyde, I believe there might be some misunderstanding between her and your friend, could you please ask your friend to come over so we can talk?"
Ryan Smith chuckled, hands in his pockets, casually lifting his chin, "You’re not worthy to see him."
"..." Daisy, holding back her anger, continued, "Then, may I ask, how do you wish to resolve this?"
"Your artist sexually harassed my friend, however the law handles it, that’s how it will be handled. What more resolution do you want?"
He kept mentioning sexual harassment, making Daisy’s head spin.
How could Helen Hyde possibly sexually harass a man? She wasn’t insane!
She stared at Ryan Smith for a while, saying nothing further, and turned to where Helen was held.
Helen Hyde huddled inside, seeing her come in, rushed forward: "Daisy, you have to save me!"
Her makeup was a mess, still in her high couture, looking utterly disheveled. Yet, upon seeing Daisy, her tone remained demanding: "I don’t want to stay in here, get them to let me out immediately! There’s mosquitoes in here, I’m going to be eaten alive!"
In February, where the hell would mosquitoes come from!
Daisy frowned, "What on earth did you do?"
If they’ve detained her, there must be concrete evidence, especially in a case where a woman supposedly harassed a man–by any account, there would need to be substantial proof to arrest someone.
Helen’s expression flickered with a hint of panic, but she quickly regained composure, "I didn’t do anything, they’re framing me! Daisy, I can’t spend the night at the police station; what would happen if the media found out?"
Daisy came over specifically because of this, hearing Helen say that, her heart filled with some urgency, she turned to the watching police officer, "Officer, can I take a look at the surveillance footage?"
Suddenly, Helen shouted, "Why do you want to see the footage? Just get me out of here!"
Noticing her reaction, Daisy felt a sudden premonition of dread—Goddamnit, could it be this person actually made a move on the man?
"The surveillance is in the computer," the policewoman said, "If you want to see it, I’ll get it for you."
"Thank you."
As they went out to retrieve the computer, Daisy approached Helen, "What the hell did you do?!"
This time, her tone was stern, Helen sat on the bench, breaking down and clutching her head, voice trembling: "I really didn’t do anything! I just, just heard that man was rich, so I deliberately... I didn’t expect he would report and arrest me!"
She merely sought to find another wealthy patron; how could she have imagined just a touch would get her hauled in here.
