Chapter 401 - 428 You Are Moved, Miss Ginger
Daisy Ginger was crouched down on the floor, breathing softly.
She didn’t say a word.
The soundproofing in the six-star hotel suite was excellent, not a whisper from downstairs could be heard. The entire space was silent, save for her own breathing.
She was silent for a while, then slowly crawled up from the ground, somewhat unsteady as she leaned against the wall, then raised her head to look at Robert Stephens.
"Partnering with you was a mistake." She raised her hand, wiping the blood at the corner of her mouth with the back of her hand, and smiled sardonically, "Matters of one’s own should be handled by oneself; placing hope on others is truly foolish."
She really must have been desperate to think her interests could align with Robert Stephens’.
How could they possibly align? He wished her dead.
Daisy didn’t look at him again, slowly moving towards the door, a bit disheveled.
Her hair hung messily over her body, clear choke marks on her neck, cheeks swollen. In this state, there was no way she could go downstairs. How would she explain this to Edward Stephens later?
Her fingers were on the doorknob when a man’s sinister voice came from behind: "Daisy, when did I say you could leave?"
With her back to him, Daisy replied, "If I’m not there, he’ll come looking for me. I doubt you’d want him to find me with you, right? In this state, you probably can’t explain it to him either."
The man let out a mocking laugh, "What do I have to explain?"
He looked towards Charlotte Smith and said, "Watch her, don’t let her run off."
Charlotte lowered her head, softly replied, "Yes."
Daisy quickly turned her head, only to see Charlotte already behind her. Her fingers pinched Daisy’s webbed space, making her grunt and subconsciously let go of the doorknob. Just as she wanted to break free, Charlotte had already dragged her to the wall, forcing her back against it.
Though it was just her spine being pressed, Daisy felt like she was under the weight of a mountain, unable to move her limbs or break free from her grip.
The man leisurely tidied his cuffs, gently wiping his slender fingers with a wet tissue as if they had touched something filthy.
"I wasn’t wrong, you’re indeed useless." Robert Stephens tossed the tissue on the ground, not looking at her again, and said indifferently, "But that’s fine, I wasn’t counting on you being of any use anyway."
Daisy’s whole body tensed up: "What do you intend to do?"
"You want a divorce from Edward, right? I’ll grant your wish." His tone was laced with disdain, clearly looking down on her, "Charlotte, take her to another room later, and don’t let her out tonight."
Standing behind Daisy, Charlotte obediently responded, "Yes."
Robert Stephens opened the door and left the room.
As the door closed, the suite became silent again.
Daisy took a deep breath and asked Charlotte Smith, "Are you just going to stand by and watch him deal with him in such a despicable way?"
Charlotte Smith softly replied, "Don’t you want the second young master to sleep with another woman?"
"It’s not the same thing."
Charlotte was silent for a moment, then slowly loosened her grip. Daisy turned her head, her gaze somewhat agitated. She no longer paid attention to Charlotte, but headed straight for the door.
Charlotte’s voice gently came from behind: "Sir was right, you’re tempted, Miss Ginger."
