Chapter 384 - 411: Truly Wants to Be with Her Forever

Daisy Ginger’s stretch paused slightly.

She turned her head to look at Edward Stephens, who was leaning against the headboard.

He was wearing a shirt, with a loosely tied tie, and his black hand-tailored suit was casually thrown on a nearby sofa. He looked like a big cat that hadn’t had enough sleep, lazily sprawled out, clearly too tired to even bother changing clothes after work before collapsing into bed.

She looked at his messy hair, reached out to smooth it down, and couldn’t help but laugh, "Are you a kid? Staying up all night just because I wasn’t home."

Edward caught her hand, playing with her slender fingertips in his palm, "This home is too lonely without you. I didn’t want to come back."

His fingers traced her palm, stirring a slight flutter in her heart.

Those words sounded so nice, and being needed felt so intoxicating. Daisy’s heart skipped a beat as his cool fingertips glided over her warm palm, like a current running from her fingertips straight to her heart.

"..." As if trying to avoid this strange feeling, Daisy instinctively withdrew her hand from his grasp.

Edward’s palm was suddenly empty, prompting him to raise his head and squint at her. Noticing Daisy’s evasive gaze, he chuckled for some reason, leaned closer, his face just a few centimeters from hers, and drawled, "Hey—"

Even though there was nothing on her palm now, Daisy couldn’t help but wipe her hand on her clothes, glancing up to see the leisurely look on Edward’s face. Instinctively, she leaned back, "What are you doing..."

Edward took advantage of her retreat and pressed closer. With his tall build and broad shoulders, he easily enveloped Daisy in his arms, lightly nuzzling her with his face, his tone light and playful, "You’re so good, coming back so early?"

Seeing her sick but still planning to head to Banyan City, he thought she’d be gone for at least half a month.

"Isn’t it good that I came back early?"

"It is. But now I don’t have a legitimate excuse to skip work and catch you."

Daisy chuckled softly, feeling tickled by his nuzzling, lightly patting the back of his head, "Stop it."

Edward switched from nuzzling to pecking, kissing her on the neck.

Since Daisy got injured, he hadn’t touched her, restraining himself for over two months. Holding her now, he felt a bit heated.

Daisy was tickled relentlessly, giggling nonstop in his arms, until his fingers began to caress her thigh, forcing her to speak up and put a stop to it.

"How many days has it been since you showered?"

"..." Edward paused, not pleased, giving her a sideways glance, "Why bring up such a mood-killing topic in bed?"

"I bet you haven’t even changed your socks these past few days," Daisy said.

"..." Edward gave her a sinister look for a moment, then bent down and bit her collarbone firmly, making her cry out, before getting off Daisy and heading to the bathroom for a shower.

Lying on the bed, Daisy reminisced about Edward’s frustrated yet resigned expression and couldn’t help but laugh to herself for a while.

After a bit, she lay in bed and pulled out a thin phone card from her pocket.

She gazed at the card for a moment, then lowered her eyes, letting out a soft sigh.

Closing her eyes, she felt a deep weariness wash over her.

*

This time, Edward gave her a great deal of freedom.

There was no longer anyone following her or surveillance on her movements, nor did he put anything in her food. He was trying to improve, genuinely wanting to be with her for the long haul.
