Chapter 698 - 193: So-Called Gods, Gods Explode

The ancient and mysterious temple stands silently in the ancient city. The stone structure is marked by the passage of time, and Ian cannot guess what era he has been brought to.

He looked up, the dim, yellow light seemingly sealed by time, seeping through the uneven gaps in the dome as arduously as a snail crawling.

Dust dances freely in this faint light, draping a mysterious and heavy veil over the ancient stone structure. The fire on the altar flickers continuously.

"There are traces of magic here." Ian glanced around; the ancient stone pillars are carved with strange totems, every stroke revealing the splendor and antiquity of this civilization.

Every stone he saw was engraved with the marks of time, the rough surfaces and mottled textures seem to whisper how long they have existed. On the walls, twisted and eerie patterns interweave, resembling ancient scripts or some mysterious totems.

As if hiding a power that could overturn the world’s understanding. Not only this, around the altar stands seven gigantic statues, their faces blurred by time yet still exuding a sense of majesty and mystery. Scattered on the ground are some broken stone tablets that seem to record historical events of the past.

"It’s not Rune Language..." Ian attempted to decipher the magic runes in this temple, but just like when he couldn’t understand the runes in the Mysterious Tower, he found himself in a blind spot of knowledge once again.

The runes here are somewhat similar to those in the tower, yet completely different systems; a rough estimate suggests that this moment is at least two thousand years before the twentieth century.

After all.

This type of rune structure last appeared in King Arthur’s era, so since Ian can see similar runes, the era he is in is definitely not later than King Arthur’s.

Just as Ian was still observing.

Outside.

The noise grew closer and closer, footsteps gradually appeared at the entrance, and the terrified little girl who ran away before was now brought back by a group of people wearing strange attire and with solemn expressions. Her face was full of panic, her hands and mouth controlled by others, only able to make faint whimpering sounds.

"For all of us, this is the mission you’ve been burdened with since birth, you must sing to the gods to let Them continue sleeping, or else we all will suffer the wrath of the gods."

The leader was tall and sturdy, like a small mountain. His face was covered with bizarre totems, holding a gemstone-embedded scepter, wearing a robe embroidered with strange symbols, and it rustled as he moved, emanating a vibe of an ancient wizard.

At this time.

This leading wizard was full of fury, his brow furrowed like an "S" shape, scolding the little girl severely, "Don’t use nonsensical talk to fool us, no one else is here, just us and the priests, no one else can intrude into our temple!"

"Not even a fly can enter..." The High Priest’s words were cut off as one of his subordinates poked his arm, impatiently shrugging off the hand.

However.

The hand poked him again.

"This is such a sacred place, I’m correcting our Dream Guardian Queen’s thoughts, don’t interrupt me..." The High Priest’s words were interrupted once more.

By other priests accompanying him.

"Oh my, there! There’s someone there!" These people were shocked, raising a finger towards the elevated altar, the forbidden zone not meant for anyone.

"No!"

The elderly High Priest finally turned his head properly, terrified at the sight of the Little Wizard on the high platform. Ian was curiously gazing at the ancient group.

"What heinous sin this is! Damn child!" The High Priest’s face turned pale, his whole body trembling, raising the scepter intending to cast a spell but fearing desecration of the altar.

"Did the gods... the gods really awaken!?" A priest with runes engraved on his skin exclaimed in disbelief, his voice lacking any excitement or joy.

Full of fear and dread.

The other priests shared similar expressions.

"He’s not a god! Don’t panic!" The High Priest hurriedly tried to calm the other priests, his tone very certain, albeit containing some underlying unease.

"How could He not be! The altar just glowed, and then He spoke to me!" With the priest releasing the wealthy-dressed little girl, she immediately raised her doubts.

"You were just mocked!"

The High Priest sternly glared at the little girl, then angrily turned to Ian, "Who are you! How dare you intrude into the temple at this time!"

The man’s voice was deep and cold, his gaze like a knife towards Ian on the altar. The Little Wizard remained unfazed, raising his eyebrows sardonically.

"Where is this place?"

Ian did not answer the question.

He was more concerned about the era and location he found himself in.

"This is a forbidden place, your actions have severely disturbed the gods’ peace, you must come down immediately and face the punishment for your sins!" The High Priest didn’t care if Ian was a child, his voice angry yet not daring to speak too loudly.
