His Untold Lies

Chapter 27 Cat Fight

Chapter 27 Cat Fight

KIA

I took a deep breath before assembling my list of essentials: a vacuum cleaner, furniture polish, a dust cloth, window cleaner, paper towels, a laundry basket, and a bit of extra energy. Since my schedule today begins in the afternoon, there's no rush to leave for school early. Hence, I decided to tackle some general cleaning around the house. I meticulously sprayed each window pane one by one with the window cleaner, ensuring to reach every corner and eliminate any smudges present on the surface.

"Hon, I'm heading to work now! See you later, hon. Love you!" Ares declared and planted a kiss on my forehead.

As he was about to leave, I suddenly grabbed his hand. "Wait- I have something for you." I hurriedly went to the bedroom to retrieve the bracelet I bought yesterday. "Here! I forgot to give you this yesterday. I hope you like it," I murmured, handing him the pair of ruby bracelets.

"You have one too! Are these matching bracelets, hon?" he inquired, and I responded with a smile and a nod. He put it on and embraced me tightly. "I'm thrilled that you were thinking of me while you were out shopping. Thank you so much! I really love it!"

"Go now. You might get caught in traffic if you don't leave soon. I don't want you to be late."

"Alright, I'll see you later. Love you!"

I never imagined that a marriage contract could result in such a wonderful life with him. It felt like a dream I never wanted to wake up from. Once he left, I decided to continue my general cleaning, as there were still some untouched corners of the house. While I was busy sweeping the floor, I noticed the second room, which he had never opened since I moved in with him. He mentioned it was a storage room for various household items and that he hadn't opened it due to its messy state and his lack of time to clean it.

I went to the bedroom and retrieved the keys from the cabinet. Since I had plenty of time, I decided to tackle the cleaning of the storage room as well. I unlocked the doorknob with the key and opened it, only to be shocked by the chaos inside. The room resembled a small office, with a table and an office chair, but files were strewn across the floor.

"What kind of storm passed through here? Maybe he hasn't had the time to clean this mess since he lives alone and spends most of his time at work..."

I began gathering all the scattered files into one place. Once the floor was clear of documents, I used the vacuum cleaner to thoroughly clean it. After finishing with the vacuuming, I noticed a picture frame on the table that piqued my interest, so I picked it up.

It was a picture of Ares seated in an office chair, with a CEO sign on the table, though it didn't specify the CEO's name.

"I didn't know he was so close to his boss that he'd even sit in his chair."

I took a towel and wiped the dust off the picture frame before placing it back on the table. When I finished, I left the room and checked the time. It was still 10:28 a.m., with two and a half hours left before my class began. Perhaps I would have lunch in the cafeteria later. After a brief ten-minute break, I rushed to the bathroom to freshen up and prepare for school.

...

The University of Cavite

As I entered through the gate, the two-flight stairs next to the main entrance, leading to some grocery stores on the first floor, seemed to divide this dining establishment into two distinct sections. It was almost like an imaginary boundary: white plastic dining tables and fixed seats were neatly arranged all around the staircase. Despite the university offering noon classes, the room was less crowded than I had expected. Not everyone was dining; some were engrossed in books, carrying bags, donning sunglasses, or engrossed in their laptops (the canteen provided decent internet access). Others simply engaged in casual conversations with friends without placing an order.

Even though I had the option to dine at a restaurant, I opted for the school cafeteria today due to time constraints. However, as soon as I sat down and caught sight of the oxtail stew with creamed spinach and potatoes, my mouth began to water. A bowl of creamed spinach was placed before me-dark green and finely chopped, with a creamy white texture and steam rising from it, indicating it had just been cooked. I inhaled the warm, distinct scent of spinach. Next to it sat a bowl of silky white mashed potatoes, enriched with butter and milk for flavor and smoothness. Its texture was indulgent, creamy, velvety, and satisfying. I couldn't wait to dig in.

"Poor Kianna, it looks like your husband is starving you. You married a man even poorer than a rat, so it's your own fault for living like this!" My half-sister, Asteria, teased with a giggle, standing with her arms crossed in front of me.

I chose to ignore her and continued eating, but she suddenly smacked my hand, causing the spoon I held to clatter. I stood up and glared at her, seething with anger.

"What's your problem?! Can't you see I'm trying to eat here?"

She laughed and raised an eyebrow. "Well, unlike you, I'm not blind to the fact that your fiancé played you and you act clueless every day!"

A smirk played on my lips in response. "You're right; you're nothing like me. You're a spoiled troublemaker who enjoys meddling in other people's relationships and stealing their boyfriends. A real snake, aren't you?"

My words caught the attention of those nearby, and the cafeteria started buzzing with commotion. Asteria noticed people looking in our direction and seemed embarrassed by the attention.

"How dare you!" She moved to slap me, but I reacted first and slapped her hand away.

A hush fell over the entire cafeteria. Not a sound could be heard as all eyes were on us. Some began recording the altercation on their phones. Asteria touched her face, appearing as if she might cry.

"Does it hurt? Do you finally understand that one slap won't atone for your actions? I've given you a chance to leave me alone and stop bothering me, but here you are, interrupting my lunch. Since I have a class to attend, I'll let it slide this time. But if you bother me again, I'll make sure you face the consequences." I grabbed my bag and began walking out of the cafeteria, but then she uttered something derogatory under her breath that ignited my anger even further.

"You really resemble your slutty mother in every way."

It seemed like a piercing noise that kept repeating in my ear.

"Ohh! The Saavedra's sister will start a fight! How do you feel about that, Kianna?" There was noise everywhere and it helped to trigger my anger.

I slowly faced Asteria. She continued to smile and appeared proud of what she had said. That face deserves the ground.

"What did you say-"

"Are you deaf? I said that you resemble your slutty mother-" She was unable to finish what she was saying when I abruptly rushed at her and pulled her hair.

After she slapped me, I grabbed her in a bear hug. We were both drenched in sweat, our clothes soaked. Then we tumbled to the ground, rolling on top of each other. We got back up and continued slapping and hitting each other's backs. Again, we ended up on the ground, this time with even more forceful punches and slaps. But exhaustion and sweat eventually got the best of us.

The guards approached, sternly ordering us to stop. We took a brief pause from our exhausted state, and the guards escorted us all the way to the dean's office.
