Chapter 20 Treasure
Chapter 20 Treasure
KIA
Days had passed, and I couldn't help but notice that Ares was even more amazing and kinder than I had initially thought. His consistency was commendable, and it made me realize that he truly deserved a loving wife. Despite our marriage being an agreement, I couldn't deny that I found happiness in his company.
Lately, though, I've been having these thoughts... Two years from now, will I regret parting ways with him?
If only he had been with me eight years ago...
Wait a minute! Why am I thinking this way? Could it be that I... I've fallen for him? I gasped in shock, my hand covering my mouth. This couldn't be happening! It's just a business arrangement!
I shook my head vigorously, attempting to dispel the thoughts that had crept into my mind. With two years left before we go our separate ways, I should focus on saving money for my overseas studies. I needed to put an end to this nonsense and concentrate on my own life. These feelings would only lead me down a path of heartbreak, just like before.
Sigh!
I must have let my mind wander during my long bath. I stood up and reached for my clothes on the table, only to find them missing.
Did I forget to bring my clothes and underwear?
Oh, no! This is a disaster!
Panic set in, and I began pacing in circles. What should I do? Should I ask Ares for help?
...
While Kianna enjoyed her bath, Ares decided to take on the role of a chef for her. He had bought a cookbook the day before to help him improve his cooking skills.
"Perfection is the hallmark of the CEO of Vueravista Company. I can't allow Kia to discover that I don't know how to cook. From now on, I'll do my best to master cooking. Nothing is impossible for Ares France Vuertalejo!" Ares mumbled, trying to motivate himself as he held the cookbook he had purchased.
He began perusing the cookbook, searching for a delicious meal to prepare for lunch.
"Hon? Hon, are you there? Hon, can you come here for a second?"
Ares immediately set the cookbook on the table and headed toward Kia.
"Is everything okay?" Ares inquired, attempting to open the bathroom door.
"Don't come in! Just stay by the door!" Kia shouted frantically.
Ares furrowed his brows and gasped when he caught sight of Kia's reflection. "But... Why did you call me? Is there something you need? Did you hurt yourself in there?"
Kia cracked the door open slightly and tilted her head, peeking at Ares. "I, uh... I forgot to bring clothes to wear and undergarments. Could you please... Why are you looking at me like that? Stop staring!"
"Do you want me to close my eyes, like this?" Ares jokingly closed his eyes. "I can't see a thing! Am I doing it right, hon?"
Kia facepalmed while scolding him, "Quit it, you goof!"
Ares burst into laughter, tears streaming down his cheeks. "Okay! Okay! As you wish! So, it's undergarments and clothes, right?"
Kia nodded, blushing. "Yeah, just a dress will do. Thank you!"
Ares rushed to their room, frantically searching through the cabinet for a dress and undergarments. He opened drawers and cabinets, struggling to find the undergarments. "Not here... Not this one... Oh, wait! How about this?" He carefully opened a small drawer and found a pair of undergarments, much to his relief. "Bingo, found it! My... My treasure!" Ares exclaimed, lost in a momentary daydream.
"Ares! Did you find it? Can you please hurry?! Ares, have you found my clothes? I am freezing in here!" Kia's sudden cry startled him. He quickly located the dress she had mentioned and grabbed the first pair of underwear he found.
"I'm coming! I'm coming! I'll get them for you right away!" Ares rushed to the bathroom, where he handed Kia the clothes and underwear. "Here you go! I'm so sorry it took me a while. I didn't know your undergarments were in that small drawer," he apologized while scratching his head.
Kia gave her husband a curious look. "Hmm... Why do you seem so suspicious?"
"I'm not!" Ares hurriedly left the bathroom.
Entering the living room, he grabbed his cookbook and headed to the kitchen to start preparing lunch. "What should we make for today's lunch? How about pork adobo? It seems pretty straightforward," Ares muttered as he gathered the necessary ingredients and seasonings.
As Ares busied himself in the kitchen, Kia got dressed and began her skincare routine. Her phone buzzed unexpectedly, and she was surprised to see her father calling.
"Daddy? How nice of you to remember me all of a sudden. Did you just recall that I'm your daughter?" Kia replied sarcastically.
She answered the call and waited for her father to speak.
"Hello, Kianna? How have you been recently?" her father's voice sounded on the other end.
"Wow, Dad! You care now?"
"Kianna, I'm truly sorry about what happened last time you were here. I was worried that you didn't go home after school. And when I heard the news about your marriage, it made me even more upset. Why didn't you inform me first?"
"What do you want?" Kia asked, her tone curt.
"...Why? Can't I simply give you a call? Come home for dinner tomorrow night. I'll ask your mom to prepare your favorite dishes."
"Stepmom... Fine, I'll be there tomorrow. I have to go," Kia said, ending the call abruptly without a proper farewell to her father.
