Chapter 235
Chapter 235
"The plane tree?" Connor shook his head and smiled. "Bartz planted it himself. I'm afraid that I can't get it back for you even if you want it. Unless I take you there to live so that you get to see it every day."
"I heard it from Marcus. The woman Bartz fell for. What was she like?"
Connor looked at her and asked, "You wanna know?"
"Yes. I've seen Bartz's photos. I wonder what kind of woman would he fall for?"
After pondering for a while, Connor said, "Actually, I never saw that woman. I only heard about her from Bartz. She was kind and gentle, and he owed her a lot."
Annette nodded.
"Why didn't he end up with the woman he loved? When Lucas asked me to leave you before, he mentioned Bartz. Bartz seemed to have had some sort of relationship with Kate."
"It was all that crazy Kate's fault. She lied to Bartz and killed him. Without her, Bartz would have been with the one he loved. The Black Thorn Pack cannot pay for Kate's sins."
As Connor talked, his expression grew colder.
Annette sighed softly, "That's the reason for the feud between the two packs."
Connor looked at her and said, "Don't overthink it. It has nothing to do with you. You aren't a part of the Black Thorn Pack. You never were, and you never will be."
Annette smiled at him and said, "By the way, when the plane tree blooms again, come with me to Marcus' villa to enjoy the flowers, will you?"
"I'll take you there every year now that you like it. We will enjoy the flowers till we get old."
Annette looked at him, feeling touched.
Thinking of the time when she and Sharon stood in the yard looking at the plane tree flowers, Annette said wistfully, "I want to go there because it was Sharon's favorite flower."
Connor said, "I thought it was only the woman Bartz loved who had unique tastes. It turns out Sharon was the same."
"By the way," Annette looked at him and said. "Jessica was sent to jail for a year."
"Hari told me. Has anyone from the Black Thorn Pack contacted you?"
Annette nodded and said, "Lance called me. But that won't change anything. No one can be above the law. Jessica deserves it."
"Touché. The Black Thorn Pack owes us, so they must pay."
Annette nodded perfunctorily and didn't say anything else.
When she arrived at school the next day, all the student instructors in the office were busy.
Winter vacation was around the corner, and everyone wanted the year to end on a high note.
At lunch hour, Annette planned on inviting Sara out for food.
Alanna rushed in and grabbed Sara's hand. She said as they walked out, "Sara, go to the school gate. You're in big trouble."
Sara looked confused and asked, "What happened?"
"You'll see."
Annette got up and went out as well.
They saw a lot of people gathered at the school gate from a distance.
They squeezed into the crowd and saw that the one at the gate was Jennifer.
Jennifer had a sign hanging on her chest that read, "Sara, the student instructor, is a home-wrecker and ruins my four-year relationship. She doesn't deserve to be a teacher."
Annette was furious after reading the sign.
She thought, 'I wanted to help Sara with her relationship. It never occurred to me that I would put her in such a situation.'
Sara walked over to Jennifer, looking serious.
"Ms. Burns, this is the school gate, not a place for you to mess around. Please leave."
Unlike last time, Jennifer wasn't acting arrogantly. Instead, she looked vulnerable and weak.
"I am the victim. Why can't I come here to accuse you of what you did?"
Annette walked over and said angrily, "Sara isn't with Zachary. Even if they are together, so what? They met each other after you two broke up. So, why is she a home-wrecker?"
"Annette, I know you are Connor's woman, so I can't afford to mess with you. But that doesn't mean you get to blabber nonsense."
Annette said in disbelief, "Was I wrong? Wasn't it you who went crazy and came to the wrong place?"
Sara stepped forward and blocked Annette, looking towards Jennifer.
"Ms. Burns, what proof do you have to accuse me of being a home-wrecker?"
"I've got photos to prove it." Jennifer pulled a pile of photos out of her bag and tossed them to the ground.
Those photos were scattered on the ground, photos of Sara and Zachary staying together.
Annette picked up a photo of the two sitting in a car and sneered, "What does that prove? Sara was in Zachary's car? How does it prove that they are in a relationship? So, if someone takes a taxi, does it mean she is dating the taxi driver?"
Jennifer looked angrily at Annette and said, "Sara clearly has a crush on Zachary."
Sara said, "I only met Mr. Joseph three times, and we barely spoke, yet you slander me like this. Now it seems that I will owe you all the effort you put into smearing me if I don't prove my innocence. So, I will try my best to pursue Zachary. And I won't let you have your way."
She said and then walked towards the school with Annette and Alanna.
Behind them, Jennifer shouted, "I'm not going to let this go! I swear that I'll get to the bottom of it."
Alanna looked back as she walked. It wasn't until they were far away that she began to worry. "Sara, what a terrible woman you've messed with. She's kind of crazy."
Sara waved her hand and said, "Let her be. She is just a lunatic."
Annette said to Alanna, "Why don't you go back to the office? I want to talk to Sara alone for a minute."
"Alright." Alanna glanced in the direction of the school gate before leaving.
Annette pulled Sara's hand and said, "Sara, I'm sorry. I think this is all my fault, trying to match you and Zachary."
"Annette, don't say that. I had a crush on him. I made that decision and I should live with the consequences. It's fine. I'm not afraid of her."
"You were a tough young lady just now back there."
Sara said angrily, " I believe Connor's words after seeing the way Jennifer acted in front of the crowd. She only goes crazy when she is with Mr. Joseph. Women like her bully pushovers only. So, I can't back down. Annette, it's OK now. Let's go back to the office."
Sara pulled Annette's hand and went back to the office.
As soon as they entered the door, Alanna pointed at the office phone on the desk, looking a bit embarrassed.
"Sara, I just received a call. Darren asked for you."
Sara took a deep breath and said, "I'll go check it out."
Sara opened the door and went out.
Alanna walked over and asked Annette anxiously, "Sara will be fine, right?"
Annette nodded and said, "Sure. She didn't do anything wrong."
"But I have a bad feeling about it. A lot of people were there just now."
Annette thought and figured that if it hadn't been for her, Sara wouldn't have met Zachary, and then Sara wouldn't have gotten into trouble.
So, Annette wouldn't sit on the fence.
