　　Connor was happy that Annette took the initiative to counterattack, and he contacted Hari immediately.

　　"Hari, go check out Thea's bank account and prove that the transfer has something to do with the Black Thorn Pack. Also, at two o'clock in the afternoon, ask Amanda to come to my office," Connor said as Annette requested.

　　Annette frowned and asked, "Why do you want to see Amanda?"

　　Connor smiled, "You'll know when the time comes. Call Catherine later and ask her to come to my office in the afternoon."

　　"Catherine?" Annette asked, "Why do you look for her? Are you going to arrange a job for her?"

　　"That's right. Catherine offended Jessica because of you, and Jessica would not let her stay in the Fisher Group anymore. Catherine lost her job because of you. I certainly have to make up for her. The condition is that you have to call me hubby."

　　Annette shook her head as if she had thought of something. She said on purpose, "That's not right. It's troublesome for Catherine to go to your company. Forget it."

　　Connor said through gritted teeth, "Call me hubby. I'll arrange for her to work at the Calley Group."

　　Annette was pleasantly surprised. The Calley Group was more suitable than the Fisher Group.

　　She looked at Connor and said under his expectant gaze, "Hubby, do me a favor."

　　Then, Connor felt his heart soften.

　　He pulled Annette into his arms and started kissing her.

　　Annette felt it was hard to breathe.

　　She turned her head and said, "You bumped my belly."

　　Connor looked down at her abdomen and frowned. "This child didn't come at the right time. It has affected my sex life."

　　Annette raised her hand to cover his mouth hurriedly. She scolded, "Stop it. The baby is listening. You will make it think that we don't like it."

　　Connor stroked her belly gently.

　　"Daddy loves you."

　　Annette's heart tightened.

　　Though her father never loved her, she knew that her child would have a great father.

　　She looked up and said, "Connor."

　　"Call me hubby."

　　"Listen to me."

　　"Go ahead."

　　Annette's eyes were serious. "Promise me you'll be a good father and make your child the happiest one in the world. OK?"

　　Connor noticed the seriousness in her eyes and pulled her into his arms.

　　"No matter how many men are like Lance, I will not be one of them. I will take good care of you and our child. I promise you. You are pregnant now. I don't want those annoying things to affect your mood. I will handle them for you."

　　Annette nodded and nestled into Connor's arms.

　　For no reason, she simply trusted him.

　　"I'm hungry."

　　Connor let go of Annette, complaining in his heart that she was always good at ruining the atmosphere.

　　'Forget it,' he thought.

　　"You've been gluttonous recently."

　　"You just said that you would give me anything I wanted. It hasn't even been three minutes, yet you think I eat too much." Annette glared at Connor.

　　After lunch, Connor went back to work.

　　Annette was a little sleepy and went upstairs for a rest.

　　Before she fell asleep, her phone rang.

　　She did not pick it up when she saw that it was Lance calling.

　　However, Lance would not give up until he achieved his goal. If Annette did not pick up the phone, he would keep calling.

　　Annette answered the phone, and her tone was not friendly. She asked, "What do you want now?"

　　"Your reputation is ruined. How can you still be so arrogant to me?"

　　Annette sneered. "Don't worry about my reputation. You must have something to say to me. Just cut to the chase and say it. Otherwise, I will hang up."

　　"Go to Europe. I have asked Austin to prepare everything for you. You can leave in half a month at the latest."

　　"Why do you think you have the right to decide on it?" Annette was angry and sat up straight.

　　"Do you want to stay here?" Lance said furiously, "If your mother was still alive, would she want you to live such a life?"

　　Annette became furious and shouted, "Don't mention Sharon! You are not qualified to mention her!"

　　"Ann, the relationship between me and Sharon was good at the beginning. I wasn't the one who betrayed her first. Many things happened later on, which drove me a little crazy. So, I hurt her. If she and I didn't miss each other, our relationship wouldn't have ended like that. Ann, there are things you won't understand."

　　"Sharon is dead, and you are still slandering her."

　　"Ann, I..."

　　"Enough, Lance. Do you think you can change my opinion about you with just a few words? You not only destroy Sharon's life but also ruin my trust in people, my respect for my father, and my expectation of a family. Because of you, I didn't dare to act as I wanted when I fell in love with someone. It was not easy for me to meet a man who truly loves me, but you always hinder us. Lance, are you so not OK to see me happy?"

　　"If you were not my daughter, I would never care about your business. Look at what you have done to yourself. Have all your efforts been in vain? How about your dream?"

　　Annette laughed sarcastically. She said, "Have you ever cared about my dreams?"

　　"I know that being a teacher is not your real dream. It is Sharon's. I can help you realize your dream. I will give you a sum of money. With it, you can go to Europe and start a new life. You can do whatever you want. OK?"

　　"That's funny. As a father, you have never been my role model. Now, I don't need you anymore, yet you stand out to be a backseat driver. Lance, you are the biggest burden and stumbling block in my life. I hope you will never contact me again in the future. I have nothing to do with you. Please keep this in mind forever."

　　Annette hung up the phone and threw it on the bed.

　　A moment later, she calmed down a little.

　　She lay down and curled up on the bed.

　　She said inwardly, 'Mom, why did you choose such a man?

　　'I would rather not have a father. Lance disgusts me!'

　　In the afternoon, Amanda arrived at Connor's office on time. Hari stood aside.

　　Connor asked Amanda, "Do you have anything that can restrain Thea? Such as the evidence when she had an affair with Melvin."

　　Amanda said without thinking, "Yes. I secretly recorded the scene of Thea being intimate with Mr. Horton in the office before because I was unconvinced."

　　"Very good. Mr. Wincott has evidence of Thea getting money from Jessica to help frame someone. Go with Mr. Wincott to meet Thea later. He will tell you what you need to do on the way."

　　Connor told Amanda about the plan he and Annette had discussed to deal with Thea.

　　Amanda said respectfully, "Okay, Alpha Connor."

　　Hari left with Amanda.

　　Connor called Woody.

　　Hearing that Connor was going to arrange for another person to work in the Calley Group, Woody could not help but smile. He said, "Connor, how many people have offended you recently?"

　　"She is Annette's friend. I need you to take care of her. I want you to assign her as Judica's superior. Her salary will be paid by the Norman Group."

　　"She works for me, but you will pay her. I am not that poor. Call her and ask her to come to work tomorrow."

　　After hanging up the phone, Connor was getting busy.
