Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Connor started working after hanging up the phone. After he finished his work, he went near the window to smoke.
He looked out from the balcony and saw the light reflected on the lawn outside Annette's room downstairs.
He tilted his head and glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already late. He thought, 'Is she still up? Or is Marcus still in her room?'
He put out the cigarette, went downstairs, and came to the door of Annette's room.
He knocked on the door, but no one answered.
He put his hand on the doorknob and gently pushed the door. The door was unlocked.
He looked into the room. There was no sign of Marcus.
Annette was lying on the bed. She had earphones on, one hand on the book on the bed, the other hand holding a pen, nibbling on it, and writing something down on the book from time to time.
He entered the room, but she didn't notice him at all.
Annette felt a bit worn out. When she was stretching, she suddenly saw a person standing by the bed.
Before she could see who it was, she screamed and quickly turned to the other side of the bed in fright.
Connor quickly jumped onto the bed and grabbed her.
She looked at him and asked, "Why are you here?"
Connor tilted his head and smiled. He said, "Did I scare you?"
"In the middle of the night, a man suddenly stood by my bed. What do you think?" She frowned. "Alpha Connor, don't you even knock when you enter someone's room?"
"I did. You didn't hear me."
She removed her earphones and swung them casually. "I had my earphones on, so I didn't hear you. What's up?"
"Nothing. I was upstairs, and I saw that the lights in your room were still on. I knew you weren't asleep, so I came down to see if Marcus was still with you."
"Marcus left at nine."
Connor picked up her book and flipped through it.
"You like math?" He glanced at her as he flipped through the book.
She nodded.
"I guess some of the questions in this book will even give your teacher a headache."
Annette shrugged and said, "Indeed. I cannot figure out some of them."
"I can. Do you want me to teach you?" Connor said suddenly.
She nodded at once.
He put the book on his knees, picked up the pen that she had been gnawing at, and began to teach her.
Connor only used a few minutes to provide her with a solution.
He explained in a serious tone, and she listened carefully. Time passed quickly.
...
The next morning, Annette's alarm clock rang. She was still sleeping, and she was in a daze. As she turned over to reach for her phone, she realized that someone was holding her from behind.
It was so warm and he hugged her so tightly.
Her mind buzzed, and she realized that something was wrong.
Suddenly, Connor's voice sounded behind her head. "Aren't you going to turn off the alarm? It's noisy."
Annette sat up abruptly and turned to look at him.
Connor's lazy gaze landed on her face. "Morning."
"Morning." She blushed and looked away.
She thought, 'Shit! This can't be happening. After he explained the last question last night, I solved it and wanted to show my solution to him, only to find that he was asleep in my bed.
He looked so handsome when he was asleep.
I was planning on sneaking a few looks. Then I would wake him up and let him go back to his room.
However, I fell asleep as well before I knew it.'
Connor pointed in the direction of her phone.
She pounced over, picked up her phone, and turned off the alarm.
He sat up and stretched. "It was the first time I fell asleep while studying. It seems that your eagerness to learn is contagious."
She was a little embarrassed and said, "Thanks for the help."
As he walked to the door, he said, "If it weren't for me, you would have fallen to the ground, so I'll take it."
He opened the door and went out. She blushed slightly and thought, 'I didn't thank you for that, OK?'
When Connor walked out of the door, Dwayne and the others were shocked. They never expected to see Connor walking out of Annette's room at such a time.
They quickly greeted Connor. Connor was in a very good mood and said, "Go and do your work."
Connor thought, 'I woke up in the middle of the night and saw her sleeping at the end of the bed like a kitten.
I wanted to carry her back to the head of the bed, but she rolled over to the end of the bed again.
Therefore, I just lay at the end of the bed to block her body.
She turned over and nestled in my arms.
I hugged her. At that moment, I decided to stay for the night.
For the first time, I found it nice to be in bed with a woman all night.'
"You're in love with her," Leo said while Connor was in a good mood.
"You should be more of an expert than I am when it comes to finding a mate," Connor responded to Leo.
"She smells like a mate to me, but I don't know why. I can't say for sure," Leo replied seriously. He seemed to have been troubled by such feelings.
"Then we shall wait until you figure it out," Connor didn't want to be caught up in the unknown as Leo did, so he stopped Leo.
Connor came downstairs to eat. He looked at Dwayne. "Go and tell Annette that breakfast is ready."
Dwayne said, "Annette said she needed to go back to the university, so she left already."
Connor smiled and thought, 'Really? Does she need to go back?
She's just shy and trying to avoid seeing me.'
"Call Leonard and ask him to buy breakfast for Annette on the way."
"OK."
When Annette entered the university, she quickly ran toward the building while holding the breakfast Leonard had bought for her.
When the teacher entered the classroom, Annette's phone vibrated.
She took out her phone and saw that it was a text from Fiona. She was instantly in a bad mood.
At noon, after class, she went to Fiona's office.
Fiona looked at Annette, as cold as ever.
Annette said respectfully, "Hello, Fiona. You want to see me?"
"I thought last time you said you'd reject Kyle."
"We broke up already."
"Then tell me. What are these?"
Fiona threw a stack of photos in front of Annette's feet.
Instead of bending over to pick them up, Annette simply looked down.
The photos were of what happened yesterday. Kyle was at the school playground and half-knelt in front of her to confess.
Annette looked at Fiona calmly. "Kyle was pestering me yesterday, but don't worry. He has already given up on me."
