Chapter 189
Chapter 189
Annette was stunned for a moment. She looked back at Austin and asked, "What do you mean?"
"There are no buses or taxis. You don't have a phone, and you can't hail a car online."
"I will walk back."
"It will take two hours to walk to the nearest bus station, and there are no street lights on the road. If I were you, I would choose to rest here."
Annette bit her lips and said, "Connor will find me."
"There are no surveillance cameras on the way. Connor can't find you. Otherwise, I won't bring you here."
Annette clenched her fists and said, "Are you trying to put me under house arrest?"
Austin turned around and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window in the backyard.
Annette stepped forward and asked unhappily, "Why are you doing this?"
"It is Dad's idea," Austin did not turn to look at her. He said coldly, "He does not want his daughter to have anything to do with the Blood Moon Pack."
Annette smiled disdainfully. She said, "Some time ago, he ordered me to bring Jessica and Connor together. But in the blink of an eye, he doesn't want his daughter to have anything to do with the Blood Moon Pack. Don't you think it is ridiculous?"
"You are different from Jessica. We don't want you to get hurt."
"You don't want me to get hurt? I'm feeling a double standard here."
Annette walked to the sofa and sat down. Although she was angry, she tried to suppress her emotions.
She did not intend to leave alone.
If she was alone, she would be fearless. However, she was pregnant, and she could not risk the baby's life.
"If I do not agree to your request, do you intend to lock me up for a lifetime?"
Annette turned and looked coldly at Austin's back.
Austin said, "If necessary, Dad will send you to Europe."
"Why does he think he can do that to me?"
"Though you won't admit it, you are still his daughter. That's something you can never deny."
Annette laughed in anger.
Austin looked back at her and asked, "Why are you laughing? Do you think we are trying to hurt you?"
"The people of the Black Thorn Pack will never care about me. I know that for a fact."
"We will leave you alone if we don't care about you."
Annette said, "When I needed him, he told me that he didn't have a daughter like me. Now, I don't need it, yet he showed up and told me that he was trying to look out for me. Don't you think it's ironic? Is he worthy?"
"Annette, everyone makes mistakes. He is your father after all. He has his reasons. You can't hate him for the rest of your life."
Annette gritted her teeth angrily. She asked, "Should I forgive him? Should I forget about Sharon's death and forgive a man who has never fulfilled his duty as a father to me?"
"You should learn to be tolerant."
Annette looked at Austin with disdain. She said, "In the past, I thought that you were on my side. But now I know that I was wrong."
"Annette..."
Annette did not want to listen to Austin anymore and cut in, "You have no idea of what I've been through, so you don't get to tell me what to do. I won't forgive Lance for the rest of my life."
Annette looked determined, and Austin knew that he could not persuade her.
Annette had been independent since she was a child.
If she said that she hated her father, then she meant it.
Annette stood up and said, "Tomorrow morning, I will leave. If you don't let me go, no matter what Connor did to you in the future, you deserve it. You'd better tell your father what I said."
She looked upstairs and said, "I am going upstairs to rest now."
"Annette," Austin called out to her.
Annette walked to the stairs and stopped. She asked, "What else do you want to say?"
"Whether you believe it or not, I'm doing this for your good. I don't want you to be hurt. Even if you hate me, I hope that you can live a happy life."
Annette shifted her gaze and walked upstairs.
No matter if Austin was good for her or not, she would not appreciate his overbearing attitude.
She locked the door after going upstairs.
Annette walked to the bed and sat down, but she couldn't sleep.
Connor must be worried now.
She lay down sideways. When Connor was by her side before, she didn't feel anything.
Now, they were forced to be separated, and Annette felt that she missed Connor very much.
She closed her eyes and comforted herself, 'Go to sleep. I wouldn't feel hungry after I fell asleep.'
Annette was almost asleep, and she vaguely heard the sound of a car stalling downstairs.
Then, someone smashed the door and was fighting downstairs.
Annette thought that she had probably gone crazy. She hoped to leave, so she had such a dream.
But then, a loud noise woke her up.
The sounds of fighting downstairs became clearer.
She could hear Austin roar madly. "Even if Annette will spend her life alone, I will not allow her to be with a man from the Blood Moon Pack."
"What makes you think that you can decide it for Annette? Today, I will let you know you have overestimated yourself."
Annette raised her hand to cover her lips. It was Connor's voice.
She got out of bed hurriedly. She unlocked the door and went downstairs.
At that moment, Connor and Austin were still fighting.
Annette went downstairs and shouted, "Stop fighting. Do you hear me!"
However, Connor and Austin were unwilling to admit defeat and did not listen to what Annette said.
Annette stepped forward and grabbed Connor with one hand and Austin with the other. She shouted, "Stop."
Connor pushed Austin away from him and turned to look at Annette.
"Are you alright?"
Annette nodded and smiled. "I'm fine."
Austin felt Annette's smile unpleasant to the eye.
Connor said, "Stay there and wait for me. I have to teach him a lesson."
Annette pulled him and said, "No. Let's get out of here."
Connor stared at her for a long time. Annette held his hand tightly, her expression pleading. "I'm so hungry. Let's go. Please."
Connor turned around and glared fiercely at Austin before leaving with Annette in his arms.
Annette walked to the door. She stopped and walked back to Austin.
"Go back and pass my words to Lance," he stretched out her hand and said, "And hand in Annette's phone."
Austin looked at her face and did not move.
Annette's eyes were cold. "I have a lot of work memos on my phone. Now, give it back."
Austin turned and walked aside. He took out her phone from a drawer and handed it to her.
Annette no longer hesitated. She walked to Connor and left with him.
