His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 185

Chapter 185

"Alpha Connor, it did have something to do with Annette," Alanna said, thinking of Judica's disgusting face. "Actually, we ran into Ms. Crace, Mr. Crace's daughter, outside the office building on our way out."

Alanna told Connor what had happened.

Connor nodded and said, "I see. If anything happens to Annette at school, please let me know. You'll be treated fairly."

Alanna quickly nodded and said, "OK, Alpha Connor. I will."

Connor hung up the phone and sat in the yard for a moment. Then he dialed Woody's number.

  "Woody, I need a favor."

"Favor? Such a word doesn't exist when it comes to you and me. Name it."

"Find me a vacant executive position at your company, and I'll have someone over to fill it. Then you find someone to teach her a lesson. If they get to tempt her to do something out of line, that will be even better. I want something on her."

Woody could not help but laugh. He immediately agreed, "She is so dumb to mess with you. Leave it to me."

"Alright. Let's go get some drinks sometime."

"No problem. By the way, what's up with you and the Black Thorn Pack these days?"

  "What about it?"

"Austin has been sticking his finger in my business. I guess he can't wait to get back on his feet."

"Stall him for me. I'll make sure the Black Thorn Pack suffers."

Woody scoffed, "You're so mean. Jessica from the Black Thorn Pack is obsessed with you."

"She messes with me, and this is what they deserve."

"I heard from Harrison that you are very serious about Annette. Don't scare her away."

Connor couldn't help but smile when he heard Woody's words.

At noon the next day, Alanna came back from outside and shouted excitedly, "Let's go shopping together at noon."

Sara glanced at Alanna, and then lowered her head to continue her work while asking, "Alanna, did you win the lottery?"

"I just heard from those in the next office that the Fisher Group's new products are on sale. They are going. Shall we go as well?"

Eden said, "Don't let my girlfriend hear that, or my wallet will be empty again this month."

Annette looked at Alanna in confusion. "Alanna, I don't think the Fisher Group's cosmetics are ever on sale. Are you sure about that?"

"A hundred percent!" Alanna sat down in front of the desk. Then she continued, "I heard that the Fisher Group is in a business crisis and is in urgent need of liquidity."

Sara looked at Annette and asked, "Annette, are you going?"

Annette, who was wondering, came back to her senses and shook her head. "No. You guys go ahead."

Sara said to Alanna, "Then let's go together."

Annette looked down at the documents on the desk.

But her mind had already drifted away.

At noon, after Sara and the others left, Annette called Catherine.

Catherine was surprised to receive Annette's call.

"Annette, I'm so happy to hear from you."

Annette smiled and said, "Catherine, are you free at noon? I'd like to have lunch with you and ask you about something."

  "Sure. Where shall we meet?"

"Let's go to the restaurant where we ate last time. It's not far from both of us."

  "OK. See you later."

After hanging up the phone, Annette immediately set off.

Leonard wasn't around at lunch break, so she took a taxi to the restaurant.

She waited for less than five minutes before Catherine arrived.

Catherine hurriedly sat down and said, "Sorry. Am I late again?"

  "No. I just got here."

The two ordered. Catherine had some water and said, "Annette, didn't you say you wanted to ask me something?"

"Yes." Annette nodded. "I heard that the Fisher Group has been running low on cash and has started to discount cosmetics that were never discounted, right?"

Catherine nodded in worry. She said, "Yes. Many women in our company are stocking up."

"I heard before that the Norman Group has been targeting the Fisher group. Is the crisis the Fisher Group is facing related to the Norman Group?"

Catherine shook her head and said, "A lot of people are saying so, and it is true that the Fisher Group has been losing money for two months in a row and closed a branch at the end of last month. Also, Austin has been taking the team around for investment lately, but nothing has come of it. They say it's because of Alpha Connor. But it's all been said, so I don't know if it's true or not."

Annette nodded. Her expression was solemn.

Catherine said, "Annette, you are so close to Austin. If you are that curious, why don't you ask him?"

Annette shook her head and said, "He only gives me good news."

"You must be very worried about him."

Annette smiled and said, "I was just a little surprised to hear that the Fisher Group's cosmetics were on sale."

Annette thought, 'I don't give a damn about the Fisher Group.

No, wait. Maybe there's a part of me that wants the Fisher Group to go out of business.

After all, I want to see Lance, Leslie, and Jessica down and out badly.

If the day comes, I don't think I will be able to resist the urge to see them make a fool of themselves.

It's a pity that Austin is from the Black Thorn Pack as well.

I'm afraid that he is the one who has been having the hardest time with the crisis the Black Thorn Pack faces this time.'

Catherine sighed, "Everyone feels insecure. Over 200 workers have been laid off this month. We are all worried."

After work in the afternoon, Annette returned home early.

The Black Thorn Pack was already a mess, and on the contrary, Connor was very relaxed.

He rarely attended business events and didn't hang out late with others.

Every day, he would come back on time to have dinner with her.

Annette took a few bites, looked at him, and asked, "Connor, I want to ask you about something. About the Fisher Group, you are behind it, right?"

  "What about the Fisher Group?"

"Stop playing dumb with me," Annette said, rolling her eyes. "I've heard it all. The Fisher Group is short of cash and has to discount new products."

"Did someone from the Black Thorn Pack reach out to you?"

"No. My colleagues went to buy their face masks today."

Connor couldn't help but smile. He asked, "I did it. Why? Do you feel bad?"

Annette glared at him and said, "I feel bad for the Fisher Group? Come on, I'm not crazy. Why would I care about the Fisher Group?"

"I mean Austin, your dear brother. You care about him a lot, don't you?"

  Connor sounded gloomy.

Annette did not know why he was suddenly angry.

She thought for a moment and said cautiously, "I don't hate him."

Connor stared at her, visibly angry.

"Hate? I'm afraid you like him a lot."

"Why are you so weird?" Annette looked at him and almost burst into laughter out of anger. She could not help but say, "You're not jealous of him now, are you? He's my brother."

"What if he isn't your brother?"

Annette looked at him in confusion. What did that mean?

Connor said seriously, "Putting aside your history with the Black Thorn Pack, if it was just me and him, if he wasn't related to you, and we both pursued you, who would you choose? I can tell when you're lying, Annette. I want to hear the truth."
