His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 170

Chapter 170

At noon, Annette fell asleep on a recliner in the office.

When it was time for work, she was still not awake.

Sara pushed her gently and said, "Annette, wake up. You have slept so soundly at noon in the past few days."

Lying for a few more seconds, Annette sat up slowly and rubbed the space between her eyebrows.

"It might be because there has been nothing important recently, so I'm always sleepy." Annette tidied up the blanket and folded the recliner.

Annette yawned and sat down in front of the desk.

It was strange. She had just woken up, but why was she still so sleepy?

At around three o'clock, she and Sara went downstairs to the basketball court.

They saw a lot of students gathered at the entrance from afar.

  They looked at each other.

Sara said, "Why are there so many people over there today?"

Annette pulled Sara and said, "Let's go take a look."

As soon as they approached, a student shouted, "Annette is here."

Then, someone ran to Annette and Sara.

Annette was stunned. What was going on?

A man took the lead and asked her, "Ms. Hall, I am a reporter from the Daily News. I want to interview you with a few questions."

  A reporter?

"Sorry, I am just an ordinary person. I do not accept interviews from reporters." Annette's expression was calm.

Sara also said, "Sir, this is the school. It is improper for you to barge in and interview the teachers here without the approval of the school."

"We will just ask a few simple questions. Many students just said that Connor's true love is not Jessica from the Fisher family but Annette. May I ask if you are the person they are talking about?"

Annette had guessed that the reporters' questions would be related to Connor.

"I'm sorry. I've said that I won't accept interviews from reporters. I won't answer any of the questions. Please leave now."

Annette said righteously. However, the reporters around her had no intention of leaving.

They continued to ask questions about her and Connor.

Sara looked at Annette worriedly and said to the reporters, "If you continue to ask, I'll call security."

Behind the reporters, a student stirred up trouble and shouted, "Annette, why don't you dare to admit your relationship with Connor? Weren't you showing your love at school a few days ago?"

Annette frowned. She felt troubled as the students made a fuss.

For a moment, they were in a stalemate.

The students of the school basketball team squeezed into the crowd.

They surrounded Annette and Sara and turned to the reporters.

They were all tall and strong and completely blocked Annette and Sara.

The captain of the basketball team walked to Annette and smiled, "Annette, Marcus asked me to tell you that your rescuer is on the way. He asked you to hold on for a few more minutes."

"Who? Marcus? What can he do?"

The basketball team members surrounded Annette and Sara tightly. Sara whispered, "These students make me feel safe."

Annette smiled at her. She felt the same way.

A few minutes later, there was a commotion outside.

However, Annette's and Sara's visions were blocked, and they could not see anything.

  Sara wondered, "What happened?"

Annette shook her head. "I don't know."

Then, a reporter asked, "Connor, may I ask if your girlfriend is in this school?"

Annette frowned over the question, while Sara said in surprise, "Connor is here."

Annette pricked up her ears to listen to the reply.

  It was quiet outside.

Connor's cold voice sounded. "Does it have anything to do with you?"

The reporter was stunned. He asked, "Connor, I am a reporter. I have the obligation to answer the public's questions."

  "That's your business."

"But you need to answer me."

  Connor sneered. "Do I?"

"Connor, as a public figure, you..."

Connor's eyes turned cold. He said, "I am not a public figure. Whether I am willing to talk about my privacy is my business. It is my freedom if I don't want to talk about it. You are only a reporter. Do you want to order me?"

A burst of laughter could be heard from the surroundings.

The reporter looked embarrassed, yet he still did not give up. "Do you mean that your privacy is related to the school?"

  Connor took a step forward.

The reporter was a little regretful because Connor's aura scared him.

Connor reached out his hand. The reporter turned his head quickly to avoid it. Unexpectedly, Connor only turned the reporter's badge. He glanced at the staff behind him and ordered, "Call Hari. I will only give him an hour to make this newspaper office disappear from the media industry in Akron. Also, no company can recruit this reporter. Otherwise, whoever accepts him, I will destroy their company."

  "OK."

The reporter's face was livid. He struggled and said, "I just want to report the truth. I don't want to be your enemy."

"You even dare to pester me like this. No one knows if you will bully innocent people with your identity as a reporter. You are just a reporter and don't think so highly of yourself. You dare to question me only because my personal affairs will help you get more income. You are unlucky to bump into me. Today, I will deal with you as a way to get rid of the evil in the media industry."

As he spoke, Connor's gaze swept over the other reporters. "Who else wants to give it a try? Just try to provoke me. I warn you, if anyone dares to release any news about me or the employees and students in this school, I will make sure that you will never be able to turn over in the media industry."

The reporters looked at each other and left one by one.

The students of the basketball team surrounding Annette and Sara made their way. Connor walked toward Annette.

  "Are you alright?"

  Annette smiled, "I'm fine."

She looked up at Connor. It turned out that the helper Marcus mentioned was Connor.

At first, when she knew that Connor was there, she was a little worried.

But now, she admired him very much. The reporters asked so much, but Connor didn't answer a single question and even drove them away.

On Saturday morning, Marcus invited Connor and Annette to his bar, which had just finished renovation.

Annette could tell that Marcus had put a lot of effort into the bar.

She walked around and then stood by the counter. She said to Marcus, "The style of decoration of bars is mostly wild. Aren't you afraid that no one will come here with such artistic decoration?"

"Annette, I didn't expect you to be so knowledgeable."

Connor said, "Annette once worked part-time in a bar."

"I didn't know it. You were bold."

"She said she was homosexual when she worked in the bar." Connor sat down in front of the counter.

  Marcus laughed.
