His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 167

Chapter 167

After the driver started the car again, Connor called Annette.

He had planned to go to the shopping mall to pick her up, but she said that she was in the apartment right now.

It turned out that Austin insisted on sending her back after they had a meal.

Connor went to the apartment to pick up Annette.

After entering the room, he found that Annette was washing the sheets that they had slept on for two nights.

Seeing that Annette was in a good mood, Connor said unhappily, "You seem happy to meet Austin."

After a while, Annette realized that Connor was jealous. She smiled, "My good mood has nothing to do with Austin."

"Who does it have to do with?"

"Working here makes me happy," Annette said as she patted the washing machine. "Don't you feel a sense of accomplishment by washing your dirty laundry?"

Looking at her mischievous look, Connor put on a faint smile. "Your happiness is really different from others'."

Annette smiled, "Why are you back so early?"

"Can't I spend more time with you on the weekend?"

Annette said in surprise, "But your friend only comes back once in a long time."

"It doesn't matter. We will play golf together tomorrow morning."

Harrison stayed in Akron for only three days before he was called away urgently, and Connor's life was back on track.

He worked during the day and accompanied Annette at night. To him, it was the most satisfying life.

Wednesday afternoon, just as Annette returned to the office, she heard Alanna gossiping.

Alanna said, "So, sometimes, rich men are unreliable."

As Annette closed the door, Alanna heard the sound. She put down the phone quickly and stopped the topic.

She stood up and said, "I remembered that I still have something to do in the classroom."

Eden said, "Alanna, let's go together. I have to go and deliver a notice."

They left the office together. Annette sat in front of her desk and looked at Sara in confusion. "Sara, I feel that Alanna is a little strange."

  "Is she?"

"Yes. She avoided my eyes just now."

Sara bit her lip and hesitated for a moment. She said, "Annette, there's something you might not know yet. I think you can take a look at Akron Daily."

Annette took out her phone and turned it on.

Today's headlines popped up on the screen.

"The president of the Norman Group will be holding an engagement party with the daughter of the Fisher Group in a few days."

The news showed that because of Randolph's mediation, the Norman family and the Fisher family forgave and forgot. After the marriage alliance, they would work together and strive for the leadership of the business industry in Akron. Conner and Jessica's marriage was the most successful business marriage alliance in recent years.

After reading the news, Annette felt a chill in her heart.

She believed that it had nothing to do with Connor.

However, the Black Thorn Pack involved Randolph, and it would be difficult for Connor to deal with the news.

Denying it was no different from disgracing Randolph.

Annette was silent for a long time as she read the news.

Sara said worriedly, "Annette, are you alright?"

Annette came back to her senses and turned to Sara. She shook her head and smiled, "I'm fine."

  "But the news..."

Annette pursed her lips and then said, "The news is fake. It is just randomly written by the media. Connor and no one from the Black Thorn Pack stood out to admit it."

"It's great that you can think this way. I also think there might be a misunderstanding. In my opinion, Alpha Connor is a responsible man."

Annette smiled at Sara, "I trust him."

Sara stood up and said, "That's good. I'll go to the classroom. Don't think too much about it."

Sara got up and left. When she passed by the door of another office, she heard people talking about Annette being cheated on.

She leaned against the door and knocked on it.

The teachers inside turned around. Sara said coldly, "It's better to close the door when you speak ill of others. The news may be fake, and your tone should be that certain. You haven't forgotten the student who gossiped about Annette in front of her last week, have you?"

Sara closed the office door and left.

People in the office looked at each other, and no one said anything.

They knew that Sara and Annette were close. If the news was fake, Sara would tell Annette that they had spoken ill of her.

Annette stayed in the office for less than fifteen minutes before Connor called her.

She picked up the phone quickly.

"Annette, why did you pick up the phone so quickly today? Are you waiting for my call?" Connor smiled proudly.

  "No," Annette said.

"You sound unhappy. Did you see the news?"

"It's hard for me not to see it." Annette joked, "I wonder why Jessica's fiancé called me."

"I hate that title." Connor wore a smile and said, "And you sound jealous."

Annette told him her feeling, "I know it has nothing to do with you, but Connor, I feel wronged. Last week, you acted somewhat close to me at school. However, this week, it is said that you are going to get engaged to Jessica. I don't care what others gossip about me, but I am sad."

Connor was also a little happy in his heart other than feeling distressed for Annette.

For him, it was a sign that she began to rely on him.

Connor said seriously, "I've sent someone to deal with the news. Don't worry. I know you're not in a good mood now. I promise I won't let you feel wronged."

Annette frowned and asked, "How do you solve it? The news has even involved Randolph. If you stand out and clarify it, wouldn't it be disgraceful for Randolph?"

"Don't worry. The news was released without confirmation. Since it is false, the media needs to take responsibility."

"What if someone verifies it? I'm afraid Randolph will also be implicated."

"You don't have to worry about Alpha Randolph. I can solve anything in the world. Trust me."

Annette was silent for a moment. Then, she nodded and said, "I see."

"Also, you don't have to worry about the gossip in school. Just leave it to me."

"I am fine. Don't care about it. Actually, I am used to being gossiped about. Just let them talk."

Connor didn't say anything else. He only said, "Give me half an hour."

He hung up the phone after he finished his words.

Annette stared at the phone in confusion. Half an hour?

What could Connor do in half an hour?

Eden came back when it was almost half past eleven.

He sat in front of his desk. Soon, Sara and Alanna rushed back together.

Alanna pushed open the door and said breathlessly, "Oh my goodness! Annette, big news!"

Annette turned to look at her and asked, "Alanna, what happened?"

Sara said, "Alanna and I just saw Alpha Connor downstairs."

Annette was stunned. 'Connor is here?

Why did he come to school at this time?'
