Chapter 137
Chapter 137
Annette felt that Zachary had made the right choice this time.
So she did not say anything and just listened to him complaining.
In the end, he said helplessly, "I also know that she might not give up so easily. After all, she has always said that she has gone through the most difficult times with me. How can such a person easily make her efforts in vain?"
"Then what are you going to do if she continues to pester you?" Annette asked.
Zachary looked at her and smiled, "Since I have made such a decision, I have to pay the price. The worst outcome is I can't work here anymore. Well, I don't care how long she will keep pestering me."
Annette frowned and said, "But you just came back."
"I gave up a good job abroad for her. Then I'll give up my job here just to stay away from her. It's nothing. I won't mind if I have to start everything from scratch."
Annette did not try to persuade him. After all, Zachary was a grown man. He had already thought it through. She had no right to interfere.
They chatted for a long time. Just as she was about to leave, her cell phone rang.
Seeing that it was a call from Connor, she picked it up quickly.
Connor asked, "Who are you having lunch with?"
"Zachary. I'm at the hotel where Zachary works."
"I haven't eaten yet," Connor said unhappily.
"Is that so? I'm full. I ate so much."
"Annette."
Annette smiled calmly, "Then why didn't you grab something to eat? Did someone forbid you to have lunch? Who was so bold? Should I send Marcus to help you deal with him?"
"Don't talk nonsense. I'm hungry. Come and bring me some food. I'll wait for you at the company. If you don't come, you will be doomed tonight."
Before Annette could say anything, Connor had already hung up.
Annette was speechless. 'How unreasonable.'
She stuffed her phone into her bag.
Zachary asked, "It's Connor, right? It seems that you are getting along very well. I heard that he is a cold-hearted person, but the rumors seem to be wrong."
Annette felt guilty. If he saw how Connor rejected other girls, Zachary would probably know that the rumors were true.
However, she felt lucky. At the very least, the Connor she knew, was a nice and easy-going person.
"People have different sides. Perhaps to others, he is very difficult to get along with, but to me, he just happens to be my Mr. Right."
Zachary nodded at her and said, "Annette, you have grown up."
She smiled and beckoned the waiter over. She took the menu and ordered a casserole for Connor.
"Takeout. By the way, add more chili. As much as possible."
When the waiter left, Annette thought to herself, 'Connor, how dare you threaten me?'
"Zachary, when my order is ready, I have to go first. I have made an appointment with Connor."
"Okay, I'll walk you downstairs later."
"OK. By the way, I will always support you unconditionally about your relationship with Jennifer."
Zachary smiled and nodded, "Thanks."
It was already two o'clock when Annette arrived at the Norman Group.
She struggled a little before entering the building. After all, she had been an intern here before. There must be many people who knew her.
How could she not be recognized when she got in?
Annette paced back and forth next to the lawn.
Today was the weekend. Most of the employees did not go to work, but there must be someone at the reception desk.
She could not say that she was looking for Connor at the reception.
Connor wouldn't come down as he always liked to tease her.
After walking for ten minutes at the door, someone suddenly called her name from the roadside.
Annette turned around and saw Curtis and two other men coming out of a taxi.
Curtis trotted to her and said excitedly, "Is it really you?"
"Curtis, it's been a long time."
"Yes, I haven't seen you for so long. After you left the company, I kept asking Amanda where you went, but she just wouldn't tell me. Your phone was always busy. After you left the company, you didn't intend to contact anyone in the company, right? Did you blacklist us?"
He was blacklisted because when Annette left the company, he kept calling her. She was reluctant to answer his calls.
Annette smiled awkwardly. Who would have thought that she would meet Curtis here? She was unlucky.
"My boyfriend always asked me who was calling me when he saw your number. I said that you were my colleague. He was jealous and blacklisted you. Sorry about that."
Curtis smiled indifferently, "Your boyfriend is too possessive. He doesn't allow you to make friends, right?"
"I think this is good. We respect each other. Isn't today the weekend? Why are you here?"
"We have been working overtime for two weeks. These two weeks, we are preparing a new product program. Why are you here at this time?"
"Well, I'm here to see Amanda."
Annette chuckled, "I was wondering if I should go up or not. I didn't want to disturb her."
"Of course not. Just come with me." Curtis invited her upstairs.
When they arrived at the Training Department, Annette came to the door of Amanda's office and knocked.
"Come in, please."
Annette pushed open the door and entered. When she saw Amanda, Amanda was also shocked. "Annette? Why are you here at this time?"
She smiled awkwardly, "Mr. Norman asked me to bring him lunch. Then I met Curtis downstairs. I have to say that I came to see you."
"I see," Amanda said. "Go. I'll back you up."
Amanda led her out of the office and they got into the elevator. Amanda said, "I want to say thank you. Those who don't work well in the Training Department have all left because of you. The working environment is great now."
Annette asked, "Melvin just left not long ago, right?"
"He didn't leave for long, but he was miserable when he left. He almost went to jail. They said that he bailed himself out with a huge amount of money."
Amanda walked her to the floor and went down.
