Chapter 128
Chapter 128
The next day, Annette went to school. A new week began. Soon, the week of work was coming to an end.
On Friday noon, she was going to have lunch in the cafeteria, only to find that few people were there today.
Annette asked Sara in confusion, "Why are there so few people today?"
Sara whispered, "They have all gone to make preparations."
Annette thought for a moment and said, "Don't tell me they are preparing for Alpha Connor's lecture in the afternoon."
"What do you think?" Sara laughed. "This afternoon, it's gonna be more lively than the university's anniversary."
Annette shook her head and smiled, "I can imagine the scene in the multimedia classroom this afternoon."
Sara asked, "Do you want to go and check it out?"
"Yes. Why not? I'm quite curious about Alpha Connor's lecture."
Sara shrugged. "Me too. Then, we'll check it out later."
Annette returned to the office and took a nap. When she woke up, she found that Alanna and Melissa had not been back.
She was a little confused and asked, "Why are Alanna and Melissa not back yet?"
Sara said, "Just now, Alanna texted me. Too many students are in the classroom now, and they can't squeeze in."
"Did I remember the time wrongly? Isn't Alpha Connor's class starting at three in the afternoon?"
"You are right. But a lot of students are going to line up in advance." Sara checked the time and said, "It's two o'clock. Should we go now?"
"It's so early. We have to wait there for another hour if we go now. Let's go a bit later."
Fifty minutes later, Annette held Sara's arm and went to the classroom building.
They stood outside the crowd and looked inside. They found that the classroom was full of people.
Annette exclaimed, "Sara, you are right. It is even more lively than the university's anniversary. I think we should go."
"I agree." Sara kept nodding her head.
As soon as they left, Connor appeared with a dozen bodyguards.
At 4:05 pm, Annette's phone rang.
She took it out and found that it was a call from Connor.
She walked out of the office and picked it up.
"Where are you now?"
"Make a guess."
Connor was a little unhappy. "Why didn't you come? Didn't I tell you to come to my lecture?"
"I'm at your lecture."
"Nonsense."
Annette shrugged. She did not believe that Connor could spot her in the crowd.
"I'm telling the truth. I'm really in the classroom. It's so crowded and hard to breathe."
"Annette, why do you lie to me?"
Annette said guiltily, "You can't see me, but it doesn't mean I'm not in the class."
"Oh? Since you are in the classroom, why didn't you answer when I called your name?"
Annette was surprised.
If so, didn't he tell everyone that they knew each other?
She said immediately, "Why did you call my name? Have you lost your mind?"
"Annette, do you want me to punish you?"
Annette realized that Connor was lying to her. She said, "I was there with a teacher from my office. There were too many people. We couldn't get in at all."
"Why didn't you come earlier like others?"
"I have a lot of work to deal with."
"Well, I will forgive you this time. I will fulfill your wish next time. My driver is waiting for you at the school gate. We'll go back together later."
"But I'll get off work after a while."
"It doesn't matter. I have to go to Darren after the lecture." Connor hung up the phone after that.
Just as Annette was about to return to her office, Alanna, dressed in new clothes, came back.
She was limping, and Annette hurried forward to help her. "Alanna, what happened to you?"
"Don't mention it. I stood for more than four hours in my high heels. I can't feel my legs anymore."
"What? Didn't you get a seat?"
"There were no seats available! I was standing in the corner of the classroom. Oh my goodness! Those children were crazy about him."
As they were talking, Melissa also returned, looking exhausted.
Annette asked, "Melissa, are you alright? You look tired."
Melissa rubbed her nose and said, "The girl sitting next to me wore strong perfume. It was suffocating."
Alanna was speechless. "Well, be grateful. At least, you still have a seat. I'm going to be crippled."
Annette helped Alanna, and the three of them walked into the office.
Sara was having a coffee. She smiled when she saw that Alanna and Melissa had finally returned. "What's going on? You went there in high spirits, but you seem to be injured now."
Melissa waved her hand and returned to her seat. "Just forget it."
Annette took Alanna's and Melissa's cups and got a cup of water for each of them.
She returned to her seat and sat down. "Sara and I went there too, but we couldn't squeeze in. How about it? Did you learn anything from Alpha Connor's lecture? How was his lecture?"
Alanna praised, "Alpha Connor's lecture is better than ten lectures of other professors put together. I stood at the back and looked around. The boys were very focused, while most of the girls were not paying attention to the lecture. They all dressed up to their best."
Melissa glanced at Alanna's clothes and said, "You are the same. Don't talk about others."
Alanna said gloomily, "Stop laughing at me. What's the difference between you and me?"
Annette and Sara looked at each other and smiled secretly.
Melissa said awkwardly, "We have done our best after all. Today, I've just witnessed the most amazing trick of seducing men."
Alanna nodded repeatedly. "That's right. What does that girl major in?"
"I'm not sure," Melissa said.
