His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 108

Chapter 108

Annette did not know that Leonard had long reported to Connor about her trip to the apartment building.

Ever since Annette revealed her plans to move back, Connor had arranged for people to pretend to be paparazzi to wait outside the apartment building.

Annette knew that she could not return to the apartment recently, so she planned to sublet the place.

She called the landlord, yet the landlord told her that the apartment had been sold to someone else.

Annette asked for the new landlord's phone number. She hesitated for a moment and then dialed it.

As soon as she got through, a male voice sounded on the other side of the line. "Hello, Ms. Hall."

Annette was stunned for a moment. How did the new landlord know her name?

Also, his voice sounded a little familiar.

  "You sound familiar..."

"This is Hari, Mr. Norman's secretary."

Hari felt a little strange. Annette called him, but she did not know who he was.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I dialed the wrong number."

  "It's OK."

Annette hung up the phone and understood everything.

Connor changed locks and furniture openly at that time.

It turned out that he had bought the apartment.

  Leonard sent Annette home.

As he saw Annette, Connor put on a smile and said, "You are a little late today. Did you work overtime again?"

Annette looked at him. Her expression was a little strange.

Sensing her strange gaze, Connor asked, "What's wrong?"

"I was thinking about how to tell you that I don't intend to rent your apartment."

"This place is free for you forever. You can stay here as long as you want and don't have to pay the rent."

Annette explained, "I am referring to the apartment I rented. That is your property now."

Noticing that she was a little unhappy, Connor waved his hand at Dwayne.

  Dwayne left with other servants.

Connor asked, "How did you know about it?"

"I called the landlord to sublet the place. So, I knew."

  "Are you angry?"

  "What do you think?"

"Does it matter who your landlord is?"

Annette sighed. "Connor, don't you think that this is childish?"

"Back then, to find you, I got someone to smash the door. Since that was the case, I had to take responsibility. Moreover, you like the apartment very much, so I bought it. Did I do anything wrong?"

Annette was in a bad mood tonight.

When she discussed the issue with Connor, she found that their values were different. She felt that the more they discussed, the worse it would be.

She took a deep breath and said, "Forget it. I won't talk about it anymore."

She walked past Connor and was going upstairs.

Connor followed her upstairs. He entered her room and asked, "What are you angry about?"

  "I'm not angry."

"Annette, we've stayed together for such a long time, so when you are mad, I can tell. It's fine. I just want to know what you are angry about."

Annette said calmly, "I am not angry. I just found that our quarrel was meaningless. We quarreled because we didn't share the same value. I studied the pros and cons and living conditions of every residential area to save two hundred dollars of rent every month. But you could buy something that others couldn't afford in their entire lives just to pursue a woman. We live on the same planet, yet we are in completely different worlds. How did I break into a world that does not belong to me? I'm just mocking myself."

"Who pissed you off today?" Connor frowned.

Thinking of Kyle, Annette tried to calm down.

Kyle pissed her off, and it had nothing to do with Connor. She should not have lost her temper at Connor.

She pinched the space between her eyebrows. "No one. I was a little stressed as I found that I had lived in the dark. Now, I have thought it through."

"Really? It's just another excuse to push me away. You have more reasons to refuse me now."

Annette glanced at Connor and said, "Get out. I need to change my clothes."

Connor found that Annette had calmed down. He said, "Come downstairs quickly. I have a surprise for you."

After Annette changed her clothes, she stood in front of the mirror and patted her cheek. She reminded herself not to vent her anger on innocent people.

She went downstairs. Connor sat at the dining table and waited for her. Only the two of them were in the dining room.

Two candles were placed on the dining table.

Annette walked over and sat down. Connor lit the candles and turned off the lights in the dining room.

Annette looked at him. "A candlelight dinner?"

  "Isn't it romantic?"

Annette asked, "Is it the surprise you mentioned?"

  "Don't you think so?"

Annette lowered her eyes and smiled. She had never thought that Connor would be so scrupulous.

She said, "Connor, I'm sorry. I shouldn't lose my temper with you just now because of my bad mood."

Connor looked at her. "Why were you in a bad mood?"

Annette shook her head. "I don't want to mention it. Don't ask more. I won't get angry at you for no reason in the future."

Connor said, "I don't mind you throwing a tantrum at me."

Connor picked up the wine glass and shook it gently. "Just now, you said that you were not in the same world as me. But you are wrong. One's values can be changed when he faces different people. I am the high and mighty Alpha in others' eyes, yet I can also lower myself to accompany you. Annette, if you didn't meet the right person, no matter how good he was, he would be a scumbag to you. But if you met the right one, no matter how bad he was, he would change himself for you. Although my reputation is not good, I always stay true to you."

Annette nodded and said, "I know."

"I told you many times. You don't need to hurry to accept me, but please don't push me away. You always want to move out. Do you think that I will give up on pursuing you after you leave? I have always been persistent. If I decide to be with you, you can never get rid of me."

"What if I still don't accept you half a year later?" Annette asked.

"Since it's a bet, I have to admit defeat."

Annette nodded. "Alright. Let's wait for half a year. If you lose, don't deny it."

  "Of course."
