Chapter 820 - 777: Betrayal of the Harbinger of Doomsday_2

In an instant, the deep sea demon flesh came to an abrupt halt, standing silently in the boundless ocean, like a small island in the night.

But this "island" kept trembling, causing the surrounding seawater to surge violently, as if something uncontrollable was about to erupt!

"Quickly leave this place!" Huang Yi ordered the crew, then immediately flew off the ship.

The Cloud Sail Battleship quickly mobilized its full power, speeding away from the area, disappearing into the ocean’s far edge under the moonlight.

Only then did Huang Yi finally take out the Book of Heroes!

At that moment, he clearly felt the book was entirely different. In the past, it always felt illusory, not truly his, as if it were temporarily lent to him by someone else. But now, the book felt firmly in his grasp—it was his own.

He immediately summoned Heroes’ Prison, hurried inside, and arrived at the Stone Chamber where the keys were kept.

Huang Yi looked up at the countless keys spread across the sky, preparing to fly up and grab them.

"Ding! Ding! Ding!" At that very moment, tens of thousands of flying keys suddenly fell from the sky, like a downpour of keys, scattering densely across the ground with crisp metallic sounds. They then lay still, waiting for Huang Yi to pick them up at will.

The keys in the sky suddenly became sparse, leaving only a few thousand still rapidly flying around.

After gaining a trace of divine power, the Heroes’ Prison indeed revealed some changes, although this difference would only last for an hour.

Huang Yi searched the ground thoroughly and discovered that among the keys imprisoning criminals, the highest level was Level 174, which corresponded to the Advanced Holy Domain Rank. As he used to be of Advanced Holy Domain Rank before his reincarnation, these keys likely fell due to this connection.

The Harbinger of Doomsday’s true body was Level 172, which was precisely Advanced Holy Domain Rank. Its key had to be among these tens of thousands scattered keys.

Huang Yi remembered clearly that the Harbinger of Doomsday’s true body’s cell number was 2780. He immediately began searching through the keys for that specific one.

He only had one hour—three thousand seconds—time was incredibly tight. His eyes practically turned into scanners, rapidly combing through the sea of keys.

Finally, in the 48th minute, Huang Yi found the key to the Harbinger of Doomsday’s true body’s cell!

He gripped the key, took a deep breath, and walked through the prison’s corridors to the cell holding the Harbinger of Doomsday’s true body.

Inside, the Harbinger of Doomsday’s true body was illuminated by intense flames, lighting up the entire cell.

"Harbinger of Doomsday, you are free to go!" Huang Yi called out, opening the cell door.

Then, he instantly teleported out of Heroes’ Prison, returning to the surface of the deep sea demon flesh.

The Harbinger of Doomsday, seeing the open cell door, trembled with excitement and rushed out at lightning speed.

As soon as it exited the cell, it was instantly teleported to the ocean outside.

"I’m finally free!" In the ocean, the Harbinger of Doomsday exclaimed excitedly, blowing against the cool sea breeze.

It raised its head, gazing at the brilliant starry sky as if relishing this beautiful world, releasing the pent-up repression of countless years at this very moment!

"Congratulations on gaining your freedom!" Huang Yi, standing not far ahead of the Harbinger of Doomsday, spoke warmly.

This was the first time he had released a criminal at full strength without any contractual restraints. The Harbinger of Doomsday’s true body was now a completely free individual.

Meanwhile, on the distant Hero’s Continent.

Huang Yi’s incarnation discerned the excitement on the divine embryo of the Harbinger of Doomsday, clearly sensing its true body had gained freedom!

The Harbinger of Doomsday stared intently at Huang Yi with flame-dancing eyes, declaring, "God of Slaughter, thanks for releasing my true body. As a token of appreciation, I’ve decided to kill you." Without hesitation, its fire-enveloped hands struck Huang Yi, reducing him to nearly zero health, activating his death immunity to survive.

Huang Yi smiled faintly, choosing not to use the Last Stand to save himself. Instead, he responded politely, "You’re welcome."

The next moment, his incarnation was killed instantly.

The Harbinger of Doomsday didn’t fare well either. Attacking the King of Hero Empire had violated the Guardian Contract, activating the Power of the Contract within its body, which promptly killed it on the spot.

The power of the contract is absolute!

——

The initial idea of this conspiracy plot was to create exciting content, but I didn’t execute it well. My creative state isn’t sufficient, and these Chapters were forced out, lacking depth in atmosphere, sufficient tension, and pacing adjustments.

The conspiracy led by Desire Arises from the Heart was hastily devised, hastily executed, hastily resolved, and hastily ended—everything felt like an inevitable conclusion, narrating an already determined fact.

If you don’t detail and render a conspiracy effectively, it ends up feeling utterly foolish, with glaring loopholes, without enough word count and elaboration to explain those flaws.

But right now, my writing state is quite low. I don’t have confidence in fleshing out details effectively. Poorly written details can lead to even worse outcomes: excessive word count without improved narrative quality, commonly known as filler.

Explanatory content may patch up the different aspects of the conspiracy, but it would also seem like rambling without advancing the storyline.

Additionally, some readers in the reviews section mentioned that recent developments felt overly jumpy. This is indeed a problem of uneven narrative pacing.

The earlier storyline of the God of Slaughter searching for Dao Feng and the Thunder God’s execution were written together. These events happened close in time, without any real chronological jump. However, narrating them together made the story seem disconnected.

Last night, while sleepy, I mulled this over. If the protagonist’s search for Dao Feng had been completed, then this stretch restructured, followed by the Thunder God’s execution, it would have felt much smoother. Splitting the events slightly and adding a buffering segment in between could’ve prevented the impression of narrative jumps. But now that everything’s already written, there’s no way to fix it.

I didn’t consider these issues properly while writing. Looking back now, I see so many regrets—I sincerely apologize.
