Chapter 805 - 765 Sword Scar
Chapter 805 - 765 Sword Scar
Huang Yi, riding on Little Dragon, pulled back some distance to avoid any possible repercussions.
Finally, the clone flew to the forefront of the vortex and plunged directly in.
"Crack!" Instantly, the clone was torn apart by the immense force of the vortex, reduced to a shower of blood that dispersed entirely into the heavens and earth.
His clone died utterly without resistance, as if the vortex were a grinding mill—anyone entering it would be ground to pieces!
Huang Yi stared at the vortex from afar, fear creeping into his heart. Helplessly, he abandoned the thought of venturing inside.
However, he wasn’t entirely without hope. In about two months, his Reincarnation cycle would end, and the colossal amount of accumulated Experience Points from the past half year would pour in, enough to elevate him to the Heavenly Domain level, possibly even Intermediate Heavenly Domain. By then, perhaps he could absorb the Mysterious Serpent’s Blood and evolve into the Serpent’s Incarnation.
Once he evolved into the Mysterious Python, he’d likely be able to delve into the vortex and uncover its mysteries.
For now, Huang Yi shifted his focus away from the black vortex and toward the Epic Item and the Divine Artifact Fragment he’d sensed nearby.
He landed on the ground and began digging at the pinpointed location with effort. Before long, he unearthed both items.
One of them was the Divine Artifact Fragment detected by the Tidal Calling Siren Princess. It was a crystalline block, resembling a plate, utterly transparent and dazzling, far larger and brighter than the previous fragment Huang Yi had found. He stored it within his storage ring.
The other item was a fist-sized bead, emanating an intensely familiar azure glow—stunningly beautiful.
Huang Yi had seen this bead once before—it was an Epic Sphere! He had acquired one upon breaking through the 160th floor of the Tower of Pantheons.
The Epic Sphere could endow a piece of Legendary Equipment with the potential to upgrade to Epic Tier, provided certain conditions were met.
Without hesitating, Huang Yi fused the Epic Sphere into his headgear, Godslayer’s Star.
"[System Prompt]: [Godslayer’s Star] has absorbed the Epic Sphere and gained the potential to upgrade to Epic Equipment. After meeting specific conditions, the upgrade can be performed. The first condition is: receive the blessing and empowerment of a Heavenly Domain warrior."
This condition might be challenging for others, but Huang Yi had no shortage of Heavenly Domain Guardians. Even the Tidal Calling Siren Princess aboard his ship qualified perfectly.
"Let’s go, Little Dragon, we’ll return later!" Huang Yi patted Little Dragon’s head, gazed at the giant eye, marked its coordinates, and planned to revisit once he evolved into the Mysterious Python.
Little Dragon immediately carried Huang Yi away, flying further and further from the vortex. Even as they left, the eye remained open, its crimson veins pulsating as if watching their retreat.
Back aboard the Cloud Sail Battleship, Huang Yi had the Tidal Calling Siren Princess bless his Godslayer’s Star headgear, fulfilling the first upgrade condition.
Soon enough, the second condition was revealed—to absorb three Holy Crystal Stones. This challenge was likewise easily addressed: Huang Yi took out three Holy Crystal Stones and let Godslayer’s Star absorb them.
Now only the final condition remained for the Epic Sphere—to absorb the blood essence of a Heavenly Domain warrior.
The previous Epic Sphere he obtained merely required the blood essence of a Level 180 top-tier Holy Domain expert. This time, the difficulty had jumped dramatically.
Currently, Huang Yi couldn’t meet this condition. He could only hope to encounter a Heavenly Domain Sea Beast on his journey and manage to slay it.
...
That night, Huang Yi’s incarnation finally arrived at Philipsburg on the Wild Horse Plains. His Eye of Supervision confirmed that Dao Feng was here.
Huang Yi gazed at a hill on the grassland ahead, atop which stood an ancient castle. The castle’s pointed structures loomed in the darkness like blades. Its walls were heavily dilapidated, and a few gnarled, dead trees protruded from within the castle, their branches occupied by two or three crows coldly staring at Huang Yi.
Pale moonlight bathed the castle, and ghostly winds howled like the wails of wandering spirits. The entire castle exuded a chillingly eerie atmosphere.
Yet Huang Yi’s Treasure-Sniffing Ability revealed four Epic Equipment and eight Legendary Equipment inside the castle—all carried by one individual.
That individual was unmistakably Dao Feng!
Judging by the quality alone, Dao Feng had already surpassed Huang Yi.
Players could equip seven pieces of armor, four pieces of jewelry, and one weapon—making for a total of twelve pieces of equipment. This meant Dao Feng’s entire gear was already Legendary and Epic tier!
Currently, Huang Yi possessed three Epic items: Bloodstained War Halberd, Godslayer’s Star, and Sand Thief King’s Dream.
Additionally, his Thunder Guard Bracers and the newly fused Godslayer’s Star were Semi-Epic, ready to upgrade anytime.
He also had four Legendary items: Harbinger of Doomsday’s Footprints, Dragon General Armor, Lone Sail Cloak, and Arnoshwa’s Golden Belt.
His three pieces of jewelry were Level-100 orange-tier Ancestral Set items, offering minimal Attribute Bonuses but featuring level-enhancing attached skills. After weighing his options repeatedly, he still wasn’t planning to replace them yet.
The level rankings showed Dao Feng at Level 150, newly attained Advanced Holy Domain Rank—still dozens of levels lower than figures like the Pope and Miyamoto Musashi, those super-first-class experts. But in terms of equipment, Dao Feng had unequivocally outstripped them.
Following his sensed path, Huang Yi entered the ancient castle.
The moment he stepped in, the eerie vibe intensified. The chilling wind seemed colder, and his footsteps sounded unusually loud in the nighttime air. Several crows perched on dead branches suddenly fluttered away.
Huang Yi walked deep into the castle, halting before a marble structure. The building was vast and solemn, but clearly weathered by time—showing stark rain erosion marks and mottled walls.
The wooden door was ajar, and Huang Yi sensed Dao Feng’s presence on the building’s 3rd stage.
Moments later, he strode forward, pushed open the wooden door, and stepped inside.
The interior was desolate, save for a spiraling staircase. A faint candlelight flickered downward from above. Huang Yi ascended step by step, the sound of his footsteps sharp in the still darkness.
Soon, he reached the 3rd stage, and his gaze fell upon a striking scene.
Brightly colored oil paintings adorned the walls, luxurious furniture lined the room, and silver candle stands engraved with intricate designs stood atop them. Candles flickered softly, casting a mysterious glow.
At the center of the room stood a massive rectangular dining table, illuminated by candlelight. A lone figure sat there, back turned toward Huang Yi, seemingly indulging in dinner. Strangely, an identical meal—complete with wine and meat—was set across from them.
Two meals were prepared!
"Godslayer, long time no see. Come, join me for dinner! I’ve specially prepared this for you," said the figure, voice warm and familiar, undoubtedly Dao Feng’s!
Though Huang Yi had arrived stealthily without notifying Dao Feng, Dao Feng somehow anticipated Huang Yi’s visit tonight!
Without hesitation, Huang Yi took the opposite seat and casually began enjoying the sumptuous dinner.
"Why live in a place like this?" Huang Yi asked, cutting into a juicy steak, eyes on Dao Feng as he chewed.
Despite the time apart, Dao Feng appeared unchanged—sharp features, strikingly handsome, lit by the candlelight, his gaze blending a youth’s fierceness with a man’s wisdom.
Clad in his iconic golden armor, Dao Feng kept his two golden battle blades close even while dining. Though their hilts were battered—a nod to Dao Feng’s famed Broken Sword Hilt—they now formed two complete weapons.
Dao Feng lifted his wine glass, sipping lightly before replying, "Do you find this place eerie and unsettling?"
Huang Yi nodded, continuing his meal.
"This was once home to the former Sword Emperor successor, Philips. He was a vampire, hence the spooky aura this castle carries," Dao Feng said, placing his wine glass down.
"Then why stay here?" asked Huang Yi, sipping his wine.
"I’m here studying the Sword Emperor’s sword technique," Dao Feng responded, pulling out five sheepskin scrolls and placing them on the table.
The scrolls were ancient, edges worn, possibly centuries or millennia old. Each bore intricate, ferocious markings that resembled chaotic strokes—unique yet fierce, like etched sword techniques.
"I’ve acquired the Sword Emperor’s weapons but not his techniques. The Sword Emperor once engraved traces of his sword art onto a single sheepskin scroll. One of these five scrolls has those traces; the rest are decoys. I have just one chance to pick the correct scroll—choosing wrongly may forever deprive me of his legacy," Dao Feng explained, his cutting gaze fixed on the scrolls.
"And this castle ties into your quest how?" Huang Yi asked, inspecting the scrolls as he spoke.
The scrolls’ engravings were unique yet eerily similar, as if drawn by the same hand. Huang Yi couldn’t discern which held the genuine sword technique traces.
Dao Feng glanced around them, saying, "The castle’s master, Philips, succeeded in inheriting the Sword Emperor’s technique two millennia ago—my predecessor. I’m searching for traces left during his training sessions. Whether walls, tables, pillars, floors—they might bear his sword scars. By comparing these marks to the scrolls, I might uncover useful clues."
