Heroes' Prison

Chapter 771 - 735: Multiple Countries Withdraw

Chapter 771 - 735: Multiple Countries Withdraw

The global audience suddenly saw an enormous, sinister dragon head standing tall on the city wall. Its pitch-black Dragon’s Mouth exuded a mysterious aura.

Huang Yi quickly rushed into the Dragon’s Mouth, disappearing from everyone’s sight, leaving behind endless speculation.

His summoning scenes from Heroes’ Prison had been made public before, and everyone knew he would surely bring out a powerful NPC after entering!

The players of Xuanyuan City were filled with hope upon seeing this; meanwhile, the invaders, fierce and grim-faced, were filled with tension!

"The God of Slaughter is about to summon another insanely powerful NPC. Should we retreat first?" Miyamoto Musashi, who had just withdrawn from the battlefield, glanced back at the dragon head Huang Yi had summoned and turned to consult T.N.T.’s opinion. Although he feigned nonchalance about Huang Yi on the surface, deep inside, he harbored immense fear.

T.N.T shook his head and said, "If we retreat now, then the tremendous costs we’ve invested to summon War Spirits will go to waste. The God of Slaughter can’t possibly summon NPCs indefinitely; there must be a limit. We just need to hold on!"

At the same time, in the other three directions of Xuanyuan City, the Heavenly Domain Guardians teleported over from Dragon City were also engaged in combat.

On the side of the invaders, aside from Dante, who had been killed, all the super-first-class masters summoned one Heavenly Domain-level War Spirit each. The invading army now had a total of seven Celestial Realm experts, outnumbering Xuanyuan City’s forces and temporarily regaining the earlier momentum they had lost.

However, as news spread that Huang Yi was going to summon even more powerful NPCs, some commanders in the invading legions started to harbor doubts.

A great distance from Xuanyuan City’s South City Gate, amidst the sea of people, two female players stood side by side, gazing far into the distance at the dragon head atop the city gate. Both radiated an aura of strong, commanding women, standing tall and untouchable. Behind them were two massive armies, resembling two female generals leading their troops.

These two figures were none other than Caroline, the leader of the Spanish Legion, and Arthur Artolia, the leader of the British Legion.

"I’ve said it before: the moment the God of Slaughter enters the battlefield, unforeseen chaos will follow! Sure enough, it didn’t even take long for him to throw the entire situation into disarray." Arthur Artolia, leader of the British Legion, remarked. She had personally fought against Huang Yi during the martial tournament and understood his strength on a deep level. Since Huang Yi returned, her anxiety had grown steadily, now reaching a breaking point.

Caroline, standing beside her, looked hesitant. She bit her lip and asked, "What should we do now?"

Arthur Artolia didn’t hesitate for a moment and said firmly, "We withdraw from this national war immediately. The Hero’s Continent has reached a turning point—it’s no longer a continent anyone can trample on freely. It will only get harder to conquer in the future. Up till now, we’ve already plundered far more resources than we’ve consumed. Leaving now is the smart move."

"But if we retreat now, our reputation will be ruined."

"If we don’t retreat, it’ll be our lives that are ruined."

The two continued debating—one hesitant, the other persuasive.

Similar scenarios were happening in numerous other legions. Over seventy nations were part of the invasion on Hero’s Continent! Many countries had only come to fish in troubled waters, bandwagoning to bully the seemingly weaker Hero’s Continent for easy profit. They bore no deep-seated hatred toward it and never intended a life-and-death showdown.

A short distance away from the Spanish and British legions, two male figures were secretly conversing in private chat mode.

One of them, a thin man, glanced at the burly man beside him and said, "This national war can’t continue. We must withdraw immediately."

The thin man held a Mage Staff-like ice pillar in his hand. His body wasn’t covered by Magic Cannons but rather encased in a layer of Ice Crystals, making him resemble an Ice Sculpture. His face was encrusted with frost, obscuring his expression, but the urgency in his voice revealed the turmoil in his heart. He was Xue Feng, leader of the Canadian Legion and the world’s number-one Ice Mage.

Beside him stood a burly man with a rugged beard—a middle-aged man with a muscular, commanding presence. Resting on his shoulder was a giant axe adorned with barbs, and his armor was similarly covered in spikes. His exposed, sinewed muscles were a faint greyish-green, marking him clearly as a Barbarian. He was Slohot, leader of the Mexican Legion and winner of the Best Barbarian Player award at last year’s annual festival.

Slohot shook his head heavily, his low, booming voice rumbling, "No. Retreating is a disgrace. If we do that, how would the Mexican Legion differ from being dead?"

"If you retreat, it’s just the Mexican Legion that dies. But if you don’t, it’ll be all of Mexico." Xue Feng replied gravely, continuing his persuasion.

"Hmm?" Slohot furrowed his thick brows, his piercing gaze locking onto Xue Feng.

"Have you forgotten the tragedy of the Land of Dongying? With both Heavenly Dao and Miyamoto Musashi—two super-first-class masters—it still wasn’t enough to stop the God of Slaughter. If he holds a grudge and leads his army to invade your continent, how will you defend yourselves?"

With that, Xue Feng wasted no more words. He immediately turned and issued an order to his Canadian Legion: "Everyone, retreat at once!"

To dissociate from the invading army, Xue Feng immediately chose to formally withdraw.

The next moment, a majestic, resonant voice echoed across the Hero’s Continent, cutting through the tense battlefield.

"[Continental Announcement]: [Canadian Legion] has withdrawn from the Hero’s Continent national war."

As the announcement rang out, Xue Feng’s army retreated like a receding tide, rapidly pulling back from the battlefield. From a distance, the vast line of the invading forces now had a massive hole, like a cornerstone suddenly ripped from the foundation of a skyscraper.

The Canadian Legion’s actions sent shockwaves through the nerves of countless players worldwide. Since Huang Yi officially entered the battlefield, four nations had already announced their withdrawal, and now the Canadian Legion had too! The once-mighty invading army was crumbling, piece by piece.

"Roar!" Just then, a thunderous roar erupted from the direction of Xuanyuan City’s walls. Everyone’s eyes turned at once, catching sight of Huang Yi emerging once again from the dragon head! But this time, he wasn’t alone; accompanying him was a two-headed beast!

The creature was a massive snake with two heads at opposite ends of its body, filled with sharp, menacing fangs. Just looking at it gave onlookers goosebumps. The roar earlier had come from this snake—a rarity, as serpents typically didn’t roar. This anomaly made the beast all the more unsettling.

Its aura exuded a chilling and ruthless vibe. Both its heads flicked their tongues, and its triangular eyes stared coldly at the crowd. Anyone who met its gaze felt a shiver running down their spine.

It was clear this snake was a Heavenly Domain-level powerhouse. After its emergence, Huang Yi immediately dispelled the Heavenly Curtain Barrier, letting it leap into the fray to join the chaotic battle against the Soul Ripper and two War Spirits.

Instantly, the Soul Ripper, who was previously on the back foot, stabilized its position, turning the fight into a two-on-two stalemate.

The Canadian Legion, already in retreat, quickened their pace even further, eager to leave this dangerous battlefield as soon as possible.

"We must retreat quickly! Any delay might be too late. The Canadian Legion has already withdrawn. If the Heavenly Domain Guardians stop targeting those twin War Spirits and turn against us, we won’t fare better than clay sculptures—we’ll be mercilessly slaughtered." Arthur Artolia pressed Caroline yet again.

Caroline hesitated, her palms restless with inner turmoil. She glanced at the enormous snake from afar, then turned to the Spanish Legion behind her. Clenching her silver-white teeth, she finally declared, "Alright! We’re withdrawing!"

Smoothing her hair, she raised her delicate hand and loudly commanded the Spanish Legion, "Everyone, follow my command! Retreat immediately! We’re done with this national war!"

Arthur Artolia heaved a sigh of relief and followed suit, signaling her British Legion to withdraw.

In an instant, the invasion front weakened further. What was once a massive wave of millions surrounding Xuanyuan City, forming a daunting black line on the horizon, now had several gaping voids.

"[Continental Announcement]: [Spanish Legion] has withdrawn from the Hero’s Continent national war."

"[Continental Announcement]: [British Legion] has withdrawn from the Hero’s Continent national war."

Two consecutive system announcements once again sent shockwaves through players’ eardrums worldwide.

Meanwhile, at Xuanyuan City’s North Gate, three Heavenly Domain-level powerhouses were locked in fierce combat. One was a Guardian sent from Dragon City, while the other two were War Spirits summoned by Heavenly Dao and Fuchan Fenrao.

"So many nations are retreating; our morale is crumbling!" Heavenly Dao sighed and shook his head, his voice intertwining with the echoing announcements in the sky.

"Then we must fight even more ferociously to stabilize our troops’ morale. If all the other legions withdraw and leave us alone, there’s no way we can win against the Hero’s Continent." Fuchan Fenrao responded resolutely, her dual-headed Underworld War Beast giving a low growl and baring its four fearsome fangs as if to bolster her declaration.

Heavenly Dao glanced at her but said nothing more.

...

Five minutes later, a piercing bird cry resounded from Xuanyuan City’s South City Gate direction!

Once again, countless gazes turned towards the dragon head as Huang Yi emerged from within. This time, a strange bird blazing with roaring flames accompanied him. Its wings spread wide, seemingly covering the sky, as its cries pierced the heavens!

Another Heavenly Domain Guardian!
