Chapter 694 - 666: Crazy Idea (3rd Update)
At this moment, Huang Yi sat astride Little Dragon’s back, gazing down at the corpse of the Level 175 Warrior Guardian below, feeling somewhat reflective.
This Guardian’s strength was on par with that of the Sand Thief King. Now, Huang Yi had personally slain such a formidable individual, which made him doubt the reality of the situation.
"Little Dragon, I’m grateful you lived up to my expectations and advanced to the Growth Phase, otherwise I would have had to resort to my backup plan," Huang Yi murmured, stroking Little Dragon’s head with a touch of sentiment.
Little Dragon needed a fierce battle to break through, and Huang Yi had previously thought of putting him through such a grueling fight to reach the Growth Phase. The recent Warrior Guardian provided a perfect opportunity, so Huang Yi kept his backup plan in reserve, opting instead to stand firm with Little Dragon.
Fortunately, at the critical moment, Little Dragon did not disappoint him and successfully advanced to the Growth Phase, which elevated his strength a step further—growing stronger with each battle.
"Let’s go! We’ll take down the rest of the Guardians as well. Even though we can’t escape the Heavenly Curtain Barrier, there’s no one in this city who can stand against us!" declared Huang Yi, patting Little Dragon’s head, and they swiftly flew away into the night sky, leaving behind only a tiny silhouette to the group of reporters.
The Blood God, who had launched the siege crossbow, left on its own, continuing to hunt down players freely, and all those it killed were chalked up to Huang Yi’s account.
...
Atop the Commanding Platform in Northern Sea City,
Miyamoto Musashi stood alone, his head bowed silently as he observed the several pieces into which the Warrior Guardian’s General’s Token lay shattered on the ground. The once imposing Warrior Guardian was now torn apart, bathed in a faint layer of moonlight, looking somewhat desolate.
A Level 175 from the Top-level Holy Domain, powerful and formidable, only a Second Transformation could deal with them. If it were up to Miyamoto Musashi, he would have had to use an Attribute Exchange Potion Type A.
But he had only seen such a potion once before; it was given to Man Tian to use against Huang Yi, who ended up being killed by Huang Yi instead, and the potion fell into Huang Yi’s hands, used to defeat them during the team competition of the martial contest.
Now, he no longer had such a Type A Attribute Exchange Potion. The potion he used in his battle against Huang Yi tonight was just a Type B version, which only worked on players and couldn’t be used against NPCs.
Yet now, a super strong Guardian that he would have needed an Attribute Exchange Potion to contend with was brutally killed by Huang Yi! Plus, two Level 165 Guardians had previously died!
"Could you really be Unbeaten?" Miyamoto Musashi murmured in frustration. He had initially thought that a Level 175 Guardian was enough to kill Huang Yi but realized it was just a waste of a huge amount of Guild Contribution Points in vain.
A gust of night wind came blowing, causing his samurai robe to flutter loudly, like the sound of a flag waving, but clearly, this flag was not one of victory, but rather a flag of utter defeat.
At that moment, ripples suddenly appeared in the air, and soon after, an old man appeared.
This old man was bent over, his face riddled with wrinkles, leaning on a cane, his eyes cloudy—the vice president of the Martial Arts Guild, Heavenly Ghost Messenger.
"Not even a Level 175 Guardian could stop him!" Heavenly Ghost Messenger got straight to the point with his aged voice, "As of now, nobody in our Guild can match him! Our stock value has plunged another 30% in just one hour!"
"There is always a way if I’m willing to pay the price," said Miyamoto Musashi somberly, as he suddenly took something out of his storage ring to fiddle with in his hand.
It was a round black stone, which, despite the bright moonlight shining upon it, did not take on a soft white glow, but instead seemed even colder.
Miyamoto Musashi bit his lip slightly, his expression hesitant as he stared at the stone, slender fingers gently caressing its surface, feeling the vast strength within it. That strength, however, could only be harnessed at a price, and his reason and greed were fiercely entangled.
"Once you use the King of the Fallen’s Contract Stone, there’s no turning back," Heavenly Ghost Messenger said, looking over the black stone. A flash of sorrow flickered through his murky eyes as he spoke hoarsely.
"I know," Miyamoto Musashi grasped the stone tightly in his palm, looked up at the bright moon in the sky, and slowly said, "Actually tonight, when I saw God of Slaughter burn away the King of Curses’ helmet, there was a moment when I was lost in thought. From that moment on, I seemed to understand why he has risen to such a height. A person with faith is terrifying, and he holds the most steadfast belief. He resisted such intense temptations—even the King of Hell once personally named him The Eighth Great Demon King and promised strength far beyond others if he joined The Seven Archdemons. But he did not choose that path. Such willpower is enough to send shivers down one’s spine."
As he spoke, Miyamoto Musashi’s tone grew slightly manic, "But my will is no worse than his, I am also a person with faith! My faith is victory! This is my conviction, which has brought me to where I am now, even if my methods are somewhat extreme. But I don’t understand, why do I still fail? I have the same belief as him, I once froze myself willingly and ground levels day and night in an attempt to catch up with him. When I could not keep up with his level, I gave up a lot of grinding time, spending every day in the laboratory studying potions, hoping to use them to defeat him..."
Saying this, Miyamoto Musashi clutched the King of the Fallen’s Contract Stone even tighter, his veins showing, and shakily said, "Everything I’ve done, everything I’ve stood for, was to be able to defeat him, even if it meant using the most shameless tactics, like taking hostages, which everyone despises! But why can’t I still win? I have dedicated my life to pursuing victory, but why is it that since encountering God of Slaughter, I have never been able to grasp it again?"
"Perhaps what you consider faith is nothing more than pure madness," Heavenly Ghost Messenger fell silent for a while, then raised his head, staring at the faint golden barrier in the sky, and said, "Actually, we’re not out of options. We could slightly weaken the Heavenly Curtain Barrier, or open the Teleportation Circle, and deliberately let God of Slaughter escape. That way, we can claim to outsiders that God of Slaughter ran away, which would save us some face. Right now, we’re not trapping a dog in a room but inviting a wolf into the house, if we don’t let this starved wolf out, we’ll all die here."
"Ha! Let him escape?" Miyamoto Musashi twisted his expression as if he heard the most ridiculous joke in the world, shook his head firmly, and said, "No, we absolutely can’t let him escape! I’ve said countless times, I must kill him no matter what! I’ve placed a Samsara Curse on him, as long as I kill him once, even if it’s just once, he will completely fall to me! By the time his reincarnation ends, we will have grown to heights he can only look up to, and he’ll never be a threat again!"
"But none of us is his match anymore! Are you really going to use that Contract Stone?" Heavenly Ghost Messenger leaned on his cane and sighed softly in the night wind.
"No, I have another way!" Miyamoto Musashi said, then turned his head to glance at the few General’s Tokens floating in the air, "I can summon even stronger Guardians to deal with him."
"Stronger Guardians?" Heavenly Ghost Messenger heard the answer and immediately shook his head, "He can even kill Guardians of level 175. The next level would be 185, but even a Guardian of level 185 would just be slightly stronger than him, which might repel him but would hardly kill him. That’s useless."
Miyamoto Musashi sneered, countering, "What if we add a 195-level Guardian?"
"Level 195? We don’t have enough Guild Contribution Points for that!" Heavenly Ghost Messenger immediately pointed out a critical issue, "Even summoning a level 185 Guardian would consume all our Guild Contribution Points. And a level 195 Guardian would require even more points. We cannot summon one!"
Miyamoto Musashi shook his head, "If we don’t have the Guild Contribution Points, then we’ll earn them. I will manage to get a large sum of money from the family, to redeem our shares while using it to build the Guild. I’ll order those below to fully develop the other Guild Territories. Once we employ all construction methods without thinking about the cost, we can definitely earn enough Guild Contribution Points in a few days. Then, we can summon a level 195 Guardian."
Upon hearing this plan, Heavenly Ghost Messenger was briefly startled. To earn so many Contribution Points in just a few days would require a massive expenditure on construction. Besides, their remaining territories were already built up, and any further construction would either be redundant or build something of little practical significance, purely a waste of money.
"This... that’s too wasteful! How much money would that cost!" Heavenly Ghost Messenger stammered out after a long pause, finding Miyamoto Musashi’s idea to be the craziest he’d ever heard in his life.
"As long as it kills him once, it’s not a waste," Miyamoto Musashi shook his head, then said no more, and immediately expended what little Guild Contribution Points the Martial Arts Guild had left to summon a brand new Guardian!
This Guardian was level 185 and stood in the void without even wings. With long hair loosely draped behind and a round scimitar on his back, his aura was significantly more powerful than Miyamoto Musashi and Heavenly Ghost Messenger on the field.
"There’s an enemy in our territory causing a massacre, go stop him! If you get the chance, then kill him!" Miyamoto Musashi instructed the new level 185 Guardian. This time, he chose the word ’stop’ rather than ’kill’ first!
He understood that although the level 185 Guardian was stronger than Huang Yi, it would still be difficult to kill him.
"Yes, Lord!" The level 185 Guardian acknowledged at once, stepping swiftly into the void, racing toward the distance, and soon disappeared into the night.
