Chapter 653 - 628 Zhitian Shi’s Painful Decision
Finally, Zhitian Shi made her way through the crowd and arrived at the front.
At this moment, she appeared calm, just like every other time she had been in public. However, deep in her eyes, a hint of panic flickered. She only glanced at Huang Yi and felt her heart rate accelerate, ever since the martial arts tournament, she thought of Huang Yi daily, and seeing him now suddenly made the world seem not like the world, and herself not like herself. She had never experienced this feeling in her entire life before, leaving her at a loss. But there were too many strangers around, and she struggled to maintain her image.
"Zhitian Shi, long time no see," Huang Yi said as he noticed Zhitian Shi’s arrival, knowing that the main character had appeared, his expression finally became solemn. Miyamoto Musashi was still in Northern Sea City, and Zhitian Shi was the absolute boss in Muyi City. His Treasure-sniffing Ability detected that Zhitian Shi had six pieces of Legendary Equipment, on the same level as Miyamoto Musashi, shining like the sun!
"Are you okay?" Upon hearing Huang Yi’s greeting, Zhitian Shi’s heart fluttered, and she instinctively asked back as if they were a pair of close friends who hadn’t seen each other for a long time.
However, this greeting sounded like mockery to the ears of the bystanders.
Huang Yi glanced at Zhitian Shi and responded indifferently, "Thanks to you all, I’ve been doing very well!"
Zhitian Shi felt a pang of pain in her heart, not knowing how to respond, and stood there in silence.
The greatest distance in the world is none other than standing right in front of you, yet you don’t know I love you, and you’re even standing against me!
The people around saw the atmosphere had calmed down and held their breath, thinking this was the calm before the storm and that a fierce battle would soon break out.
"God of Slaughter, just accept your death!" Just then, Jun Zhiye, who had previously sold flowers to Huang Yi, spoke up, breaking the silence. His face was covered in frost: "You can’t escape now, our city gates are closed, the Teleportation Circle only allows entry and not exits, and the sky is covered by the Heavenly Domain Level Heavenly Curtain Barrier. Even a Heavenly Domain Level powerhouse would need ten minutes to break through it. I must say, you are indeed very powerful, but it’s useless, you’re trapped to death. Miyamoto Musashi has already been informed about the situation here and will arrive soon, and then it will be time for you to die."
Just then, the Big Baddie incarnation of Huang Yi located in Northern Sea City sensed that Miyamoto Musashi had descended from the second floor of the teahouse, striding out of the teahouse, and quickly heading towards the Teleportation Circle, soon to teleport to Muyi City.
At this moment, Jun Zhiye waved towards the others and commanded, "Now, everyone, gather around the God of Slaughter, I want to see if he really dares to kill!"
No sooner had he spoken than those who were not in a Sinful State stepped forward, surrounding Huang Yi in a tight circle, resembling a bit like a star surrounded by a crowd of fans.
Some even stretched out their necks, pointing at Huang Yi and saying, "Come on! God of Slaughter, come and kill me! Come and chop off my head!"
"Come and kill me, come and kill me!" The others also laughed and mocked, their laughing faces vividly presented before Huang Yi, filled with irony.
Zhitian Shi had just said they wanted to induce Huang Yi to go on a killing spree, to pile up his Sin Value. That way, when he gets killed, he would directly drop to level 1.
Whether for the sake of being cautious or because of the Slaughter Curse, Huang Yi cannot now recklessly kill the innocent unless he activates War Mode. But once War Mode is activated, he will have no way out.
Huang Yi looked around at the crowd, his figure suddenly flashed, and he dashed directly out of the crowd, unwilling to entangle with these people. He hadn’t yet saved the hostages, and he couldn’t afford to fight with abandon; rescuing the hostages was the top priority.
Soon, Huang Yi’s figure flitted into the distance, leaving behind a group of stunned onlookers, none of whom had expected Huang Yi to choose to leave and not engage in this battle.
"Everyone, chase him! We must force him to kill!" Jun Zhiye made a prompt decision and gave the order, immediately leading the pursuit towards the direction Huang Yi had gone.
Quickly, the entire alley’s populace followed suit, initiating a city-wide hunt for Huang Yi in Muyi City.
Zhitian Shi also turned to look in the direction where Huang Yi had disappeared, bit her lip, and quickly followed him.
Suddenly, all of Muyi City seemed to be engaged in a game of cat and mouse. Huang Yi was the cat while countless mice willingly offered themselves to be killed, yet he could not take their lives.
Huang Yi swiftly navigated through the streets and alleyways of Muyi City, skimming under the shadows of buildings, searching for any trace of Qin Shiyu.
Gradually, he arrived at a garden in Muyi City. The garden, far from the city center with its carved fences, was lush with vegetation, chirping birds, and fragrant flowers, devoid of any noise. Huang Yi followed a serpentine path to a small pond, where he then stopped, standing with his hands clasped behind his back, seemingly waiting for something.
The air was quiet; the occasional cheer of birds calmed Huang Yi’s tense heart a bit.
"God of Slaughter, do you think you can avoid our pursuit this way?" Just then, a crisp voice echoed from behind Huang Yi—it was Zhitian Shi’s voice.
"You’ve been tailing me for so long, yet you haven’t alerted the others, what exactly is your purpose?" Huang Yi asked, as if he had anticipated Zhitian Shi’s arrival, without turning his head.
Just now, while he was fleeing, Huang Yi could always feel that Zhitian Shi seemed to have some odd ability, always managing to hang far behind him. Yet, she didn’t disturb anyone else, merely following him alone from a distance. Huang Yi deliberately led her to this secluded garden to see what schemes she might have up her sleeve.
At this moment, Zhitian Shi stood behind a camphor tree, watching Huang Yi’s figure in front of the pond, her expression complex. She had fantasized countless times about being alone with Huang Yi, and now she finally had the chance, but not as lovers—rather, as enemies.
"I’m not following you for any particular reason," Zhitian Shi said, biting her lip, "My brother will soon be here, and by then it will be too late for you to leave. I know that Muyi City can’t hold you, so you should hurry and go!"
"Oh?" Huang Yi frowned slightly and finally turned to look at Zhitian Shi. Seeing her gentle expression, which didn’t seem like she had any schemes, he asked curiously, "Why would you help me?"
"I, I just think my brother’s methods are too despicable, and I wanted to do something to make up for that," Zhitian Shi said, slightly flustered, and didn’t dare to look into Huang Yi’s eyes. Her face started to redden, becoming incredibly shy, "Please go! You won’t be able to save Qin Shiyu, she’s heavily guarded; it’s a plot by my brother. He’s just using Qin Shiyu to lure you into a trap. The person he really wants to kill is you, he has made all the preparations, and this time he will completely get rid of you."
"I know," Huang Yi nodded, his response noncommittal.
"Then why are you still coming?" Zhitian Shi was slightly taken aback.
Huang Yi’s mind immediately conjured up the image of Qin Shiyu, and he said faintly, "For the one I love, there is nothing I wouldn’t do."
Upon hearing this sentence, Zhitian Shi’s body trembled, she bit her lip, and looked at Huang Yi without moving. At this moment, they were only a short distance apart, yet it felt as if there were mountains and seas between them.
Suddenly, she felt an intense envy towards Qin Shiyu. Huang Yi was venturing into a dragon pit and tiger’s den to rescue her, knowing fully well the danger. The man she could not have was wholly possessed by Qin Shiyu.
"It’s a pity I don’t have the keys to the prison, otherwise I could let Qin Shiyu go," Zhitian Shi said, biting her lip and trying hard to keep her emotions in check.
"Do you have anything else to say? If not, I’m leaving. I will go save her myself," Huang Yi told Zhitian Shi, before striding away without spending an extra moment, not even for the beauty of Zhitian Shi.
Zhitian Shi watched Huang Yi’s figure grow further away, as if her world was slowly leaving her, as if she were being abandoned by the world. The man she had dreamed of day and night was leaving her.
Right at that moment, Zhitian Shi suddenly bit down on her teeth, as if making a certain resolution, and called out, "Wait!"
"What is it?" Huang Yi stopped walking and turned to look at her.
He slightly turned his face, basked in the warm sunlight, and was reflected in Zhitian Shi’s eyes. She watched him greedily, each second seeming like a luxury, every additional gaze creating a richer memory for the future.
"Take me with you!" Zhitian Shi said with a trembling voice, as if she was pouring out all the secrets of her heart with those words. She wished she could be with Huang Yi forever, like those eloping stories in fairy tales, escaping to a place where no one else existed.
Huang Yi stood still, dumbfounded, never having anticipated that Zhitian Shi would say such a thing. After a while, he asked in confusion, "Why?"
Slowly closing her eyes, Zhitian Shi said in agony, "If I must say a benefit to doing this, you can take me as a hostage to force my brother to release Qin Shiyu."
In that moment, she betrayed her own brother—nearly twenty years of kinship whipped her heart mercilessly.
But behind that pain, there was also happiness. If she became his hostage, that would be doing something for him, right?
Even if she couldn’t be Qin Shiyu, she might still touch his heart for a moment, right?
Even if they were still enemies the next time they met, perhaps he would be a little softer-hearted, right?
Even if he couldn’t fall in love with her, at least he wouldn’t forget her, right?
Even if he was only using her, she could stay with him a little longer, breathing in the same air he had breathed, right?
Zhitian Shi comforted herself over and over again in her heart. At this moment, she was like Miyamoto Musashi in her extremes, all means serving her end, regardless of the cost.
However, Miyamoto Musashi’s motivation was hate, whereas Zhitian Shi’s was love. (To be continued.
