Chapter 559 - 3 The Team Champion is Finally Decided_2
The skill consumed energy at a rate of ten times the level of the fused corpse! Since Huang Yi had merged with a Level 93 Qin Shiyu, he was draining 930 energy points per second. Even if he had a full 3000 energy points, they would only last just over 3 seconds, and Zhitian Shi was confident she could evade him for that duration!
But what she didn’t anticipate was that Huang Yi actually possessed a Special Energy Stone, the stuff of legends! The item level of Special Energy Stones was a mere F-class, yet they were even rarer than S-class top-level potions! Even with Miyamoto Musashi’s ability, after scouring the entire Japanese mainland, he had only managed to find three! And he was too reluctant to use them himself, giving all of them to Zhitian Shi.
Zhitian Shi never imagined that the three indispensable conditions, S-class Attribute Exchange Potion, Skill Copying, Special Energy Stone—the three methods that ordinary experts could not possibly possess—Huang Yi had them all!
At that moment, she suddenly felt incredibly powerless, as if Huang Yi was an invincible foe, even if the Martial Arts Guild gathered all the top experts from across Japan! They were the elite picked from hundreds of millions of Japanese players, and their unexpected trump cards had been forced out one after the other, yet they were still unable to defeat him!
By now, Huang Yi’s Corpse Fusion had taken effect, and Qin Shiyu’s body abruptly stood up from the ground, rushed over to his side, and merged with him.
In an instant, the level of Huang Yi’s incarnation shot up from 120 to 213, exactly the same as Zhitian Shi’s. However, his Attributes were far from matching his opponent’s, because this was his incarnation, and All Attributes were only 50% of the original! Even after adding Qin Shiyu’s Attributes, it was still too low!
Huang Yi immediately opened the S-class Attribute Exchange Potion in his hand, tipped his head back, and drank it down. Then, staring at the pale-faced Zhitian Shi opposite him, he said coldly, "Attribute Swap!"
There were no unnecessary words in his voice, just those four simple words, but they seemed to carry a strange magic that hit Zhitian Shi hard!
The next moment, a burst of blood-red light surged from Huang Yi and charged towards Zhitian Shi!
From Zhitian Shi’s body, a larger burst of blood-red light surged towards him!
The two had swapped Attributes!
By then, Huang Yi’s Special Energy Stone was used up, the opportunity for Skill Copying was used up, and the Attribute Exchange Potion was used up! But at this moment, he was at a point where Zhitian Shi could not possibly contend with!
"Alright, let’s end all this!" Huang Yi proclaimed to Zhitian Shi, readying his final sentence. Then, flapping the wings behind him, he launched into a forced Pursuit towards her!
All the Chinese spectators once again shouted in frenzy. This time, their cries far exceeded any previous ones! It was like the final wave of climax, charged with an urgent Hope, an excitement of nearing Victory!
Huang Yi’s speeding figure seemed like it was carrying them towards the focal point of Victory! Zhitian Shi had become the finish line ribbon, and closing in on her meant nearing Victory!
Fear flashed in Zhitian Shi’s eyes as she frantically tried to dodge, but her All Attributes had considerably decreased, including her Movement Speed, which meant she couldn’t shake off Huang Yi. The distance between them kept narrowing!
Even a self-destruction was useless, for Huang Yi was in the state of a Last Stand, and he couldn’t die!
Everything was so desperately hopeless!
Five seconds later, Zhitian Shi ultimately failed to dodge and was successfully stunned by Huang Yi’s impact!
"Heavy Judgment!" Huang Yi’s axe fiercely cleaved through the air, carrying a golden sharpness along with the hopes of countless Chinese viewers, and it smashed down onto Zhitian Shi’s body with full force!
"Boom!" As if a gavel had sealed the verdict, Zhitian Shi’s delicate body burst into fragments, scattering in every corner of the arena!
In the next moment, the long-missed system prompt finally rang out—
"[System Prompt]: Heroes’ Guild has won this battle and become the champions of the team competition."
This system prompt resounded in the ears of ten billion people in the venue, in the ears of every player who had died in the arena, and in countless televisions, radios, and handheld photon brains in the real world!
After overcoming myriad difficulties, Heroes’ Guild finally claimed the championship of the team competition!
They defeated an opponent that seemed impossible to beat!
Japan is ranked 10th in the world by population size and has hundreds of millions of players. The Martial Arts Guild gathered all the top-level experts of their entire country, their trump cards abundant and ever-surprising! They were a team that was nearly invincible!
Yet even such an invincible team was defeated by Heroes’ Guild!
This is a myth! This is an epic! This is a legend!
————————
I’ve finally finished writing this Chapter. I felt a lot of pressure writing it because I couldn’t finish the match in one go last night, and I was writing until after two in the morning, leaving a bit of a loose end. Today, the book review section is full of criticism, and as I wrote this Chapter, I couldn’t settle my mind because the anger of the readers always lingered in my thoughts. I’ve been writing since I got up, and I didn’t even eat lunch, but at last, I’ve managed to finish it with difficulty.
Actually, my idea was to write an exciting match. Some readers had previously told me that in the first million words, the protagonist was only fighting against NPCs, making it feel like a single-player game. I also felt that the protagonist’s battles with other people were too few, and that fights with other players were basically over with a single axe blow, with no suspense in the battles.
Therefore, I arranged a martial arts tournament in this volume to make up for this deficiency. However, as the tournament has progressed, people have been saying that the matches are boring. I was anxious, too, and made changes to the plot in the middle, introducing the invasion of the Seven Demon Lords’ Vanguard to adjust the mood. I also wanted to reverse the situation in the matches, to make the final battle unpredictable and thrilling with a narrow victory.
But unexpectedly, this made the readers even more disgusted, with many saying, "If the protagonist used his ultimate move right away, wouldn’t he have won the championship directly?" This kind of thought actually comes from the hindsight of knowing the course of the match. Before the match started, no one knew what would happen; the protagonist thought he could win with just 5 percent of his power, keeping his moves secret for later use without exposing them. The same went for the Martial Arts Guild—they wouldn’t use a butcher knife to kill a chicken. But their repeated clashes forced them to reveal their next trump card time and again.
Reflecting on the entire martial arts tournament, the part I’m most satisfied with is the protagonist conceding in the individual finals, but the unsatisfactory part is that the tournament took too long to write and became somewhat tedious. Overall, writing this martial arts tournament was very painful. The author racked his brains to write it well, but it was not appealing in the eyes of the readers. The readers were frustrated, and so was the writer. This is due to my lack of experience. If I had to do it over again, maybe I wouldn’t choose a plot like the martial arts tournament.
It’s a harsh lesson! It exposed the issue of the author’s lack of experience. If it were the masters like Tomato, Tang family’s three young master, or Tudou, they definitely wouldn’t make such a mistake and would quickly get through such a plot.
Lastly, thank you to those who were willing to stick around and read this book! I’m a bit slow, I’ve been writing for several years, and I’ve written several books, but I still haven’t fully mastered the art of writing engrossing narratives. I’m sorry. (To be continued.
