Heroes' Prison

Chapter 315 - 309 Knight and Sunset

Chapter 315 - 309 Knight and Sunset

Days went by, one after another.

These recent days, a group of criminals from Rose Prison arrived in some towns near Dragon City and applied to join Huang Yi’s Hero Guild at the Guild Hall. These were all high-quality talents, mostly consisting of Rare Races, as well as a batch of even more precious Rare Class holders.

Currently, including the professionals like Nameless whom the Hero Guild had recruited earlier, the number of Rare Class Holders in the guild had reached 67, ranking third globally, with the Sun Guild led by Thunder God, Lei Shen, in second place.

The recent rapid growth in the number of talented individuals in these two guilds made outsiders feel as if they were witnessing the earlier competed scene between Huang Yi and Lei Shen vying for the Best Newcomer Award, enhancing the false impression that Huang Yi and Lei Shen were archenemies.

In the future, once all the criminals from Rose Prison who chose Chinese citizenship had joined either the Hero Guild or the Sun Guild, both guilds would further advance!

The number of Rare Class Holders to a great extent indicated the strength of a guild, as guilds rely on talent. And Rare Class Holders are the highest level of talent, with a natural advantage, being characters that exist outside the rules, capable of disrupting the balance in The Second World to some extent.

Of course, the opportunity to become a Rare Class Holder is available to everyone, the fairest of all, extending from the Federal President to the lowest slum beggar without distinction. No matter how much money one spends or how expensive the virtual equipment used, it only buys a high-level class, putting one in a position that is neither here nor there. To obtain a more powerful Rare Class requires one to give up special privileges and, like ordinary players, take on Rare Quests, just as Huang Yi had done.

That day, as usual, Huang Yi had breakfast, did some exercises, and then went online to check the forum.

"God of Slaughter, Thunder God in fierce competition! The number of Rare Class Holders in both Hero Guild and Sun Guild reaches 72, both break the world record and are tied for first place globally!"

In the 24-hour hot posts on the forum, the top-ranked post was the latest news about the Hero Guild and the Sun Guild, which was news even Huang Yi didn’t know about, as it must have happened while he was offline. He couldn’t help but click to read more.

"According to the latest leaderboard data, the Hero Guild under the God of Slaughter added five formidable generals today, surging their number of Rare Class Holders to 72, breaking the previous world record of 71 held by the Xuanyuan Clan and temporarily claiming the top spot globally. Not to be outdone, the Sun Guild led by Thunder God also had three newcomers join today, bringing their number of Rare Class Holders to the same count of 72, surpassing the Xuanyuan Clan and tying with the Hero Guild for the world’s first place. With the retirement of their star attraction Dao Feng, the Xuanyuan Clan has fallen to third place, no longer in the limelight."

Following the first paragraph of the post, there was a screenshot of the leaderboard data, showing the Hero Guild and the Sun Guild indeed tied for first place with 72 Rare Class Holders each, while the Xuanyuan Clan was trailing by a mere one individual, temporarily in third place. The fourth-ranked guild was far behind, the Heaven’s Guild under the Pope, holding 53 Rare Class Holders.

The author of the post also shared their perspective right after that.

"In this recent period, with the Pope’s frequent restructuring of the guild and Dao Feng’s quiet retreat, the old guard’s desolation is apparent. Today, with the Hero Guild and the Sun Guild both breaking the record, it signifies that The Second World has officially entered a new phase of changeover from old to new. The older generation led by Dao Feng and the Pope are being caught up by the new generation spearheaded by the God of Slaughter and Thunder God, heralding an era where the new and old will compete for supremacy on the same stage."

"Recently, over six hundred new Rare Class Holders were added to The Second World, spread across various countries. The majority of this new influx either chose to go solo, to start their own powers, or to join new emerging forces. Only a small portion joined the already established guilds. The addition of this batch of Rare Class Holders to the China Region reflects the same pattern, with only a few joining the Xuanyuan Clan and the Hall of Famous Generals. Most have joined the new and potential-rich Hero and Sun Guilds. Their inclusion will undoubtedly add even more potential to these two guilds..."

Huang Yi scrolled through the comments below, seeing that almost all players believed that he and Thunder God Lei Shen were sworn enemies, engaging in endless feuds. Their fans were even quarreling fiercely, creating an atmosphere full of hostility.

Some previous posts had also discussed the grudges between them, especially the times Lei Shen took down Huang Yi for bounties, all of which exaggerated their relationship as antagonistic as that of Dao Feng and Dragon Spike in the past.

Huang Yi was pleased to see such misunderstandings. The deeper the world misunderstood, the more they could use these misunderstandings to reap substantial benefits, as proved by Lei Shen’s multi-million bounty.

The identity of Thunder God, Lei Shen, has yet to be guessed by anyone, given that Lei Shen’s trial was a secret, and the outside world had no knowledge of him—only knowing about a group of terrorists who caused a nuclear leak in the Pacific. And those in the know, such as the World Federation, couldn’t prove Thunder God was Lei Shen; with Era of Corporation’s constraints, they couldn’t investigate matters related to The Second World.

Huang Yi logged out and continued browsing through other posts.

"Heavenly Dao continues the legend, breaking the 60th floor world record of the Tower of Pantheons by an overwhelming 5 minutes!"

Just then, another post caught Huang Yi’s attention, and he clicked to take a look.

"Breaking news! At 7:55 a.m. Tokyo time this morning, Heavenly Dao, at the incredibly low level of 65, has once again shattered the world record for the 60th floor of the Tower of Pantheons, pushing the record time forward by nearly 5 minutes. This achievement has been the largest margin of record-breaking for this floor to date. Given that breaking the 60th-floor record of the Tower of Pantheons grants a map of Earth Dragon Valley, this world record has drawn the most active participation of all experts. To date, a total of 14 people have broken this world record, including Dao Feng’s ongoing rival, Instakill. With this record-breaking feat, Heavenly Dao has successfully defended his title as the king of records. This formidable record is likely to stand uncontested in the future, becoming a permanent record, and the number of Earth Dragon Valley maps will be fixed at 14. Meanwhile, China emerges as the biggest winner in this record-breaking battle, with Dao Feng and Instakill each obtaining an Earth Dragon Valley map..."

Seeing the time Heavenly Dao took to break the record, Huang Yi couldn’t help but compare it with his current status. He was now level 75, which should have been the most suitable time to break the record, but even using his full strength, he still found it hard to surpass Heavenly Dao’s current world record. The other player must possess some travel-speed-enhancing treasure that significantly reduced the travel time. At their level of strength, actually defeating the boss doesn’t take long; it’s all about who can gain an advantage during the travel phase to break the record.

However, Huang Yi didn’t care; he had already broken the record twice, and doing it again would be meaningless.

Next, Huang Yi entered The Second World.

He appeared inside a house in Dragon City, which had now become a gathering area for the Hero Guild. The guild members, particularly the higher-ups, had mostly settled here, each dividing up a house for themselves.

At this moment, there weren’t many people on the streets outside the window, as most were at work or school, and few were logged on. The sun shined quietly, and the trees by the side of the street were drooping listlessly, lacking vitality.

Huang Yi immediately messaged a few people and left his residence, heading for the Dragon City Teleport Plaza.

After passing through several streets and alleys, Huang Yi arrived at the Teleport Plaza in no time. Among the moving crowd in the plaza stood an especially conspicuous Elf Swordsman. The Elf Swordsman was about 1.8 meters tall, with a slender build, smooth hair, pointed ears, and delicate, fair features, almost beautiful. He stood there calmly, exuding a gentle and soothing aura, like a handsome figure standing out in a crowd.

This man attracted many second glances, including Huang Yi’s attention, who immediately sent him a team invite.

"Knight, you’re too conspicuous," said Huang Yi jokingly in the team chat as soon as the Elf Swordsman joined—a mode where outsiders couldn’t hear them.

"Don’t sweat the small stuff. When are they coming?" The Elf Swordsman smiled lightly as he spoke. His name was Knight, a convict from Rose Prison, and a Swordsman of a Rare Class. After entering The Second World, he had developed well and was being groomed by Huang Yi.

"One’s arrived!" Just as Knight finished his question, Huang Yi suddenly received a team request. It was sent by a player named Sunset, another convict from Rose Prison, who, amongst the dozens of Rare Class Holders, stood out and was also being cultivated by Huang Yi.

"Knight, you’re too conspicuous!" As soon as Sunset joined the team, he greeted the Elf Swordsman from a distance, his voice gruff.

Following that, Sunset’s figure made its way over from the distant crowd. Sunset was a Knight of a Rare Class, similar in traits to a general, a team-oriented profession, bringing beneficial effects to his team members with skills inclined towards command, orders, and horn-blowing, battlefield-like abilities. His build, too, mirrored that of a general who had battled across fields, robust and powerful, clad in a blood-red armor, as if he had just won a triumphant victory and was returning in glory.

"Knight, you’re too conspicuous!" Another person joined the team and then, an old man with a walking stick emerged from the crowd.

The newcomer was Overlord.

"You’re the third to say that," Knight shrugged with a sense of resignation, and smiled helplessly.

His smile caused some of the girls in the Teleportation Field to stare in a daze. Some even deliberately walked in front of him, pretending to teleport away, only to return shortly after, acting as though they had just arrived. Some of them went back and forth like this five or six times, just to catch another glimpse of him. (To be continued.
