Chapter 136: Inventorying the Spoils of War

Chapter 136: Inventorying the Spoils of War

Light and shadow intermingled, the world shifted, and Huang Yi found himself in another place.

Then, the sounds of players’ discussions reached his ears—

"I wonder how Instakill is doing now!"

"Guifu Heilang is so powerful, Instakill definitely can’t escape this calamity!"

"Check the level rankings. If he’s died, he’ll definitely drop levels!"

...

Huang Yi looked around; he was in a square surrounded by players, their voices clear and filled with the breath of life.

This was Hedun City, the place where he was born.

Huang Yi breathed a sigh of relief. Now, he was safe. In an instant, he had gone from the farthest place he’d ever been to the place where he had just been born, as if undergoing a cycle of life.

The people around were discussing him. Huang Yi left without a stir, weaving through the crowd and turning into a secluded garden. He found a long wooden bench, sat down, and then began checking his storage ring.

Today’s loot was the most bountiful since he’d been born into The Second World!

First, Huang Yi started inspecting the items dropped by the Level 60 Ice General. In total, five items had dropped! Huang Yi picked up a piece of chainmail first.

It was a piece of clothing, the most important part of a full set of armor. The style of the chainmail was form-fitting, made entirely of ice-blue rings, which under the moonlight emitted a faint blue glow. The design on the rings was exquisite and noble, resembling a work of art. As his palm touched it, a row of finely joined rings slid across his palm, cold to the touch and of great texture.

[Ice Chain Armor] (Orange Gear, Armor - Clothing)

Physical Defense: 260

Strength +300

Health Points Maximum +10%

Ice Resistance +15

All damage received reduced by 10%

Reduces the movement speed and attack speed of all enemies within a 50-meter radius by 20%

Durability: 1000/1000

Required Level: 50

Equipment Score: 500

Item Description: Chainmail radiating the aura of chill, wearing it is like being cloaked in a layer of solid ice, boasting a defensive power not inferior to heavy armor.

This was actually Orange Gear!

This was the first time he had ever looted Orange Gear; even when he had slain Man Lie, only a Purple Martial had dropped and there had been no Orange Gear!

Orange Gear represents the finest equipment among all the players in the world. The likes of Dao Feng were formidable not only due to their own strength, but a large part of that was because they were equipped with Orange Gear. This was the best equipment available, beyond which only the legendary, elusive Legendary Equipment existed, and so far, no one had ever acquired any.

Huang Yi, at level 40 and with his drop rate doubled, finally obtained a piece of Legendary Orange Gear. This single piece of equipment alone was enough to compensate for his hard work over the past few days!

He immediately put on the Legendary Orange Gear; now that he was level 43 and with the Overlord’s Contract Jewelry Set allowing him to equip items 8 levels in advance, he met the requirements to wear the Ice Chain Armor.

As soon as he put on this piece of equipment, he could clearly feel a chilly aura enveloping him, cool and refreshing. Meanwhile, his attributes soared dramatically. He had been wearing a level 33 Purple set from the Murloc Nightcrawler, which, although it provided set effects, was ultimately lower in both level and quality. After changing into this level 50 Legendary piece, even though he lost the set effects, his attributes increased rather than decreased! This single piece of Legendary Gear was almost equivalent to the combined attributes of two or three pieces of his previous equipment!

Satisfied, Huang Yi straightened his clothes and then turned his attention to the second item.

This was an icy blue fruit that resembled a blue apple, looking crystal clear and irresistibly tempting.

[Ice Fruit] (Grade D, Functional Treasure)

Required Level: 10

A fruit imbued with the power of ice; consuming it will permanently grant 10 points of Ice Resistance.

Another functional treasure! Previously, Huang Yi had obtained two such treasures. The first was an S-grade [Eye of the Hydra - Deathscale], which gave him the Eye of Time ability; the second was the B-grade treasure he had recently acquired, [Shadow Dance·Talent Blood], which bestowed upon him the exotic skill Shadow Dance. Now this Ice Fruit was the third, adding a passive effect, Ice Resistance +10 points, meaning it would reduce ice damage by 10%.

Huang Yi opened his mouth and swallowed the Ice Fruit in one bite.

After eating the Ice Fruit, Huang Yi wiped his mouth and picked up the third item. It was a thumb-sized icy blue crystal with a tiny shadow frozen inside, unmistakably a miniature version of the Ice General, except it was diminished countless times, looking like a little piece of amber.

[Ice General Crystal] (Grade D, Material)

Required Level: 30

Item Description: A crystal stone condensed with the essence of an Ice General’s life.

Another crystal. Huang Yi had previously gotten Half-Beast Crystals from killing level 40 leader Barbaric Hammer and level 50 leader Man Lie. Now he had another one. Crystals were very useful materials, but their effects generally became apparent after level 50, because that’s when players would awaken their War Souls, and crystals were important items to cultivate War Souls.

Still far from level 50, Huang Yi couldn’t make use of this crystal just yet and so had to store it in his storage ring.

Now, only the last two items dropped by the Ice General remained. These were two stones, both very rare Energy Stones, one of which was Grade D and could add 1000 Energy Points. But the other stone was slightly different in color, having a faint red hue unlike any Energy Stone he had seen before.

Curious, Huang Yi picked up that Energy Stone to inspect it.

[Special Energy Stone] (Grade F, Consumable Treasure)

Required Level: 10

Item Description: A stone containing special energy that can provide an infinite amount of energy for one time.

Unlimited energy!

Huang Yi had never encountered such a claim before, but its meaning was clear; this Special Energy Stone could let Huang Yi enjoy himself without worrying about depleting his Energy Value.

For example, when Huang Yi used the Eye of Time to view the past, he could normally only see tens of thousands of years back because then his 3000 Energy Points would be exhausted and he couldn’t continue. But with this Energy Stone, he would break that limit and could look at history from hundreds of thousands or even billions of years ago. The Special Energy Stone could provide him with unlimited energy for one time, without worrying about insufficient Energy Points.

But it could only be used once, and then it would be gone.

After going through the Ice General’s drops, Huang Yi took out a golden box.

Inside the golden box was the Heart of the Sand Thief King!
