Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 347: A fine line

Chapter 347: A fine line

"Where am I?" Those were the serial killer's first words when he woke up.

He didn't even bother looking to see if there was anything else around him, he was just thinking about where he was.

Once he found that he didn't know, it seemed like he was trying to figure out if there was a way out of this place for himself.

He was the kind of person that seemed to only care about his own life, so he was someone that immediately tried to figure out the best way for him to keep himself safe.

After looking around, he finally noticed that there were people here with him.

"Who are you?"

Even though he was all bound up, he didn't seem afraid at all with the way that he acted.

It seemed that he was certain that he would be able to get out of this place.

When we saw him acting this way, we couldn't help shaking our heads.

But it wasn't as if he would be able to escape since we had gone this far to capture him.

Since we already knew what kind of power that he had, it was easy for us to figure out a way to restrain that power.

Seeing that we weren't saying anything, the serial killer suddenly laughed before saying, "Do you really think that you can catch me like this? Who do you think you are?"

When neither of us answered, he just said, "Well, I've memorized your faces, so know that I'll definitely be coming for you."

After that, he had a look on his face as if he thought that he had already won.

But that expression soon disappeared.

It was as if he suddenly realized that something was wrong.

This was the reason that we hadn't bothered hiding our faces.

After all, it wasn't as if he would be able to escape this place.

Once the serial killer realized that his skill wasn't activating, that was when he started to panic.

But he forced himself to stay calm as he said, "What did you do?"

Neither of us were actually inclined to answer this question as we both just calmly watched him as he went through this rollercoaster of emotions. When it was finally over, I said, "We have a few questions that we want to ask you. That's how we will decide what we will do with you."

If this was said before, the serial killer wouldn't have cared about it that much since he was still confident that he would have been able to escape.

But now that he knew that there was no way out for him, there was a chill that ran down his spine when this was said.

"Who are you?" That was all that the serial killer could say in the end.

However, I said, "This isn't the place for you to be asking questions. I urge you to answer honestly."

Another chill ran down the serial killer's spine, but he didn't say anything in the end as he glared at me.

I had to admit that he was quite ugly, even more so when he glared at me like this.

I ignored this all as I asked, "Why did you choose young women?"

The serial killer seemed to be taken aback when he heard this.

It was clear that this was the last thing that he had been expected to be asked.

He would have understood if it was a question about his ability or about who he was, but he certainly didn't expect it to be a question about his choices.

In the end, the serial killer said, "Why not? They were the ones that rejected me in the first place, so I'm just getting back at them."

The way that he answered seemed like this came from the very bottom of his heart.

It was as if this was something that he believed in with every fiber of his being.

It went to show just what kind of person he was…

"As expected, you really aren't anything good."

The serial killer couldn't help being caught off guard once more when he heard this, but this time it seemed like the serial killer had an opinion about this. It seemed like this even touched on a sensitive topic for this serial killer with how he responded.

"Who are you to judge me with your appearances? It's clear that you've never suffered a single day in your life with that kind of appearance, so how could you say anything like that to me?"

Even though it seemed like the serial killer had quite a bit to say about this matter, neither Aragon nor I bothered listening to him. Instead, what we focused on was setting up an altar.

Once it was set up, we summoned Tempest.

"This is the one?" He asked us when he appeared.

Both Aragon and I gave a nod of agreement before turning to leave.

After all, neither of us wanted to see what happened next.

"What are you…Ah, what is this!?"

We could hear the voice of the serial killer behind us, but we just ignored it since this was the fate that he was destined for.

But before we did this, we had to verify one thing.

After all, when it came to absorbing humans, there was a fine line to walk.

If Tempest were to absorb too many humans, then it would only be a matter of time before he became a monster that was obsessed with absorbing people. However, it was inevitable that things like this would happen one day.

As such, it was best to define a line that we wouldn't cross.

The one that we chose was to make sure that we only absorbed people that deserved it.

If they attacked us, naturally we would fight back.

In the case of this serial killer, he was nothing more than scum based on what we had already learned about him. The way that he answered the question confirmed this even more.

As such, there was no qualms about absorbing him and taking his skill.
