Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law

Chapter 276 276: Danger on the Way!

Chapter 276 276: Danger on the Way!

Liu Mingtao came to his senses and approached with a smile.

However, Qin Long was puzzled by his current expression. Has this kid not learned his lesson after our last encounter? Where does he get this confidence?

"Right, right. I should be respecting Young Master Qin," Liu Mingtao said, stopping in front of Qin Long. He gave a deliberate bow, his face a mask of feigned eagerness.

"Looking for trouble?" Qin Long's expression changed slightly as he glared at Liu Mingtao.

"No, no, no, I wouldn't dare," Liu Mingtao replied, a mocking sneer on his face. "It's just that things were a bit unpleasant between us last time. I was thinking, when can I treat Young Master Qin to a meal as an apology?"

"I don't have time," Qin Long said, ignoring him and starting to walk away on his crutch.

"You're busy, you're busy..." A hint of disdain touched the corners of Liu Mingtao's mouth as he coldly watched Qin Long's departing figure.

"Divine Doctor Liu, was that man a friend of yours?" a young man from the couple behind him asked with a smile.

"He's a big shot," Liu Mingtao said sarcastically, glancing in the direction Qin Long had gone. "Even Lu Mingze of the Longquan Grand Hotel is completely respectful to him."

"What big shot?" the young man scoffed. "Divine Doctor Liu, you're so young and already the project director at the Aixue Group. Why bother with such a small fry? I heard the Aixue Group has invested in the Longquan Grand Hotel. Now, wouldn't Lu Mingze have to bow and greet you respectfully when he sees you?"

Hearing their flattery, Liu Mingtao beamed. "Exactly. A small fry like him? Crushing him now would be as easy as squashing an ant."

He sneered, then wrapped his arm around the woman's waist and headed inside.

Back then, Qin Long had certainly shocked him; even Lu Mingze, the owner of the Longquan Grand Hotel, had been so respectful. But now, thanks to his family's connections, he had successfully landed a position at the Aixue Group. He was starting as a director, and with his skills, he was bound for a swift promotion. Crucially, the Aixue Group now had a stake in the Longquan Grand Hotel. In the future, Lu Mingze would have to act according to his whims. The Qin Long of today was nothing.

About to leave, Qin Long booked a ride-share online. A Toyota arrived after a few minutes, but there was already a female passenger in the back. Trying to get his crutch inside was a bit awkward.

As soon as he opened the door, an impatient voice called out from the back seat. "Hey, cripple! Can't you just wait for the next car? I'm in a hurry!"

The speaker was a beautiful young woman with fair skin, wearing a black bodycon skirt and a matching blazer. She was indeed a beauty, but she was glaring fiercely at Qin Long.

"Miss, he's having some trouble. Can't you just..." the middle-aged driver began, trying to help.

"I don't care! I can pay extra. Just make him get out," the young woman snapped, pointing a resentful finger at the driver.

"Sir, you two can go ahead," Qin Long said, not wanting to argue with her. He closed the door and prepared to leave. "I'll find another car."

"No, no, young man!" The middle-aged driver quickly got out of the car and grabbed Qin Long's arm to stop him. He then turned to the young woman, his tone now tinged with anger. "Young lady, you need to learn to be considerate of others. If you really have a problem with it, you can file a complaint against me later. I'll accept it. If all else fails, you can get out, and I'll waive your fee."

The man's straightforwardness left the young woman astonished. "You... What kind of thing is that to say? Do you think you're the only one with a heart? Besides, it's so dark out! How could you bear to leave a beautiful girl like me stranded on the street?" She stood up indignantly, shaking a fist at the driver in a mock threat.

"Then you're not afraid of him being stranded on the street?" the driver shot back. "Young people these days really have no compassion at all."

His comeback left the girl speechless.

"Fine! You're so noble, so impressive!" she huffed, throwing herself back across the rear seat to block Qin Long from getting in.

Left with no other choice, Qin Long went to the front passenger seat.

"Easy now, young man," the driver said, helping Qin Long get into the car.

"Thank you, sir." Qin Long gave the location of the Tang Family's courtyard, then leaned back and closed his eyes to rest.

The car started moving. It was already past nine in the evening, and the middle-aged driver was a steady hand at the wheel. In the back, the young woman sat with her arms crossed, pouting with dissatisfaction.

As they passed through a secluded country lane, the driver couldn't help but curse, "They built this road like a roller coaster!"

The Tang Family's courtyard was, after all, on the outskirts of Jiangzhong, in a rather remote area.

SWOOSH!

Suddenly, an unmarked white van shot out from the side, cutting off their car. The driver slammed on the brakes, sending both Qin Long and the young woman lurching into the side window.

"Hey! Watch how you're driving!" the girl yelled, rubbing her bruised face in annoyance.

The driver, looking just as bewildered, simply pointed ahead. The collision had damaged the headlights, rendering them useless, so he had to pull out a backup spotlight. The beam swept across the road, revealing seven or eight white vans blocking them from the front and back. Figures tattooed with tigers, leopards, snakes, and wolves climbed out, their faces twisted in mocking sneers as they stared at the car.

Seeing the grim situation, the driver briefly considered making a break for it down a small path to the left. He had just floored the accelerator and turned the wheel.

"Where do you think you're going?"

Suddenly, another white van on the path flashed its high beams, blocking their escape.

"What are they trying to do?" the girl in the back asked, her voice trembling with panic.

The middle-aged driver had no explanation; his expression was equally panicked. In over twenty years of driving, he had never encountered anything like this. A knot of tension tightened in his stomach.

Qin Long let out a slow yawn and glanced ahead, his expression turning icy. It seems someone is getting impatient.

"You two stay hidden in the car. I'll go have a look," the driver said, steeling himself to get out. "If I can't handle this, call the police. The second you get a chance to run, you take it."

"Uncle! Let this guy go!" the girl in the back seat suddenly shouted, glaring at Qin Long. "He's a grown man! Shouldn't he be protecting a weak girl like me right now?"

"He's crippled! He can barely take care of himself, so how is he supposed to protect you?" the driver retorted, giving her a piece of his mind.

"Well, who forced you to let him in the car in the first place?" she shot back. "If you hadn't picked him up, we wouldn't have taken this route, and none of this would be happening!" As she spoke, she stealthily tucked her bank card and necklace into an inconspicuous hiding spot.

"A little late for that," the driver muttered impatiently before getting out of the car.

"You call yourself a man? You can't even protect a girl. You deserve to be single forever," the girl continued to curse at Qin Long. "If I were you, I'd have found a hole to crawl into by now. What an embarrassment!"

While she was still ranting, Qin Long had already gotten out of the car. He walked to the rear door and looked inside at her.
