Chapter 239 239: 240
The entire place glittered with gold and splendor. The opulent decorations left Liu Xiaoyue and her friends stunned. The hotpot restaurant where Bai He had treated them seemed like a stinking ditch in comparison.
"Welcome to the Longquan Century Grand Hotel!"
"Good evening, sir. Do you have a reservation for a private room?" A manager with a beautiful figure walked over gracefully and addressed Liu Mingtao.
"I'm Liu Mingtao," he stated coolly.
"Ah, so it's Young Master Liu. Your private room is Number 8."
The manager wore a black form-fitting skirt, her legs clad in alluring black stockings.
"Alright." Liu Mingtao followed the manager forward. Suddenly, he caught sight of Qin Long leaning on a cane, and his expression filled with panic.
Qin Long, in contrast, looked completely at ease as he idly wandered nearby.
"Qin...?" The manager froze instantly.
"What is it?" Liu Mingtao frowned in confusion.
"It's nothing, Young Master Liu. I mistook him for someone else!" the manager quickly explained with a smile, resuming her lead.
Liu Mingtao sensed the staff had become even more attentive, but he didn't dwell on it. He simply felt proud to receive such treatment.
After showing the guests to their room, the manager hurried to the vice president's office.
"Are you sure you weren't mistaken? Young Master Qin is here with his classmates?" The female vice president shot to her feet in shock.
"Yes, Ma'am. I'm absolutely certain it was Young Master Qin," the manager affirmed with a firm nod.
The vice president's elegant brows furrowed. She touched her chin, lost in thought.
"I'll go serve them tea myself!" the manager decided, biting her lip.
"Wait!" the vice president called out. "Neither of us is worthy of serving Young Master Qin. Don't be rash!"
"The owner said that if Young Master Qin ever came, he would serve him personally!" She waved her hand helplessly; she had to inform the owner immediately.
"Ma'am, what should we do then?" the manager asked, her anxiety mounting.
"Stay calm. I'm contacting the owner now. In the meantime, you go and..." The vice president whispered a few instructions into the manager's ear before personally driving off to contact the owner.
「Meanwhile, in Private Room Number Eight.」
The private room was named the Taihu Pavilion. The interior was as exquisite as a painting. The floor was designed with a water pattern that created ripples with every step, giving the illusion of dining in the middle of Lake Tai itself. The unique decorations left them all speechless.
"This place is too extravagant!" Liu Xiaoyue and Bai He exclaimed in awe. "It's practically a palace on earth! No wonder the Emperor of Da Xia once dined here." Many in the group could only stand with their mouths agape, having never been to such a high-class establishment before.
Liu Xiaoyue even started recording a video to commemorate the occasion, seeing it as a perfect chance to show off later.
"Haha, the atmosphere here is decent, I suppose," Liu Mingtao said, rubbing his chin with a proud expression. "There are far more luxurious restaurants overseas."
Hearing Liu Mingtao endlessly praise everything foreign, Qin Long's expression subtly darkened. Back when he was the Heavenly Dragon, he had personally guarded the peace of Da Xia's Southern Region. To protect his people and his nation, his sword had cut down countless prodigies from enemy nations. As a result, he harbored a deep-seated aversion to foreign powers. Yet here was Liu Mingtao, a son of Da Xia, spouting nonsense about foreign strength and Da Xia's weakness. This fawning admiration for the foreign genuinely angered Qin Long.
Nevertheless, Qin Long suppressed the fire in his heart.
"Liu Mingtao, you study abroad for a few years and forget you're from Da Xia?" Jiang Tiantian was more direct, rolling her eyes as she rebuked him.
"Haha, how did you know Brother Tao is an overseas Chinese?" Bai He immediately chimed in with flattery.
Hearing this, Jiang Tiantian could only fall silent in exasperation.
"He's right. Your perspectives are too narrow. You all need to go abroad to see the world," Liu Mingtao said, shaking his head. He lit a cigar and added with a look of disdain, "To put it bluntly, even foreign farts smell fragrant."
His words were a grave insult to Da Xia.
Qin Long's face fell, and he could no longer hold back. "Sounds like you must have eaten quite a few of them over there," he retorted, looking at Liu Mingtao with a placid smile.
"At least I get to eat them. You wouldn't even get a sniff!" Though rage boiled in his heart, Liu Mingtao managed to restrain himself.
"See this designer watch on my wrist? This suit? They're all from overseas, leagues better than the trash they sell in this country!"
Liu Mingtao's arrogance began to irritate both Jiang Tiantian and Tang Xuewu. Bai He, however, was only interested in kissing up and couldn't care less about patriotism.
Anger was now clearly visible on Qin Long's face. He was a soldier. Even injured, his love for his country ran deep. Furthermore, many of his most trusted subordinates had died at the hands of foreign generals. Qin Long wouldn't generalize and hate all foreigners, but for Liu Mingtao, a son of Da Xia, to despise his own nation while lavishing praise on others—that was something Qin Long truly could not comprehend.
Qin Long took a calm sip of water. "You talk of nothing but what's overseas. Was it not Da Xia that raised you?" he asked, his words deliberate and firm. "Or did you spring forth from a stone? If you love it so much abroad, why didn't you stay there? Why come back?"
"You son of a—" Liu Mingtao slammed his glass on the table, shot to his feet with clenched fists, and glared furiously at Qin Long.
"You damned cripple, can't you just shut up and freeload in peace?"
"What, are you jealous I've been abroad? Feeling bitter, are we?"
"Someone like you could never reach my level, not even in your next life."
"I have no interest in reaching the level of an idiot," Qin Long replied with a faint smile. "However, the blood of powerful figures from overseas that stains my hands numbers well over ten thousand."
A stunned silence fell over the room. This cripple is an idiot. His brain must have been squeezed in a door! Killing over ten thousand people? Does he have any idea what that means? Does he think he's in a TV show?
"Haha, this cripple is certainly amusing," Liu Mingtao sneered, pouring himself a glass of red wine.
Just then, a knock came at the door.
"Who is it?" Liu Mingtao snapped, scowling at the door in annoyance.
The tall manager from before entered respectfully.
"Young Master Liu, and esteemed guests, I have just been informed by upper management that you are Supreme VIPs of the Longquan Grand Hotel. As such, we have prepared the Heavenly Immortal Pavilion, our most exclusive private room, for you. Please, follow me."
Everyone was taken aback by the manager's announcement. Liu Mingtao was momentarily stunned, but his expression quickly shifted to one of smug satisfaction.
"Haha! It seems your owner has some sense after all," Liu Mingtao boomed. "Come on, let's go to the Heavenly Immortal Pavilion."
It must be my status as an overseas Chinese that has earned me such deference from the owner of the Longquan Hotel here in Jiangzhong.
Seeing his chance, Bai He turned to mock Qin Long. "Did you see that, Qin Long? This is what you call status! You're so patriotic, but does your country care about you? Without Brother Tao, you wouldn't have even gotten through the front door. But by clinging to his coattails, you get to freeload at the city's finest hotel. Your ancestors must be smiling down on you!"
