He’s so Flirty

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Chapter 12  Helpful The school doctor gave Qin Qing a simple examination with a stethoscope and finally nodded.

“It is indeed heatstroke, but fortunately, it’s not severe. Here’s what you should do: take off your military training jacket to let your body temperature drop, and then rest here for a while.”

As the doctor spoke, they walked out of the examination room.

“I’ll go get you a couple of boxes of Huoxiang Zhengqi liquid. Remember to follow the instructions when you take it.”

“All right, thank you.”

Qin Qing, still feeling a bit dizzy, didn’t argue and obediently replied. She was about to unbutton her camouflage uniform jacket, but as soon as she raised her hand, a sharp pain shot through her palm, causing her to gasp involuntarily.

She looked down at her left palm.

Already slightly dried blood was smeared near the base of her thumb, and the wound stretched across her delicate palm, looking rather nasty.

Only then did Qin Qing remember that she had scraped her palms and knees when she fell earlier. But after being carried to the infirmary by Wen Yufeng, she had been so preoccupied with embarrassment and anger that she forgot about the pain.

Thinking of this, Qin Qing sneaked a glance at Wen Yufeng, feeling a bit apprehensive.

But as soon as she lifted her head, her eyes met his gaze—Wen Yufeng was staring intently at the bloody wound on her palm, his expression darkening, and his handsome brows furrowing.

Seeing his reaction, Qin Qing suddenly felt like a child who had caused trouble and was now facing a parent—wishing she could curl into a ball and quietly sneak away under his watchful eyes.

Before she could think of something to say, Wen Yufeng stepped forward with a serious expression.

He bent down, his handsome brows knitted together as he focused on the wound on her palm.

After a few seconds, his thin lips parted.

“Does it hurt?”

“…Huh?”

Qin Qing had expected a scolding from his stern demeanor and had already begun to feel a bit submissive without considering her position. But to her surprise, he only asked those two words, and his tone was even gentler than before.

It was as if he was afraid that speaking too harshly would cause her more pain.

Qin Qing hesitated for a moment before slowly shaking her head.

“It doesn’t hurt.”

Liar… Of course, it hurts.

Qin Qing lowered her eyes, feeling deflated.

“Thank you, Senior. I’m feeling much better now. I can handle it on my own later, so there’s no need to trouble you.”

“…”

Seeing the little rabbit dart away so quickly, looking as if she couldn’t avoid him fast enough—even though he knew he had brought this on himself—

Wen Yufeng still felt a twinge of frustration.

Along with that frustration, there was an inexplicable restlessness.

He stood up, grabbed a medical kit from a nearby shelf, and his gaze unconsciously deepened.

When he walked back to Qin Qing and stood before her, the corners of his lips lifted slightly.

“—What did you just call me?”

“…”

For some reason, this question made Qin Qing feel a bit uneasy.

She thought for a moment and then obediently replied.

“Thank you, Senior.”

Wen Yufeng narrowed his eyes slightly.

… Clever girl, she knows how to use words to block me.

Wen Yufeng opened the medical kit and took out a cotton swab and a bottle of iodine. He then pulled over a nearby medical trolley, opened the iodine bottle, and began laying out and preparing the items with practiced ease.

His movements were so smooth and proficient that Qin Qing couldn’t help but watch in amazement.

For some reason, she thought back to the version of Wen Yufeng she had seen at the mixed martial arts arena a few days ago—a side of him she wasn’t familiar with. She also recalled what her grandmother had said about his family.

It was as if a soft thorn pricked her heart—not enough to hurt, but leaving a faint, bitter aftertaste.

Qin Qing furrowed her delicate brows, and her pretty little face unintentionally tensed up.

By the time Wen Yufeng had finished setting up everything on the medical trolley, he reached out and gently took hold of Qin Qing’s wrist.

Qin Qing was startled and snapped back to reality, instinctively trying to pull away.

“Senior…”

“‘Senior’?”

Wen Yufeng leaned down, pausing in the middle of the movement, and then suddenly lifted his eyelids. His dark eyes gleamed under his long, thick lashes.

“That’s not what you called me earlier.”

As he spoke, the corners of his thin lips slowly curved into a smile, a hint of teasing emotion reflecting in his deep black eyes.

Qin Qing stared at the person so close to her, momentarily stunned.

She had to admit that, setting aside all matters of personality and behavior, the person in front of her was among the most attractive people she had ever seen—even among those with good looks.

Even at such close proximity, she couldn’t find a single flaw in his handsome face.

It was as if every curve and feature had been crafted to perfection, making one wonder how someone could be so favored by genetics.

“Hiss…”

Suddenly, Qin Qing gasped in pain, her thoughts abruptly yanked back to reality. She instinctively looked in the direction of the pain.

Tiny grains of sand were being gently wiped away from the wound with an iodine-soaked cotton swab, sending a sharp sting from the injury straight to her brain.

It was only after the pain subsided that Qin Qing realized—

—

She had just been staring at a boy’s face, so lost in thought that she hadn’t even noticed when he lowered his head to treat her wound.

“…”

Qin Qing’s cheeks belatedly began to heat up.

Wen Yufeng seemed oblivious, keeping his eyes down as he carefully held her left wrist, seriously applying the medicine.

When the wound was nearly treated, and he was down to the last cotton swab, he finally looked up with a lazy smile.

“Don’t call me ‘Senior’ anymore.”

Qin Qing, not understanding, asked instinctively, “Why?”

Wen Yufeng’s gaze deepened.

But he didn’t respond and instead glanced at the clock on the wall.

It had been about half an hour since he had taken her away. Given the pace of those people, the time should be just about right…

Wen Yufeng straightened up, putting away the medical supplies and cotton swabs on the trolley. Finally, he closed the medical kit and returned it to its original place.

“Rest well here. Leave the school directly at noon. I’ll take care of getting you excused from the military training.”

Hearing this, Qin Qing hesitated. When she looked up again, she saw that he was already near the door of the infirmary.

So she nodded.

“Thank you, sen—”

Before she could finish the word, the sudden, sharp look from him made Qin Qing swallow her words. Feeling a bit guilty, she puffed out her cheeks slightly.

Standing by the door, Wen Yufeng slowly withdrew his gaze from her, his eyes flickering for a moment.

Then he turned and walked out, closing the door behind him.

Just as the door was about to fully close, a faint, teasing voice drifted in from outside.

——

“Because I’m not interested in being your ‘Senior.'”

With a “click,” the door shut.

“…”

Inside the room, Qin Qing stared blankly at the closed door, then lowered her head to look at her palm.

She scrunched up her face, falling into another round of confusion.

……

When Wen Yufeng returned to the training area, he saw from a distance a group of instructors and the Dean, Sun Xing, standing together.

Among the instructors, two of them, upon spotting him, immediately looked furious.

Wen Yufeng walked over with his hands in his pockets, his lazy smile unwavering even as the instructors shot him hostile looks that were almost palpable.

It was break time, and the freshmen resting nearby, sensing the impending drama, suddenly felt their fatigue disappear. The boys no longer complained about being tired, and the girls didn’t mind the sun. One by one, they subtly directed their attention toward the scene.

At that moment, Sun Xing also spotted Wen Yufeng and immediately frowned.

He turned and quickly walked over to the boy.

“Wen Yufeng, why did you end up fighting with the instructors?”

“…”

Wen Yufeng’s lips curved into a slight smile as he glanced at the instructors, a sharp glint in his dark eyes.

After a few seconds, he slowly retracted his gaze, returning to his previously relaxed expression.

“Dean Sun, they were the ones who started it… not me.”

Sun Xing frowned, then replied, “But you’re still a student, and they’re instructors hired by the school. Technically, they’re also your mentors. No matter what, you shouldn’t have fought with your mentors, right?”

“Mentors?”

Wen Yufeng chuckled, the meaning unclear. “They might be instructors for the freshmen, but that doesn’t establish any student-mentor relationship with me. I’m not their recruit, so naturally, they don’t have the authority to discipline me.”

Sun Xing was about to argue further when a hearty laugh came from behind him.

“You’re right, you’re not our recruit.”

Recognizing the voice, Sun Xing quickly turned around.

“Oh, Colonel Wang, why did you come in person?”

The middle-aged man who had approached waved his hand with a smile, saying, “I couldn’t sit still after hearing that one of my handpicked soldiers was taken down by a student.”

Without further explanation, he turned directly to Wen Yufeng, his sharp eyes gleaming.

“Are you Wen Yufeng?”

That deliberate emphasis on “are” made Wen Yufeng’s gaze turn cold.

He looked up and met the man’s gaze.

After just a few seconds, Wen Yufeng got the answer he was looking for.

With that, the last hint of warmth in his smile vanished.

“…I’ll accept whatever punishment, whether it’s a demerit or probation.”

Wen Yufeng’s voice was calm as he spoke, then he turned to leave.

It was clear he didn’t want to spend another second with Colonel Wang.

Sun Xing awkwardly smiled, turning to the middle-aged man.

“Colonel Wang, please don’t take it to heart. The kid just has that kind of personality.”

“I don’t mind at all!”

The middle-aged man waved off the concern with a laugh. “This kid isn’t the most arrogant one in the Wen family. I’ve seen the one who’s even more unruly. There’s nothing here to mind.”

Sun Xing didn’t fully understand but knew better than to ask further, so he simply nodded along.

Just as they were about to return to the training area, they noticed that Wen Yufeng, who had just walked away, was coming back.

“I forgot something.”

Wen Yufeng stopped a few meters away from them and looked at Sun Xing.

“The girl I took earlier needs an excuse from military training. The school infirmary diagnosed her with heatstroke. If necessary, you can check the records later.”

Before Sun Xing could respond, the middle-aged man beside him spoke up with a smile.

“I heard about it. You fought with my two instructors for that girl, didn’t you?”

Sun Xing looked surprised, clearly unaware of this and turned to Wen Yufeng.

“…”

Wen Yufeng frowned slightly.

His nature was not to explain himself, but if he didn’t clarify now, Sun Xing might go on to bother Qin Qing…

With that thought, Wen Yufeng cast a cold glance at Colonel Wang.

“Is there a problem?”

Colonel Wang kept his smiling expression. “No problem. But what’s your relationship with that girl?”

Wen Yufeng’s gaze flickered.

“No relationship.”

This time, it was Sun Xing who spoke, looking utterly puzzled and slightly reproachful—

“Then why did you fight with the instructors for her?”

“…”

Hearing this, the corners of Wen Yufeng’s lips lifted, and his amber-like eyes glimmered.

“Can’t a guy just be helpful?”
