Chapter 47 Hasegawa Detective Agency
Chapter 47 Hasegawa Detective Agency
Tsukishima is located on the north shore of Tokyo Bay at the mouth of the Sumida River. It is an artificial island formed by land reclamation and belongs to Chuo Ward, Tokyo. It has a small total area of only about 2.279 square kilometers and a population of about 15,000.
It can be divided into four areas: Ichiji, Tsukishima, Katsuhiko, and Harumi. Ichiji is the core area of Tsukishima, encompassing the commercially prosperous 1-chome to 4-chome, and is also home to Tsukishima Academy, a nationally renowned high school.
Lin Xiuyi transferred to Tsukishima Academy, and his usual work and life took place in the nearby Kachigo.
A two-story building bearing the sign "Hasegawa Detective Agency" stands in the heart of Kachiko, sandwiched between two izakayas with distinctly different styles.
He was carrying a bag containing his personal belongings when he watched Hasegawa Eri stand in front of her house, rummaging through her bag for ages.
"Huh? Where did the keys go?"
"..."
"Found it!"
Hasegawa finally pulled a shiny silver key out of his bag, immediately inserted it into the keyhole, turned it left and right and found that it wouldn't turn, so he tried harder.
So half of the key broke off inside the keyhole.
"Oh no, Master, this looks like the key from before we changed the locks!"
The woman looked at the key in her hand, now only the handle, with a look that brought her to tears.
"Is no one in the office?"
"No."
"Then move aside."
Helpless, Lin Xiuyi produced a wire from his palm and squeezed it through the gap where the key hadn't fully occupied, and the door opened.
The "100% Successful Lock Pick" has become his most frequently used tool. Unless a scientific paper proves that a fool's intelligence can actually improve, he needs an upgraded lock pick that can be used an unlimited number of times. Otherwise, he'll have to spend 10 points every now and then to enter the agency.
Turn on the lights to illuminate the room.
The office scene that comes into view has a nostalgic feel and can be roughly divided into three areas: a rest area for receiving guests, an office area for handling matters, and a storage area for various files.
With only two or three office cubicles, it's clear that the firm is quite small, which is rather in line with the level of the idiot next to him.
How did this woman become one of the world's top 100 detectives?
Lin Xiuyi couldn't help but ponder deeply.
"Alright, alright, the first floor is so boring, let's go upstairs, that's where my home is."
Hasegawa Eri acted like a high school student inviting a classmate over to play, dragging Hayashi Shuichi up the stairs behind the storage area.
The first floor is the studio, and the second floor is Hasegawa's home. From now on, Lin Xiuyi will also live here and has been assigned to an unused living room.
Although it can't compare to the apartment where I stayed with Isshiki Kin a while ago, it's still far superior to Doya in Kotobuki-cho.
"This used to be my dad's room, you can stay here for now."
"Your father..."
Lin Xiuyi suddenly sensed that something was wrong.
"Yes, but he passed away early—let's not talk about sad things. Today I received the final payment entrusted to me by Grandpa Keijiro, so it's a day worth celebrating!"
Lin Xiuyi, who had just put down the bag, was pulled to what looked like a restaurant and sat down at a table.
Eri Hasegawa then ran to open the refrigerator, took out bottle after bottle of beer, and excitedly placed them on the table.
"Come on, let's drink to our hearts' content and celebrate!"
She then took out two cups and placed one in front of herself and one in front of Lin Xiuyi.
Lin Xiuyi had seen drunkards before, and found her excited appearance somewhat exaggerated and strange.
"Hey, let me make this clear first, I'm not drinking."
"I just can't do anything with you, Shuichi-kun," Eri Hasegawa mocked without hesitation. "So you can only drink juice then? Oh dear, only little kids drink juice."
The woman was inexplicably pleased. She took another bottle of orange juice from the refrigerator and gave it to Lin Xiuyi. Then, she skillfully pried open a beer bottle with a bottle opener and poured herself a full glass.
"Cheers!"
Hasegawa and Hayashi Hideichi clinked glasses.
Lin Xiuyi watched as she downed the beer in her glass in one gulp, and when she put it down, her face was flushed.
"This is so awesome!"
A scream is inserted into the epilogue.
That's outrageous! What's wrong with this woman?
Lin Xiuyi put down her glass of juice and watched with some concern as the woman across the table drank another glass of wine.
"Hiccup." She hiccuped after only two drinks, and her face turned completely red.
"You can't hold your liquor, can you? Don't drink anymore."
"No—I want to drink it!"
Hasegawa's speech was off-key, but he insisted on picking up the half-empty bottle and chugging it down his throat.
Oh no, this woman is completely drunk. Lin Xiu sensed something was wrong and quickly went over to pull the bottle out of the woman's mouth.
But the intoxication and drunkenness were irreversible. Without any more alcohol, Hasegawa Eri simply clung to him, opening her arms and clinging to him like a sloth hugging a tree.
"Xiuyi, I'm a woman with a tragic fate, please take me in..."
Hasegawa suddenly buried his head in Lin Xiuyi's chest, wiping away snot and tears.
"Take me away! I never want to stay here again. Being a detective is so hard!"
Lin Xiuyi struggled to pull her off him little by little.
Hasegawa clung even tighter, practically transforming from a sloth into a python.
Was she doing it on purpose? She clearly can't drink alcohol, yet she still drinks... How could someone with such a low alcohol tolerance possibly store so much alcohol in the refrigerator?
Lin Xiu resisted while pondering the situation.
He didn't want Hasegawa to get hurt, so he didn't struggle too much, just maintaining a stalemate. He had the advantage in stamina, and as long as the woman ran out of strength, he could end this farce without any real danger.
Hasegawa Eri suddenly raised her burning face, pouted, and leaned close to his face.
Lin Xiuyi immediately turned her head, but she couldn't stop the other party from climbing up step by step and gradually approaching.
For the first time in his life, he felt terrified, and the lingering smell of alcohol from the woman's lips made him feel dizzy and feverish...
The door leading from the living room to the first floor was suddenly flung open.
"Eri, get out here! You broke the lock again, didn't you?!"
A woman's angry roar rang out.
Hearing the commotion in the restaurant, she went straight there and saw Eri Hasegawa drunkenly clinging to Hideaki Hayashi. Veins bulged on her forehead.
……
"Let me formally introduce myself. I am Misato Hasegawa, and I am Eri's older sister."
A smart woman in a suit and trousers, holding a cup of tea, sat on the sofa opposite.
"My name is Lin Xiuyi. Nice to meet you."
"That silly girl told me about you, and the video of you presenting evidence at school went viral online recently, I saw it too. As a detective, your abilities are undoubtedly outstanding."
Misato Hasegawa put down her tea and moved a work contract from the table in front of Hideaki Hayashi.
"But that silly girl didn't tell you she has an older sister, did she? She's such a willful and reckless girl."
Feeling tired, she rubbed the bridge of her nose between her eyes with her hand.
"So you're the world's number one hundred detective? To be honest, your appearance has resolved a lot of my doubts."
Lin Xiuyi checked the contract terms and found no problems, so she picked up a pen and signed her name on the contract.
Misato Hasegawa nodded, stood up, and extended her hand.
"Well then, welcome to the agency, young man."
Lin Xiuyi shook hands with him.

Book Cutting Statement:
I wrote such a terrible piece of writing that I'm not going to continue. I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time.
Many of you probably enjoyed the pranks at the beginning of the book. I actually wanted to write about pranks myself, since that was the initial inspiration for this book. You might be looking for a story where the protagonist is constantly playing pranks, but unfortunately, that's difficult to write. My writing skills are limited, and I can't consistently produce a variety of funny and quirky pranks. Therefore, this book can't be a slice-of-life story. Instead, there will definitely be a main plot, with the storyline and events gradually escalating. For example, it might start with a prank involving pretending to be a bear to scare people, but progress to infiltrating a bear pack and using a cheat-like ability to control the bears to fight against humans.
I think those kinds of stories are quite interesting.
In my original outline, the protagonist was supposed to fight evil with evil, escalating from pranks to crimes. While using his detective identity to entangle himself with the police and other famous detectives, he secretly carried out various murder plans in the name of God. He even used "divine blood" to turn some animals (like the silly roe deer mentioned several times in the story) into humans, making them loyal, super-powered subordinates. Under surveillance, he used these inhuman subordinates to kill people, until finally eradicating all the bad conditions in his small life and society.
As for the protagonist's character design, he should be a high school student who has a sense of justice and a mentality of using any means to achieve his goals, and who always remains calm and ruthless. The female leads are completely tools that he uses and manipulates (hahaha, that's really how I originally planned to write it). For example, Isshiki Jin (the second female lead) is actually the eldest daughter of a wealthy family. Her parents are dead, and she has a brother who is very capable but resents her being out of his control and even sends assassins to kill her (the book has already written about the assassins). The protagonist kills his brother and then uses Isshiki Jin to rise to power and control the wealthy family. There is also Sakai Shiori (the third female lead), whose family is a political family. Her grandfather is the prime minister and her father is the National Superintendent General of Police. Her whole family is busy dealing with the protagonist, but she secretly worships "God". Later, the protagonist discovers this and uses her, so she willingly helps to kill her corrupt grandfather and father, allowing "God", who is in crisis, to turn the tide.
Can you guess who the real female lead is? It's actually QED, the world's number one detective who has only been revealed by codename so far, and also the biggest villain in the book. The villain here doesn't refer to any specific evil deeds she commits, but rather her resistance to the crimes of "God," her suspicion of the protagonist, and her constant attempts to find evidence that the protagonist is "God." Therefore, she's the villain standing opposite the protagonist. The protagonist will openly cooperate with her while secretly opposing her, repeatedly pulling in and out of the relationship, while simultaneously developing feelings for her, ultimately using those feelings to imprison her.
Many people might not want to read romance, but if the romance is all about the satisfying moments of a scumbag, then it's somewhat interesting. What I've written here, just whatever comes to mind, is undeniably cheesy and boring. However, this is, after all, a Tokyo fantasy. Who has ever seen a Tokyo fantasy without a female lead and no romance? I should mention that I initially selected three tags for this book: [Romance], [Multiple Female Leads], and [Scandalous Scene], but due to system glitches or inaccurate review, none of them were added, leading to a large group of readers with inaccurate expectations.
I've said so much about what I wanted to write, but it's no use, because the reviewers and editors won't allow me to write the main plot as a crime. This book initially wouldn't have passed the review because it was accused of "inciting conflict between two countries" and "possibly having anti-humanitarian tendencies." I had to get the editor who approved it to talk to the reviewers before it was finally approved.
This book was submitted to two editors. The first one rejected it immediately after looking at my outline, while the second one didn't require me to see the outline, so it passed by luck.
But I couldn't write what I wanted to write according to the original outline. However, since the draft had been approved, I started writing with a try-it-out mentality, writing whatever came to mind every day. As expected, it flopped.
I can't write anymore now because my writing is terrible and my grades are really bad.
I don't want to rely on perfect attendance, and recently, I've been struggling with the A-level cutoff line and have had new inspiration. I'm thinking of writing a new book that combines Western fantasy, which should be quite interesting. So I won't be writing this one.
Goodbye!
