Chapter 20 I Must Live
Chapter 20 I Must Live
Lin Xiuyi pulled Yise Jin back, who was about to walk forward.
"It's not over yet."
He heard the roar of motorcycles cutting through the police sirens as they sped towards him.
The man in the restroom was incapacitated, but the mission hadn't been completed, meaning the assassination attempt on Isshiki Kureha wasn't over. The motorcyclist currently on his way was most likely up to no good.
"But the police have already arrived, haven't they, Shuichi?"
Isshiki Kin turned around in surprise, but the next moment she was forcibly picked up by Lin Xiuyi. "Wait, don't..."
"So, we should hurry up and find another way out."
Lin Xiuyi looked around, recalling the road she had come from.
Returning the way you came is too risky, and while going forward is closer to the park exit, it's in the same direction as the police and would likely lead you into their search area. The best approach is to walk on the grassy areas on either side, using the trees for cover and to avoid the motorcycles, so you can reach the police car while they are searching aimlessly.
After quickly finishing his thought, he picked up Isshiki Kim, who had stopped struggling, and ran into the grass by the roadside.
The motorcycle was very fast, and it arrived near them in just over ten seconds, speeding along the park road just as Lin Xiuyi had predicted.
Lin Xiuyi stopped and put the girl in his arms down. The two remained silent, hiding behind the bushes, waiting for the other to pass them before continuing on.
They could all see the motorcycle headlights flashing past the bushes where they were hiding.
"Let's go."
Lin Xiuyi took Ise Jin's hand and stood up.
The forest was difficult to traverse, with too many bushes and branches, and he couldn't carry her any longer; it was more efficient for Isshiki to walk on her own. However, at this point, there was no need to worry about motorcycles speeding into this area from the opposite direction.
However, after walking only ten steps, Lin Xiuyi heard the roaring sound that had just passed approaching them again at high speed.
"We've been spotted! Run!"
He was certain that the other party was not bluffing, but genuinely knew their location.
Without time to consider how the other person did it, he pulled Isejin forward. Lin Xiuyi ran ahead, using his hands to break tree branches and forcefully carving a path through the bushes with his own body, until they reached a grassy area.
"Hey, what are you two doing!"
Warning sounds rang out from the roadside.
Three men stood there, and judging from their attire, they were undoubtedly police officers conducting a search. The three officers immediately looked over nervously, and the one who had shouted even pointed his gun at them.
This situation, ironically, made the two being chased feel like they had been saved.
Lin Xiuyi immediately shielded Yishi Jin behind her, raising her hands to identify herself: "We are the victims; she's the one who called the police!"
"Put the gun down..." The lead officer immediately pulled his colleague's gun down. "You're students, right? Where is the armed robber the police reported?"
"He has already been subdued in the park's restrooms, but there is a high possibility that he still has an accomplice on a motorcycle, so please be careful."
Lin Xiuyi kept it brief. He didn't know if the guy on the motorcycle also had a gun; if he did, the danger was even greater.
"What did you say? You were subdued?"
The lead policeman looked on in astonishment.
"The motorcycle is back!"
Another policeman saw the lights come on after the road corner.
Lin Xiu immediately sensed something was wrong and pulled Ise Jin further away from the road.
The motorcycle didn't keep them waiting long before revealing its true form—a heavily stylized CB400 with an exaggeratedly upturned, elongated pig-head grille and a body painted with extremely bright and gorgeous flame and thundercloud paint.
A man dressed in special forces uniform sat in the car, his face obscured by a helmet. He twisted the handlebars, floored the accelerator, and sped towards the road. Only Lin Xiuyi noticed the black metal box he was holding in his other hand.
The noise of the locomotive blasted straight into the ears of people located in this straight line.
"Hey, stop the car now!"
The police shouted and hastily raised their guns at the motorcycle.
"Final warning, we're about to open fire!"
The lead policeman said with a look of horror.
The motorcyclist raised the metal box in his hand.
Lin Xiuyi finally saw it clearly—the bottom of the iron box was actually extended, and there was a small opening in the front, resembling the magazine and muzzle of a gun. As if to verify his guess, the small opening spewed out sparks the next moment, the sound so loud that it temporarily drowned out the car engine.
Countless red light fragments were scattered out in an instant.
Three policemen were riddled with bullets from submachine guns that suddenly slammed into their faces, dying without firing a single shot. Their perforated faces still bore the look of shock and bewilderment they had before death.
The driver skillfully sped through the gap between the first two bodies on his motorcycle, then kicked the third, still-standing policeman's body, to the ground.
Within seconds, the three policemen who had just spoken to Lin Xiuyi were all killed.
"Ah, ah..."
Isshiki Kin let out a meaningless scream, and had no objection to Lin Xiuyi picking her up again.
Despite the same fear, driven by the will to survive, Lin Xiu gritted her teeth and maintained her rational judgment.
The motorcycle would take some time to turn around, so he seized the opportunity, grabbed Isshiki Jin, and ran into the bushes they had just emerged from.
A person with fully automatic weapons who dares to charge at the police and riddle them with bullets is definitely a madman. Who is behind this, trying to kill Isshiki Kin?
There's no way to hide; that person clearly has methods of tracking. The only option is for him to step forward and attract their attention.
Lin Xiu then shoved Yi Se Jin behind an inconspicuous rock and continued her escape.
The motorcycle drove straight in, its powerful engine sending branches flying. The rider's skill was so exceptional that he completely bypassed the major obstacles, charging towards Lin Xiuyi almost unimpeded.
Since the other party had a gun, Lin Xiuyi had to be constantly aware of the possibility that the driver might fire.
Sure enough, the other side caught up after a short run and raised their submachine guns.
Lin Xiuyi had been watching intently. He quickly dove to the ground, a burst of bullets passing over his head, but his sense of danger didn't diminish at all. He immediately rolled to the side. The next moment, the motorcycle sped past where he had just fallen. The wheels seemed to graz his face, and the hot exhaust fumes rushed into his lungs, forcing him to cough.
Lin Xiuyi coughed until tears welled up in his eyes. He had just stood up when he suddenly realized that the sound of the motorcycle engine had stopped. After wiping away his tears, he was shocked to find that the other person was actually parked not far in front of him, turning around casually on the motorcycle and pointing the submachine gun at him.
Just when he thought it was all over, the other person pulled the trigger, but then let out a woman's hearty laughter: "Hahahaha, out of bullets."
She tossed the gun aside, quickly resumed her sitting position, twisted the accelerator, and drove forward again.
—It was a woman!
—He really is a madman!
Although Lin Xiuyi was not killed by the bullet, he did not believe that the madman would give up and leave him and Yise Jin.
She's just going to go around in circles and come back.
Perhaps, Lin Xiuyi's remaining life was just a meaningless extension of a short period of time.
"...But I must live on."
Lin Xiuyi's lungs were still uncomfortable, and she took out her phone while coughing.
He remembered that he still had an uncertain trump card that he hadn't played yet.
Tears continued to flow uncontrollably, dripping onto the screen. Lin Xiu opened the app store and selected to download the free software called "TRYHARD".
The madman's high-heeled leather boots landed in the muddy ground, forming a circle that caused the slowing motorcycle to quickly complete a U-turn.
After the software was downloaded and installed, Lin Xiu opened it, skipping all the instructions.
The madman pulled a steel pipe from a bag next to the motorcycle, waved it in his hand, and found it quite comfortable to handle.
Lin Xiuyi clicked the only "Confirm" button visible to his naked eye in the entire "TRYHARD" app. In an instant, a sharp pain inside his body made him release his phone, tilt his head back, and saliva uncontrollably sprayed out of his mouth.
"Kid, are you ready to die?!" The crazy woman on the motorcycle raised the front of the motorcycle so high it was almost flying, laughing maniacally as if she were about to reach climax. She rushed in front of Lin Xiuyi, and the wheels and steel pipes were almost touching his face.
"...?"
A single punch shattered the madman's helmet before it could even finish.
The motorcycle really took off.
