Harem Lord System: Post Apocalyptic World

Chapter 88: Vulture

Chapter 88: Vulture

"Hahh... you are just too slow and don’t worry about my endurance, it’s beyond your imagination..." Lukas didn’t mince his words, there was a reason he wanted to go alone.

"At least try to be a gentleman and don’t be so harsh with your words..." Leah pouted slightly.

Lukas looked at her with an amused expression, "Miss, we aren’t on a date..."

Leah got flabbergasted before she pouted while sticking her tongue out, "Humph! That’s a rude thing to say..."

Lukas just waved his hand, "Yeah, yeah... now speed up or I will just leave you behind..."

...

After a few minutes later, they were on the edge of a cliff where a small pond existed just below them, about twenty meters or so...

They had come here since they had heard the sound of a skirmish just now...

The scene was a little disheartening, a deer with long antlers which seemed to be a normal beast was bitten by a crocodile which was a dead walker...

"Sigh... it’s a rare sight to see an evolved beast these days and it’s the end for it too..." Leah shook her head while speaking in a hushed voice.

She was sulking inwardly slightly, Lukas hadn’t slowed down at all, in fact, he had increased his pace, making her exhausted through and through...

The deer had lost a lot of blood and even if they killed the crocodile now, it wouldn’t survive.

"That’s the wilderness..." Lukas took out his bow and attacked...

The arrow pierced through the head of the crocodile before blasting off. It was enough to tell Lukas that the crocodile was level two.

The deer also seemed to be a similar level so that was two crystals for him. This was the start of his hunting.

Leah was surprised by the attack and the shimmering arrow, "That bow is quite good, level 3?"

"Yeah," Lukas nodded, although it was low since it was just level two. He had even made sure to attack at the strength of level two.

"There is no drop, what shitty luck..." Leah shook her head.

"Well, level difference decreases the drop rate, not to mention... it’s already rare to have drops in the first place..." Lukas looked at the vine beside him and used it to slide down.

Leah’s eyes opened slightly, "Really?" She followed him.

She didn’t know that the drop rate was affected by that.

Lukas sighed, "Yes, it’s true, there are various other factors influencing it too..."

Lukas explained it slightly and Leah was amazed.

"So basically, fighting in a team decreases the overall quality and quantity of drops..." Leah sighed in lament.

Even though she understood it, she would still have a team to fight alongside her as it would be too dangerous to do so alone, not to mention she couldn’t even do much since she didn’t have any skills, "Where did you learn these things? Knowledge stone?"

"Yes." Lukas nodded.

"So last time when you were calling them zombies, it was on purpose?" Leah raised her eyebrows.

Lukas shrugged, "Totally, I wanted to look weak and vulnerable..."

"Wow..." Leah shook her head in amusement.

"SCREEEEEE..."

Their conversation was interrupted by a loud screech and both of them looked up instantly...

"Holy fuck..." Leah wasn’t able to hold herself back from cursing.

Lukas also became a little vigilant, the vulture circling above their heads was far bigger than even this crocodile, "A level three..."

Leah didn’t doubt that one bit, "What is a level three beast doing here?"

They were still not too deep inside so it was a bit concerning to encounter a level three corrupted beast.

"Look at all that blood... given a vulture’s senses, it isn’t hard for it to come here for a free meal... now be prepared because its eyes are definitely on us..."

Lukas pulled the string and waited for the right moment. After using the bow for so long, he was quite confident in his aim but the problem was the speed of the vulture.

As a level three flying beast, it would be anything but slow when it finally decided to attack...

Thankfully, it was a vulture which wasn’t known for its speed.

Leah immediately took cover beside a tree so that the vulture couldn’t swoop on her directly as she was too powerless to deal with it...

Lukas didn’t pay her any attention, his eyes were totally fixed on the vulture, he didn’t want to miss his shot which would earn him a level three crystal.

The vulture, as expected, didn’t care about the free food instead it paid attention to Lukas who was in the open, it didn’t like another living being present near its food, much less if it was prey itself.

"SCREEEEE..."

One more screech and finally the vulture swooped down...

Lukas squinted his eyes slightly while pulling the bow to its last stretch...

The vulture was fast, too fast to be called a vulture but given the fact that it was also quite big made Lukas’ work easier...

He didn’t have to aim much, all he needed was to make sure that the arrow hit somewhere, it didn’t matter even if it was just the wing... when he felt that his aim was perfect, he let go of the arrow.

Shushhh!

The vulture wasn’t able to perceive the danger it was heading towards, when it saw the arrow coming towards it, it instinctively tried to dodge but given the speed of the arrow along with its own, it failed to do so and the arrow hit its left wing joint...

BOOOOOMMM!

Lukas hadn’t held back much while attacking and that attack was enough to obliterate half of the vulture’s body which was just a bird with no defense...

Leah’s eyes widened as she saw the impact from the attack. She looked at the bow with newfound fear...

It seemed the bow wasn’t just good, it was beyond her imagination. There was no way that thing was lower than rare tier...

She really felt a little envious of Lukas but she shook it off.
