Guarding the River of Time

Chapter 446 - 436: World-Honored One Wanqing and Divine Venerable Dao Inference

Chapter 446 - 436: World-Honored One Wanqing and Divine Venerable Dao Inference

.....

A series of recent events have mostly been targeted at me.

Although, over the years of guarding the river, I’ve met many Cross River Men, and I remember them all, I haven’t really made any enemies with them.

At most, I’d just collect a bit of crossing fees. Su Mu’s standards weren’t high; as long as you offered something, showed a bit of sincerity, Su Mu basically wouldn’t make things difficult, he’d let you pass, and sometimes even have the Little Tiger Whale help ferry them, everything in a peaceful manner.

Of course, there were people who came to the river to fight and cause trouble, but Su Mu mostly just mediated the fights and didn’t really go all out to eliminate anyone, unless they were after him specifically, then he’d retaliate fiercely.

Whether they were just crossing normally or causing trouble, Su Mu remembered them all.

But the recent enemies I’ve encountered, I don’t know any of them. I don’t recognize them at all, and I can’t figure out why they’re determined to kill me.

Every time I ask, they say my existence is a hindrance to them.

But how the hell am I a hindrance to them?

I’m just minding my own business, guarding my own river, who am I bothering?

I really can’t understand it.

And then there’s this mysterious old man, who treated me as a "Great Medicine" the moment we met, which left Su Mu utterly confused.

Are he and that man in the Daoist robe not on the same side?

One starts fighting as soon as he arrives, the other starts giving as soon as he arrives.

.....

At this moment, in a certain Chaos Space.

The Chaotic Human Shadow sensed something and abruptly opened his eyes, a look of anger on his face.

With his changing emotions, the surrounding void began to twist, strands of Flowing Light of Law constantly emerging around him, continuously shattering.....

He was furious to the extreme.

"Good, good, good!"

"Very good!"

He sensed that his good junior apprentice nephew, and good junior nephew had not fled, but actually voluntarily allowed Su Mu to refine them!

The "World-Honored One Wanqing" willingly being refined, he could understand, thinking it was to repay him or seek revenge.

But "Divine Venerable Dao Inference," who had been following him for so many years, his good junior nephew, failing to Su Mu yet also willingly being refined by him, he couldn’t comprehend it, completely clueless.

Five Innate Yin Yang Origins, in a short amount of time, Su Mu had refined two of them, and they were even delivered from his side.

Why?

Why would they do this?

No matter how he puzzled over it, he couldn’t figure out the answer.

.......

Over the next week or so, Su Mu, like before, patrolled the river as usual.

He also re-established seven or eight "pollution base points" to make up for the losses.

What frustrated Su Mu was his increasingly poor luck lately, by the end of each day, only gaining one or two thousand Favor Points, and on particularly bad days, only eight hundred.

.....

On this day, early in the morning.

"Nannan, come here."

Su Mu called over to Nannan, who was quietly reading.

Hearing his words, Nannan put down the book in her hands and trotted over to Su Mu: "Daddy, what’s the matter?"

"Daddy’s taking you to a fun place." Su Mu, feeling a bit curious and wanting to inquire about something, also wanted to take Nannan out to have some fun.

"What kind of place is it?"

"Are we going to catch fish, Daddy?"

Nannan’s eyes sparkled with delight and excitement.

"No, I’m taking you to a place you’ve never been to before." Su Mu ruffled Nannan’s hair, smiling as he spoke.

......

Su Mu led Nannan to the riverbank, waved his hand, and a black ship appeared on the water’s surface in front of them.

Upon closer inspection, even though the black ship was floating on the water, its hull did not sink at all, as if it was lightly "floating" upon the surface.

When they both stepped onto the black ship, the hull still did not sink even a bit, continuing to "float" on the water surface.

....

With a thought from Su Mu, the black ship began to slowly move forward, its pace very slow, yet the surrounding scenery changed rapidly.

Soon, the scenery around them changed, and the black ship navigated onto a new river channel, which was narrow and just barely allowed the ship to pass. The black water was dark and the surrounding environment was nothingness.

A few breaths later, an exit appeared ahead.

Upon going through the exit, the lively and bustling noises around them filled the air.

The black ship appeared on a small river within Reincarnation City.

Looking at the towering Ancient City around them, Su Mu showed a look of surprise; the black ship given by Lady Houtu was indeed extraordinary.

It completely ignored the law to arrive here.

.....

Meanwhile.

Outside a certain mansion in Reincarnation Ancient City, a group of people stood anxiously, their expressions tense.

"May I ask, is Lord Du finished?" The leader of the group, a dignified man clad in a Purple Gold Robe, cautiously asked a masked man in front of them.

Though the masked man was just a servant, he worked for Lord Du. You must respect the owner when beating a dog; this wasn’t an ordinary dog, it was the Howling Celestial Dog!

.....

"Hall Master Huang, Lord Du is still attending to business, please wait a moment." The masked man looked at the group, speaking calmly: "You seem anxious."

Upon hearing this, the man in the Purple Gold Robe quickly waved his hand: "Not anxious, not at all, Lord Du’s business is the priority. We can wait as long as needed."

"Very well, then wait patiently until Lord Du calls for you." With that said, the masked man turned and left, not bothering to arrange a place for them to sit.

Due to the sheer number of people seeking an audience with Lord Du, it was impossible to provide accommodations or seating for everyone.

.....

And so, some people stood outside the mansion.

Not only them, but there was also a large crowd surrounding them, roughly a hundred people, every one of them being a notable figure from various realms, yet here they stood obediently outside, waiting.

"Master, this is a matter of significant importance, concerning the survival of our Seven Great Realms. If we continue to wait, I fear..." whispered a gaunt man next to the Purple Gold Robe man.

Upon hearing this, the Purple Gold Robe man glared at him, "Shut up!"

This place wasn’t ordinary, and the person they were to meet wasn’t ordinary either. He was one of the Five Emperors of the Reincarnation Realm, the Southern Ghost Emperor, Du Ziren!

The Reincarnation Realm, governing the complete cycle of life and death of All Heavens. The status of the Five Emperors is extraordinarily noble!

....

On the ancient building above, the second level.

At an ancient long wooden table, a dignified man sat on a precious creature’s chair, holding a black-gold ancient pen, marking the report documents in front of him.

"Come in."

Du Ziren looked up, looking towards the door.

In the next moment, a masked man slowly walked in: "Report, Master, many people are already waiting outside."

Du Ziren rubbed his temples, feeling a bit weary: "Let’s go, I should meet them."

Suddenly, he sensed a certain presence and stood up abruptly, heading outside the door.

Seeing this, the masked man was taken aback: "Master, where are you going?"
