Chapter 127: The Flying Flowers of July, Another Crystal Flower
Chapter 127: The Flying Flowers of July, Another Crystal Flower
For a while, Li Wei didn’t leave the Mage Tower.
He holed up in the Mage Tower, researching Basic Level Alchemy and refining his Fireball Skill.
When he got bored, he would also work on the Invisibility Armor Spell and cultivate his Object Control Skill and Illusion Technique.
On the third day after Li Wei returned to the Mage Tower, Gu Ze and Rota came back as well.
Neither of them were injured; they had just been trapped underground for over a day.
The two times Li Wei had gotten lost underground, he’d managed to find an exit quickly. It seemed he was just lucky.
In the blink of an eye, June passed.
The first day of July.
Jimmy came looking for Li Wei to deliver his royalties.
If he hadn’t seen Jimmy, Li Wei wouldn’t have even realized a whole month had passed.
Jimmy arrived carrying a small box.
"Li Wei, sir, these are last month’s royalties."
Li Wei stared in surprise at the box he was carrying. "How much is there? Does it really need a box?"
Jimmy smiled. "The payment from the Treasure Basin Commerce Association came in. There’s also some fan mail for you."
"Ah." Li Wei understood. So that was why.
Li Wei took the box. It felt surprisingly heavy.
He immediately handed it to his Shadow Attendant.
Jimmy asked, "Li Wei, sir, is the manuscript for June finished?"
Li Wei felt a pang of embarrassment. He had completely forgotten about it.
He’d been so busy with his cultivation this month that he’d lost all track of time, completely forgetting he even had a manuscript to write.
"Um, I’ll get it to you in a few days," Li Wei said. "I’ll include July’s manuscript with it."
Jimmy replied with resignation, "Please finish it as soon as you can, Li Wei, sir. Otherwise, it won’t be ready for next month’s publication."
"Right, right. Of course."
After seeing Jimmy out, Li Wei returned to his study.
The Shadow Attendant had already placed the box on his desk.
He opened the box. Inside was a money pouch and a pile of letters.
"Hm? Another Crystal Flower."
A look of surprise crossed Li Wei’s face as he picked up one of the letters from the box.
This time, the Crystal Flower was pinned directly to the letter’s seal, as if the sender was afraid Li Wei might overlook it.
"Shadow Attendant, bring me the Crystal Flower from the bottom-left drawer of the wardrobe."
The Shadow Attendant brought the Crystal Flower to Li Wei.
He compared the two and found they were identical. They must have come from the same person.
He opened the letter. The contents were similar to the last one.
It said that the sender had been waiting for his reply for so long that they were growing anxious.
The sender hoped he would bring the Crystal Flower to Flying Flower City to meet them.
Li Wei found it strange. ’Why does this person keep wanting me to go and see them?’
’If they’re a fan, they should be the one to come find me. What kind of idol goes looking for their fans?’
He set the Crystal Flower aside and ignored it.
He read through the rest of the letters as well.
It was a way to pass the time and relieve the fatigue from his long hours of cultivation.
The letters were varied. Some were from admirers, some were full of curses, and others demanded he revise the plot to make it more reasonable.
Li Wei shook his head. ’Good thing I’m anonymous. Otherwise, I’d probably get jumped the moment I stepped outside.’
To this day, the Xinghuo Literature Society had not revealed the true identity of the author of *Dragon Knight*.
Some also complained that the recent story arcs had been boring and lacked excitement.
After reading this, Li Wei found the collector’s edition of *Dragon Knight* that Jimmy had given him.
Reviewing the story, he had to admit that the plot over the last few months had indeed grown a bit dull.
It was mainly because he’d been too busy with his cultivation to brainstorm any explosive new plot points.
He looked at the title of the book, and a slight smile touched his lips.
’It’s time for the Dragon Knight to live up to his name.’
Li Wei put down the letters and opened the money pouch.
Inside the pouch was a slip of paper.
"June manuscript: 13 gold, 20 silver. Treasure Basin Commerce Association Desert Region profit share: 68 gold, 88 silver, 88 copper."
A look of surprise appeared on Li Wei’s face.
’That’s so much money!’
’Just how many copies of *Dragon Knight* did the Treasure Basin Commerce Association sell?’
In Maple City, a copy of *Dragon Knight* was priced at 10 Copper Coins.
The price was slightly higher in other cities.
This was his cut of the royalties. The Treasure Basin Commerce Association must have earned at least four or five times his share.
This meant the Treasure Basin Commerce Association had sold at least three or four hundred thousand copies of *Dragon Knight* in the Desert Region alone.
To date, the Xinghuo Literature Society had published thirty-six installments of *Dragon Knight*.
The content had become richer over time, evolving from pure text to now including simple illustrations.
This made it more and more engaging for readers.
Considering all that, the sales figures weren’t actually that surprising.
It averaged out to just over ten thousand copies per installment.
Li Wei smiled. ’I guess you could say I’ve broken ten thousand average sales per issue, huh?’
This was a dream that had been completely out of reach for him in his previous life.
Yet he had unexpectedly achieved it in this Otherworld.
Not that he cared about such things anymore.
Li Wei put the money away, picked up his pen, and began to write furiously.
He wrote nonstop until two in the afternoon, only stopping when his stomach started to growl.
He sent the Shadow Attendant to get him something to eat.
"Magic Butler, claim this month’s benefits."
"This month’s benefits have been credited. Please check."
Li Wei flipped over his Magic Badge. The number on the back had changed to "7".
Li Wei wrote a little more before the Shadow Attendant returned with his lunch.
After lunch, he rested for a bit.
He spent the afternoon meditating to cultivate his Mana, continued writing his manuscript in the evening, and practiced his Magic in his dreams late at night.
Five days later, Li Wei handed the manuscript to Jimmy, who had come by repeatedly to hurry him along.
Li Wei said with a smile, "Next time, remember to remind me earlier, or I’ll just forget."
Jimmy nodded. "Don’t worry, Li Wei, sir. You can count on me."
"Of course, not too frequently. No need to be like these past few days. Just a reminder every once in a while is fine."
Li Wei quickly stopped him, telling him not to push too hard.
"You won’t be disappointed with this installment’s manuscript," Li Wei said with a knowing smile.
Jimmy took the manuscript and headed back to the Xinghuo Literature Society.
He began flipping through the manuscript as he walked.
He wasn’t expecting much. Reading it was more of a habit, a simple desire to see what would happen next to the protagonist, Mo Lei.
But as soon as he started reading, he was captivated.
When he reached the end, his face was a mask of shock. ’Holy shit! You can actually do that?’
"Get out of the way if you don’t want to die!"
WHOOSH!
A horse-drawn carriage whizzed past.
Jimmy broke out in a cold sweat. He didn’t dare try to read and walk at the same time again.
After recovering from the shock, he clutched the manuscript and ran toward the Xinghuo Literature Society.
"Director Gus! This is Li Wei’s new manuscript! The plot is insane! It’s going to be a massive hit next month!"
Jimmy burst into the office excitedly.
Monis was also in Gus’s office; the two of them were in the middle of a discussion.
Seeing Jimmy’s frantic state, Gus chided him, "How many times have I told you to knock before you enter? Don’t be so impetuous."
Monis said, "Go easy on him. Let’s see what Li Wei wrote that has Jimmy so worked up."
After they both read it, they looked as if a whole new world had just opened up to them.
"This is possible?"
Gus was utterly shocked.
Monis also had a complicated expression on his face, feeling as if his entire worldview had been challenged.
So that’s what a Dragon Knight was. Not the kind of Dragon Knight people imagined, but *that* kind of Dragon Knight.
’But can a Giant Dragon really turn into a human?’ he wondered.
He’d heard plenty of stories about an Evil Dragon kidnapping a Princess, but this was the first time he had ever seen a Dragon Knight who... *rides* a dragon.
