Chapter 125: Taking Stock of the Spoils
Chapter 125: Taking Stock of the Spoils
Li Wei watched as the Golden Anteater entered the mine and returned underground.
Before leaving, the Golden Anteater glanced back at Li Wei.
Li Wei called out, "There’s one of your kind down there, so you won’t be lonely. Go on now."
Allen glanced at him and handed a smaller ring to Reina. "This is a Beast Taming Ring. It’s part of a set with the other one."
"The one holding this Beast Taming Ring can control the other to restrict or release the Magic Beast’s power."
"If you’re not staying at the mine, find someone trustworthy and give it to them."
Reina nodded, took the Beast Taming Ring, and said, "Thank you, Mage Allen."
Although the Ant King was dead, the Iron-Eating Ants had not disappeared.
Even including the thousands of Iron-Eating Ants Allen had killed, a large number of them still survived underground in the mine.
Managing these Iron-Eating Ants was a major problem.
Scattered Iron-Eating Ants were even harder to manage.
Li Wei bringing the Golden Anteater to Allen had solved his most pressing issue.
As long as the number of Iron-Eating Ants could be kept within a certain limit, they could resume normal mining of the Secret Silver Ore.
Completely eradicating the Iron-Eating Ants was basically impossible.
After dealing with the Golden Anteater, Li Wei bid farewell to Allen and Reina and left the camp.
Reina watched Li Wei’s retreating figure and said, "Summoner Timo is very special."
Allen nodded. "He is a bit special, and very mysterious."
"Even I feel like I can’t see through him."
Reina glanced at Allen, a little surprised.
She turned to look into the distance, where Li Wei’s figure had already become a small black dot.
"Indeed. There’s a lot of mystery about him."
Only after he had gone some distance did Li Wei remember something.
’I forgot to ask about Lei An... sigh...’
It was because he had been so eager to get away that he’d forgotten about it.
Otherwise, he definitely would have asked Reina to confirm Lei An’s true identity.
’By the way, where on earth did Lei An and Lilith go?’
Li Wei found it a bit strange.
He had clearly followed the two of them out of the mine.
But after he got out, he didn’t see them anywhere.
’Forget it. I won’t worry about them. I’ll head back first.’
He used his old method: the Shadow Attendant controlled a wild beast, which carried Li Wei as it galloped back to Maple City.
Li Wei rubbed his sore backside and walked toward the city gate.
"That wolf-dog runs pretty fast, but its back is bony. It’s not as comfortable as riding a wild bear."
"I’ll modify the Invisibility Armor Spell model later. Then you can just carry me on your back."
The Shadow Attendant looked at him, saying nothing.
’Don’t you have your own feet?’
As they neared the city wall, the Shadow Attendant disguised itself as Li Wei’s shadow and slipped into the city.
Returning to the Mage Tower, Li Wei discovered that Gu Ze, Rota, and the others had not yet come back.
’I hope Teacher Gu Ze is okay and returns safely.’
Besides praying for him, there was nothing else he could do.
He hadn’t seen Gu Ze or Rota since the mine collapsed.
Li Wei first went to the library to do some last-minute cramming, searching for books related to Spiritual Brands and Spatial Rings.
It was already evening when Li Wei finally left the library.
He toyed with a black ring. "This should just about do it."
Following the book’s instructions, Li Wei even spent 2 Contribution points to buy a small bottle of Dissociation Potion to soak the Spatial Ring in.
Dissociation Potion was a Potion needed when extracting the essence of materials.
Normally, only Pharmacists and Alchemists would use it.
Using Dissociation Potion to remove a residual Spiritual Brand was a very obscure piece of knowledge.
Li Wei had been lucky to stumble upon it.
Otherwise, he would have had to use a more advanced Potion—a Spiritual Brand Stripping Potion.
That was something he couldn’t afford.
The Dissociation Potion could only remove a *residual* Spiritual Brand.
If the Spiritual Brand were intact, the Dissociation Potion wouldn’t be able to permeate the Spatial Ring and would thus be ineffective.
Back in his room, Li Wei took stock of his haul.
One Tier Three Demon Core from the Ant King, and two Tier Two Demon Cores from Iron-Eating Ants.
One of the latter came from Wilder’s Spatial Ring.
Seven Tier One Demon Cores from unknown Magic Beasts, all from Wilder’s Spatial Ring.
One piece of Ant King Armor and four chunks of Secret Silver Ore.
A pile of miscellaneous items of unknown value.
The spoils Li Wei had looted himself—a dagger, a Heart-Protecting Mirror, a Golden Ring...
And from Wilder’s Spatial Ring, a change of Mage Robes, a few unfamiliar Potions, and a pile of strange Magic Materials...
CLATTER, CLINK, CLANK!
Gold Coins, Silver Coins, and Copper Coins tumbled onto the table.
Li Wei poured out all the money.
After counting, there were a total of thirty-six Gold Coins, three hundred seventy-two Silver Coins, and two hundred twenty-one Copper Coins.
In total, it was less than forty Gold Coins.
Most of it had belonged to Wilder.
Unlike Wilder, who had a Spatial Ring, the others hadn’t been carrying their entire fortunes on them.
Not counting the items he hadn’t sold yet, the cash Li Wei had on hand now broke the two-hundred-gold mark.
Including everything, his net worth was well into four figures.
A satisfied smile appeared on Li Wei’s face.
This haul was enormous.
Besides these items, the most important thing was, of course, the Spatial Ring itself.
Spatial Rings were not only extremely valuable but also incredibly rare and sought-after.
An ordinary person would never have the chance to obtain a Spatial Ring.
Li Wei thought about what he needed to do next.
’First, I have to find a way to refine the Mithril.’
’Then, I need to find an opportunity to sell the Demon Cores and the other stuff I don’t need for cash.’
’There’s no rush for any of this. I’ll take it slow.’
Li Wei felt he was getting a little too excited.
He thought he needed to cool down a bit.
He didn’t want to get carried away and do something stupid.
He hadn’t even done his Cultivation today.
Li Wei seized the moment and began to meditate and cultivate.
He also used the meditation and Cultivation to calm his excited heart.
By the time he finished meditating to cultivate his Mana, it was late at night.
After taking a shower, Li Wei lay down on his bed to sleep, casting the "Great Dream Traveling Skill" to enter the dreamscape.
In the dreamscape, he began working on the Invisibility Armor Spell, trying to give it a transformative function that would allow the Shadow Attendant to carry him directly.
The Shadow Attendant brand all-terrain transport was coming soon.
A night passed, and Li Wei had calmed down.
The work on the Invisibility Armor Spell was still in progress.
He wasn’t willing to sacrifice the Invisibility Armor’s original properties just to achieve his goal.
As a result, progress was relatively slow.
He estimated it would still take some time to achieve the desired function.
Li Wei began searching Maple City for someone who could refine Mithril.
The simplest method was to post a commission at the Professional Association.
"I’d like to post an anonymous commission."
Li Wei went to the main hall of the Professional Association and spoke to a beautiful female attendant.
"Of course. Please wait a moment and fill out this commission form."
The attendant handed Li Wei a form.
After filling out the commission details, he looked at the payment section and was stumped.
’How much should I offer?’
If the reward was too low, no one would be willing to take it.
Or, those who did accept it wouldn’t be skilled enough to meet Li Wei’s requirements.
But if the reward was too high, Li Wei would hate to waste the money.
The attendant glanced at the commission details. "For a commission to refine Mithril, the standard reward is ten percent of the refined Mithril."
"The higher the purity, the higher the percentage required for the reward."
"Ten percent of the Mithril?" Li Wei’s face twitched.
That was a total rip-off!
"Forget it. I’m not posting the commission."
Li Wei left the Professional Association and returned to the Mage Tower.
He decided to learn how to refine Mithril himself.
After all, as long as he was willing to grind, he could learn anything.
