Chapter 301: Study Well

Chapter 301: Study Well

Xu Xiangbei playfully tapped Ouyang Jiahui’s handsome nose and promised, "Don’t worry, with Brother Xu’s persistent efforts, those thugs won’t cause any more trouble at the Emperor’s Pavilion."

Suddenly, Xu Xiangbei’s phone rang. It was Mr. Thomas: "Hello, Dr. Xu, I’ve returned from my travels, and I’ve prepared the video of Xiao Ye Fengcang’s previous duels for you to see."

Xu Xiangbei was thrilled: "Mr. Thomas, I invite you to join us for lunch at the Emperor Pavilion Hotel."

After hanging up, Xu Xiangbei said to Xiao Lin, "We have a foreign friend joining us for lunch; he’s also the president of Three Lions Entertainment. How about it? Do you want to join us? If you’re uncomfortable, I can refuse him."

Upon hearing they would lunch with the head of the famous Hollywood company Three Lions Entertainment, Ouyang Jiahui and Xiao Lin were both filled with anticipation.

Ouyang Jiahui shook her exploding grapefruit hairstyle, excitedly saying, "If we get to know him well, we could develop our careers in Hollywood together."

Xiao Lin smiled subtly, "However, Westerners have a different aesthetic than Huaxia people. What they find beautiful isn’t always what we think. I wonder if they’ll appreciate your beauty."

Ouyang Jiahui dismissed it, "Regardless of whether they appreciate it, my beauty is objectively present."

Xu Xiangbei nearly spat out the soup dumpling he had just eaten, "Dear niece, we’re becoming more like relatives. They say nieces resemble uncles; you’re becoming just as shameless as I am."

Whoosh, a pair of chopsticks came flying over.

At noon, in the private room at Emperor’s Pavilion.

Thomas, wearing a straw hat and a colorful ribbon around his waist, had just returned from a trip to an ethnic minority area, and he couldn’t stop praising the beautiful scenery he saw there.

Even though he had returned for half a day, he was still immersed in the excitement of the past few days.

Seeing Ouyang Jiahui and Xiao Lin, Thomas extended his hand like a gentleman: "Having lunch with two beautiful ladies is a greater reward than my travels."

Xu Xiangbei smiled, pointing to the cloisonné porcelain bowl containing beef and seafood balls, "This is a delicacy from Earth Sea, specially recommended for Mr. Thomas."

Thomas looked curious, scooping up a small, red-and-green ball with a strainer.

Considering the refined taste of foreigners like Thomas, Zhou Ping made the fist-sized balls half their original size and prepared cumin, salad dressing, and other dips, offering various flavors like salty, sweet and sour, or spicy, depending on preference.

After eating one, Thomas was immediately excited, praising it continuously and giving it a thumbs up, "Delicious, truly delicious."

Xu Xiangbei smiled, "I plan to invest in this hotel. If Mr. Thomas likes it, I hope you visit often. For you, it’ll be completely free."

Thomas was delighted. Since Xu Xiangbei said it would be free, he took it as a friendly gesture, a kind of honor, and agreed without any reservations.

"I will definitely visit often. Thank you, Dr. Xu."

At the end of the lunch, when the fruit was served, Mr. Thomas and Xu Xiangbei went to Boss Zhou’s office.

Boss Zhou had specially brewed a pot of premium pre-rain West Lake Longjing tea.

Xu Xiangbei and Thomas sat on the sofa, and Xu Xiangbei poured a cup of clear, bright Longjing tea for Thomas, its fragrance enticing and refreshing.

Thomas, being somewhat knowledgeable about Huaxia, had tasted a lot of good tea and immediately recognized the exquisite taste of pre-rain Longjing.

In a surge of literary enthusiasm, he smiled and recited a line of poetry: "Good tea, truly like jade leaves entering a spiritual spring, grand like a dragon, with fragrance that invigorates the body like an immortal."

Xu Xiangbei laughed, "Mr. Thomas, you have real elegance, and you even understand ancient texts."

"The Huaxia culture is profound and extensive, and I enjoy studying it a bit."

Thomas took a USB drive from his pocket and handed it to Xu Xiangbei.

"Since you let me savor fine foods and tea, I have a gift for you. Inside are videos of Xiao Ye Fengcang in duels with others. I hope you study them well. They will definitely help in your martial arts contests."

Xu Xiangbei inserted the USB drive into his laptop, revealing two videos of Xiao Ye Fengcang in duels, one from the year before last and one from last year.

Xu Xiangbei first opened the video from the year before last.

Xiao Ye Fengcang looked very young, no older than thirty, and could even be described as handsome and suave. He wore a Japanese-style kimono, with large and small samurai sabers on either side.

His expression was calm, with eyes as still as water, kneeling straight in the ring, motionless, like a pine tree weathered by centuries of frost.

The audience surrounding the ring was packed, engulfed in screams, shouts, and swearing, some even threw mineral water bottles into the ring.

His opponent was a burly man wielding a baseball bat, wearing only boxer shorts, shirtless, his physique similar to Boxing King Jason, muscles bulging like solid stone.

The man had black ink smeared on his face, with eyes fierce as a vicious wolf, holding the baseball bat high, constantly roaring and stomping, demonstrating against Xiao Ye Fengcang.

The burly man, like a rampaging primitive savage, waved the baseball bat filled with iron nails, which seemed larger than Xiao Ye Fengcang’s head.

Faced with the burly man’s provocation and taunts, Xiao Ye Fengcang remained quietly kneeling, seemingly unfazed by anything, as if the two were in completely different worlds of movement and stillness.

The referee next to him blew the whistle and waved his arm, indicating the start of the duel.

The savage-like burly man raised the baseball bat, his facial muscles twisted, charging at Xiao Ye Fengcang like a demon.

Suddenly, a flash of cold light, a fleeting shadow, nothing was visible. The burly man clutched his throat, the baseball bat dropped at his feet, his eyes staring blankly ahead, his expression terrified as if seeing a ghost.

As he retreated slowly, he fell backward like a felled tree, crashing down and raising dust in the ring.

At first, there was no blood from his neck, but once he fell completely, blood began to ooze from his throat, spraying out from his fingers like a fountain.

Yet Xiao Ye Fengcang stayed quietly kneeling on the spot like a dummy, not moving at all.

This video resembled a fictional horror movie scene, filled with gore and death.

Thomas, however, reminded Xu Xiangbei, "This isn’t a movie scene but last year’s underground duel, which I got from Qiao Mountain."

Xu Xiangbei nodded, his expression stern, without responding, silently watching the scene, unaware that cold sweat had started to drip down his forehead.

It took slow-motion at a quarter speed for Xu Xiangbei to finally see Xiao Ye Fengcang rise, draw the saber, strike, and sheath it in a fluid motion like clouds flowing smoothly.
