Gorgeous Female Tenants

Chapter 244: Homesick Feelings

Chapter 244: Homesick Feelings

Gu Xinyan admired the beautiful night view through the apartment’s floor-to-ceiling windows.

The night in Earth Sea is a brilliant sea of lights, with colorful glimmers swirling everywhere, dancing in an endless flow.

They bring a feeling of warmth, especially to travelers far from home, soothing the faint homesickness within.

She had just made a call to chat with her sister, sharing her experiences in Earth Sea; usually, they talk face-to-face, but today’s call felt particularly intimate.

Alone as a stranger in a strange land, holidays heighten the longing for family. After hanging up, a wave of loneliness surged back.

She glanced at the wall clock; it was already past one in the morning, yet Xu Xiangbei hadn’t returned. That kid, who knows where he’s off to having fun.

For some reason, she began to worry about Xu Xiangbei, her mind racing with thoughts, picking up the phone, even dialing his number but not pressing call.

Though it was late and she felt extremely weary, without Xu Xiangbei’s return, she couldn’t find peace and fall asleep.

Just as she was considering whether to call him, suddenly, she heard Xu Xiangbei opening the door. Every time he opened the door, it banged loudly, and he whistled cheerfully. It seemed he was in a good mood.

Passing by Gu Xinyan’s bedroom, Xu Xiangbei shouted without regard to whether she was asleep: "Fairy Sister, are you asleep? Want me to pour you a glass of water?"

When a weasel wishes the chicken a Happy New Year, it surely harbors ill intent. Offering to pour me water, what is he up to? She replied, "I’ve already slept, thanks."

Xu Xiangbei, grinning cheekily, said, "If you’re asleep, you can still answer me. Is this sleep-talking?"

She replied irritably, "I fell asleep long ago, but you woke me up again. Please, whether here or at Spring Villa, when you return at night, keep it quiet and don’t disturb me. This is a matter of personal etiquette."

Xu Xiangbei was still at her bedroom door: "Heh heh, if I didn’t come back, could you sleep? You must be thinking about me, huh."

His words hit the nail on the head; Gu Xinyan’s heart fluttered, and her face turned warm.

Slightly annoyed, she muttered, "Who’s thinking about you, so self-absorbed. Do you have any sense of decency?"

She leaned against the door, secretly listening for signs, hearing Xu Xiangbei returning to his bedroom; bam, the door closed with a loud crash.

Unable to hold back, she shouted, "Are you intending to break Sister Ouyang’s door? Can’t you close it gently?"

Creak, Xu Xiangbei opened the door and stepped out again, chuckling: "Thanks for the reminder, I’ll keep that in mind."

Slam, Xu Xiangbei gently shut the door, making Gu Xinyan laugh: "What a fool, was it necessary to close the door again?"

Living in this unfamiliar apartment does cause some worry; only when Xu Xiangbei returned could Gu Xinyan sleep soundly, finally drifting off into a deep slumber.

The next morning, the pounding knocks on the door awakened both Gu Xinyan and Xu Xiangbei.

Xu Xiangbei, drowsy-eyed, opened the door: "Who is it, trying to break in?"

Turns out it was Ouyang Jiahui hammering the door.

She glanced at Xu Xiangbei’s toned abs with a slightly lewd look in her eyes: "You two lazy pigs, the sun’s shining on your butts and you’re still not up. I put breakfast on the table; eat it yourself. I’m swamped with work lately, can’t accompany you guys. Enjoy your freedom."

The life of urban white-collar workers seems sophisticated and dignified, yet they’re overwhelmed, lacking time for breakfast.

Ouyang Jiahui hastily stuffed a bun in her mouth and rushed out of the apartment.

Simon, who constantly disagreed with her, suddenly resigned; now she’s in charge of the column Simon managed. A mountain of tasks landed on her shoulders.

Gu Xinyan opened the door, seeing Xu Xiangbei standing in the living room wearing only shorts and grinning wickedly at her, her face flushed again: "Hey, can you have some decency?"

Xu Xiangbei stuffed two soup dumplings in his mouth, raised his leg, showing off his boxers, teasing: "Heh heh, I’m already decent. I’m still wearing briefs inside, want to check?"

Gu Xinyan felt Xu Xiangbei’s actions were too vulgar, her delicate face blushing as she turned away, tucking stray hair behind her ear.

Slightly annoyed, she said, "Shameless, who cares how many pairs of underwear you’re wearing. Don’t get me wrong, I meant eat properly, not like it’s your first bun ever."

She wheeled herself into the bathroom, sensing Xu Xiangbei’s leer.

She worriedly warned, "I’m going to shower in the bathroom. Don’t come in if I don’t come out. Seems like the bathroom door lock had issues yesterday, even if locked, a firm push would open it."

Xu Xiangbei, like a wolf smelling a lamb, craned his neck, greedy and eager. "Oh, the lock has issues? Then lock the door from inside while showering. I’ll test if it can be pushed open."

The realization made Gu Xinyan uneasy, her neck reddened from embarrassment, regretting revealing the lock problem; it felt like pleading innocence while hiding silver.

She hurried inside, shut the door securely, fearing Xu Xiangbei would barge in during her shower, propping the door with a mop.

Through the bathroom door, she called out, "While I’m inside, don’t come in."

Xu Xiangbei chuckled, eating buns, less concerned about the bathroom; he thought to himself, finish breakfast first.

He gobbled several pan-fried dumplings; Earth Sea’s pan-fried buns were truly delicious, crispy outside yet tender inside, juicy and flavorful, leaving him wanting more.

Soon, the bathroom echoed with water sounds. Listening, Xu Xiangbei’s mind vividly imagined Gu Xinyan bathing, wiping his mouth with a napkin, revealing a lascivious smile, tiptoeing toward the bathroom.

His heart itched like a cat’s scratch, contemplating whether to push the bathroom door, testing if the lock really had issues as Gu Xinyan mentioned.

At that pivotal moment, like a script unfolding, someone inevitably interrupted. The doorbell rang unexpectedly.

Xu Xiangbei had no choice but to answer; who’s interrupting my locksmithing?

A large, black-suited man appeared, strong and burly, sunglasses perched, face stern. Seeing Xu Xiangbei, he nodded slightly, respectfully: "Are you Mr. Xu, Xu Xiangbei?"

Xu Xiangbei raised an eyebrow: "I’m Xu Xiangbei, and you are?"
