Chapter 237: The Elusive Jenny

The Thunderbird Company’s office building towers majestically, with a unified array of blue glass curtain walls. Under the sun, it gleams like a giant sapphire, with four large signs of Thunderbird Technology standing tall on the rooftop.

Xu Xiangbei admired Liu Ningyan’s foresight; finding such a wealthy company to cooperate with is sure to be profitable.

Xiao Lin noticed Xu Xiangbei’s expression of amazement and briefly introduced: "The Thunderbird Company has made quite a bit from game development in recent years, with several games becoming popular worldwide. The black Land Rover drove directly into the underground parking lot. Xu Xiangbei checked the time; it was just after two, with a meeting planned for three at the entrance to meet Liu Ningyan, so there was still time.

Xu Xiangbei grinned cheekily: "The person I’m waiting for hasn’t arrived yet, can I visit your place? Are you welcoming guests?"

Xiao Lin smiled indifferently: "Sure, I’m alone too. Come up with me first. I’ll show you President Lei’s office."

Xu Xiangbei laughed: "What’s there to see in an office. Are there a lot of beauties?"

"You think too much. You’ll see when you get there."

Xiao Lin smiled mysteriously, saying no more. Xu Xiangbei followed her into the elevator, which slowly ascended to the 30th floor, and stopped with a ding.

As the elevator doors slowly opened, Xu Xiangbei was stunned by the scene; had he not known it was the top floor of the Thunderbird Company, he would have thought he had stumbled onto an alien battleground.

The whole floor was covered in crimson sand and dotted with strange rocks, along with various life-size models that looked astonishingly real upon closer inspection, all game character models.

These game characters are from games developed by the Thunderbird Company in recent years.

Along the glass curtain wall surrounding the building lay a layer of railway tracks, and an old-fashioned train, clanking and clattering, was arriving from a distance.

In a blazing carriage at the center stood a pristine white desk, empty, with a young man dressed in a gleaming Golden Silk Armor sitting leisurely in an armchair, intently tapping on the table.

Xu Xiangbei chuckled internally; this young man was truly eccentric, not only wearing COSPLAY outfits from games but also constantly tapping the table. Could he be an obsessed fan?

As the train gradually moved closer, Xu Xiangbei finally noticed that the shining desk was not empty but had a holographic image resembling a computer screen, filled with dense programs.

Due to the visual angle, Xu Xiangbei hadn’t initially seen the holographic display hovering above the desk.

The desk surface was actually a touchscreen, displaying a standard computer keyboard, and the young man’s hands were flying across the keyboard, swiftly typing programs.

As someone entered, the young man glanced sideways, and upon seeing Xiao Lin, his eyes lit up. He tapped a key gently, and the train stopped in front of Xu Xiangbei and Xiao Lin.

The young man jumped off the little train, quickly approached Xiao Lin courteously and enthusiastically: "Miss Xiao, you’re here, would you like something to drink? I can have my assistant make you coffee."

The young man had fine features and fair skin, but seemed overly slender and frail. He wore glasses with gold rims, exuding an elegant demeanor.

Xiao Lin discreetly smiled: "President Lei, no need for formalities. I don’t drink coffee; just a bottle of mineral water will do."

"What President Lei! Just call me Lei Ziming; we’re not much different in age."

Xu Xiangbei marveled internally, noting that despite his youth, the young man was surprisingly the head of a billion-dollar company, accomplished and capable.

Unwilling to be left out, Xu Xiangbei interjected: "President Lei, I’ll have coffee."

Young President Lei glanced at Xu Xiangbei, with a curious look at Xiao Lin, wondering who she had brought along.

Xiao Lin understood instantly, smiling as she introduced Xu Xiangbei: "This is my friend, Dr. Xu. He’s scheduled to visit your company today, so he’s come along with me."

President Lei seemed slightly tense: "Is he your friend, or your boyfriend?"

"Just a regular friend; we only met two days ago."

Hearing they were just acquaintances from two days ago, President Lei visibly relaxed.

He warmly extended his hand towards Xu Xiangbei, with a soft grip but an amiable smile: "Hello, Dr. Xu, which specialty are you in?"

Xu Xiangbei grinned wickedly: "I’m a urologist; does President Lei have any related ailments?"

President Lei was momentarily stunned, slow to react to Xu Xiangbei’s humor.

With a giggle, Xiao Lin was entertained by Xu Xiangbei; realizing her laughter was somewhat indiscreet, she quickly covered her mouth, laughing silently: "President Lei, don’t listen to him. He’s just joking with you."

Seeing President Lei startled by his jest, Xu Xiangbei explained: "Hehe, I’m a consultant at Jiangcheng Renmin Hospital. If President Lei feels uncomfortable anywhere, I can take a look for free."

Offering to check up on someone upon meeting is not typically acceptable, even for a young CEO with modern views, prompting a wry smile: "No need, thank you, Dr. Xu."

President Lei focused on Xiao Lin, feeling she was a ray of sunshine that lifted his spirits just by being present. He clapped his hands, prompting a clean, ivory-white sofa to rise slowly from the ground.

"Miss Xiao, Dr. Xu, please have a seat."

Sitting down felt like sinking into cotton, soft and comfortable, evidently made of high-grade latex.

President Lei walked to a towering, strange rock, pressing gently to release a beam of light and a cool breeze. In awe, Xu Xiangbei exclaimed: "What is this thing?"

Xiao Lin displayed an expression trying to suppress laughter. Laughing too much could compromise her professional image as a model, yet her restrained humor made her look peculiar.

She had evidently been to this office before, unfazed by the glowing anomalous rock.

President Lei smiled towards Xu Xiangbei, reached into the rock, and pulled out a bottle of mineral water.

Xu Xiangbei displayed a mortified expression, laughing self-deprecatingly: "Turns out it’s a refrigerator. President Lei, you’re quite the prankster."

With a ding, the elevator doors opened, and a beauty dressed in blue work attire stepped in with a coffee pot, her smile as refined as a flight attendant’s.

Xu Xiangbei stared blankly, fixating on the beauty carrying the coffee pot.

Although the beauty acted as if she didn’t recognize Xu Xiangbei, he immediately recognized her as Jenny, who had been mysteriously appearing around him recently.
