Chapter 139: Li Sandao

Chapter 139: Li Sandao

Seeing the man being respectful, Xu Xiangbei put his arm around his shoulder like a friend: "Come on, let’s go find your boss Li Sandao, I want to play fast knives with him."

Looking at the man lying on the ground, Zhang Xuesong asked, "What should we do with him?"

"You just keep an eye on him here, call the police, and when they arrive, hand him over to them."

Zhang Xuesong pushed up his glasses, looking worried. He’s good at treating patients, but watching over a burly robber was another matter: "What if he wakes up? I can’t fight him."

Xu Xiangbei gave a sinister grin: "Don’t worry, he won’t be able to walk for three days, let alone fight. He won’t even have the strength to carry two pounds of soy sauce, so you can relax."

Hearing this, Zhang Xuesong puffed up his chest and felt emboldened: "Then I’ll go wait for you at Customer Returns Restaurant, it’s just ahead. Come back quickly, we’ll eat early and return to Jiangcheng, I still have things to do at the hospital."

"It shouldn’t take long, you go to the restaurant first."

Seeing his companion unconscious, the man holding his wrist flashed a look of terror on his face, fortunate that he answered truthfully, or his fate would be as miserable as his companion’s.

The man who took the briefcase ran back to the villa; he’s the sixth of the Eight Great Vajras. Except for Lao Qi and Lao Ba, there were six of them present.

Still shaken, he explained the situation to boss Li Sandao: "That guy is formidable, a skilled martial artist. Lao Qi and Lao Ba were both knocked down by him. Luckily, I ran fast. Boss, you have to help us take revenge."

After rummaging through the briefcase for a long time and finding not even a coin, Lao Wu reluctantly tossed it into the corner: "Boss, the case is genuine leather, worth some money. Inside, all rubbish receipts."

Li Sandao’s face darkened. He resented the interruption by Lao Liu, ruining his mahjong game where he’d just held a good hand.

Li Sandao glared at Lao Liu, reprimanding: "Isn’t the opponent just one guy? You three couldn’t handle him? How do you usually stick with me? Lao Liu, call up Fatty Cui from West City Martial Arts School. We’ve often treated them to meals and drinks. Didn’t he brag about his Iron Cloth Shirt’s eighteen layers? Have him deal with that guy."

Lao Liu quickly made the call: "Fatty Cui, we’ve hit a tough spot, that guy’s trained. Hurry over and help us, and we’ll treat you to dinner afterwards."

Fatty Cui’s voice came over the line excitedly: "Alright, Brother Liu, let Brother Sandao know we’ll be right there."

Li Sandao grumbled: "This Fatty Cui can eat like no other, damn it, he can eat enough for three people alone. Last time, just three of them ate up five hundred bucks worth of food, all profit from my morning’s work went to him."

His words brought bursts of laughter from his companions: "That Fatty Cui must weigh three hundred pounds, two hundred of which came from eating our food."

After a few more rounds of mahjong, Li Sandao finally won a hand, joyfully collecting his winnings and glancing at the clock on the wall: "Why hasn’t Fatty Cui arrived yet? I’ve finished another round."

There came a knocking at the door, Lao Liu peered through the peephole and exclaimed in surprise: "Oh, Lao Qi is back."

He hurried to open the door, but instead of Lao Qi, it was Xu Xiangbei who walked in, cheerfully greeting them: "Hello everyone, which one of you is Li Sandao? I’m here to play with you."

Three large machetes and two extended electric batons were pointed at Xu Xiangbei. Only Li Sandao remained seated, unmoved, giving Xu Xiangbei a cold glance: "Who are you?"

Lao Liu paled with fear, his hand holding the knife trembling involuntarily: "Boss, this is the martial artist who beat up our guys."

Li Sandao sneered with an eerie tone: "Lao Qi, you’re alright? Did you bring him here?"

Lao Qi, clutching his broken wrist, replied: "My hand’s broken, he said he wants to see who’s quicker with a knife."

Xu Xiangbei casually waved away the glistening knife tip before him, grinning cheekily: "Don’t be afraid, I’m just one person. You have one, two, three, seven guys, afraid of just one of me? I’m Xu Xiangbei, a humble doctor, here to play, not fight."

Lao Liu scoffed: "Hah, you dream of challenging the boss with knives? Everyone knows Brother Sandao’s blade is as fast as lightning. Who do you think you are?"

Xu Xiangbei swung the bag he held in his hand, grinning cheekily: "I heard you’re swift with the blade, I came especially to learn from you. Let’s play a game, you stab me with your knife, I’ll take your knife. If I can’t take the knife from you, I lose, and this bag with two hundred thousand is yours. If I take your knife, you lose, and return the money stolen from the granny back to her, it’s her life-saving medicine money. Simple rules, how about it?"

The six men glanced at each other then looked to Li Sandao. Li Sandao lost interest in mahjong, stood up, wearing a sinister smile.

He extended his right hand, revealing a small, sharp blade, which moved swiftly between his fingers.

Xu Xiangbei instantly recognized it, a surgical blade made of black carbon steel, extremely sharp, capable of cutting through steel rebar with sufficient force.

Li Sandao’s reputation was well-deserved, unfortunately, he squandered his skills on wrongdoing.

Li Sandao sneered: "Mention my name, Li Sandao, who doesn’t know me here? You dare challenge me on speed? If you get hurt, don’t expect me to pay for medical expenses."

Li Sandao approached Xu Xiangbei with pride, drawing closer.

In a sudden move, his blade hand drew a silver flash, aiming at Xu Xiangbei’s arm just like lightning. Lao Qi behind Xu Xiangbei gasped in shock.

Li Sandao was quick, but Xu Xiangbei was even quicker.

So fast as if he knew Li Sandao’s target, two fingers tapping lightly on Li Sandao’s wrist pulse.

Li Sandao instantly felt weak, his arm went limp, and the blade slipped unwittingly out of his fingers into the palm of Xu Xiangbei’s hand, leaving a shallow cut on the back of his hand.

Xu Xiangbei smiled inscrutably: "Li Sandao, that’s the first cut, you lost. I heard you’re famed for three cuts, let’s play three cuts."

Seeing his bleeding hand, Li Sandao’s face turned green, his lips twitching incessantly. Being injured was minor, but losing face in front of his companions was major.

He glared viciously at Xu Xiangbei, another shiny, sharp blade appearing in his right hand.

This time he didn’t calmly approach Xu Xiangbei, instead crossing both hands repeatedly before his chest, swiftly exchanging blades between hands, moving swiftly like a phantom.

Seeing the boss’s suave and mighty moves, his companions whistled hooligan tunes, cheering him on.
