Gorgeous Female Tenants

Chapter 101 Family Feast

Chapter 101 Family Feast

Nowadays, many people of status and wealth don’t go to restaurants; they rent a plot of land, grow some vegetables, and raise some chickens and ducks. They return to nature, eating organic food.

Secretary-General Li felt his IQ noticeably drop when he was with Xu Xiangbei. He pushed his glasses up his nose and said, "Divine Doctor Xu really makes sense. Why don’t you come to my place for dinner? I’ll call my wife and ask her to come home early and cook." Secretary-General Li dialed his wife Liu Qu’s number, speaking very gently, "Ah Yun, we have an important guest dining with us today. Make several dishes; we’ll be there soon."

An elegant female voice came through the phone, "Oh, aren’t you supposed to be at an important conference these days, staying at the Jinhua Hotel and unable to come back?"

"I changed my mind at the last minute."

"Alright, I have nothing pressing at the moment. I’m heading home now and will pass by the food market. What do you want to eat?"

"Make a few good dishes, like your special pickled fish and sweet and sour pork."

"Alright, see you when you get back."

Secretary-General Li drove a black Hyundai, "Divine Doctor Xu, where are you from? You’re not a local, are you?"

"I’m from Yangzhou, and Secretary-General Li, your accent doesn’t sound local either."

"I’m from Sichuan. After graduation, I was assigned here, settled, and planted my roots. My wife Liu Yun is from Jiangcheng. No need to call me Secretary-General Li; just call me Xiao Li."

Xu Xiangbei smirked mischievously, "I can’t call you Xiao Lizi; that sounds like an eunuch. I’ll call you Lao Li."

Secretary-General Li smiled awkwardly, "My house is just up ahead in Jiangcheng District; we’ll be there soon."

When Secretary-General Li brought Xu Xiangbei home, his wife Liu Yun was already cooking.

Liu Yun looked just like her photo, even more beautiful in person.

She had bright, large eyes, a slender figure, and long, delicate fingers. Though in her thirties, her charm and grace were even more evident.

Although Xu Niang is no longer young, her charm still remains.

She worked as an accountant for a company. Seeing her husband bring home a young man for dinner felt strange, but she smiled politely, "Hello, come in and have a seat."

"Ah Yun, let me introduce you. This is Divine Doctor Xu, who treated Secretary Qin’s back pain of many years, and cured it despite his young age."

"I wouldn’t have guessed. Divine Doctor Xu, you’re really accomplished at a young age. I’m making pickled fish for you today. Please sit; it’ll be ready soon. There are fruits on the table, Li Liang, give some to Divine Doctor Xu."

For the pickled fish, Liu Yun specifically bought a fresh live black fish for slicing.

Instead of going to the living room, Xu Xiangbei stood by the kitchen door, smiling as he watched Liu Yun’s slender figure, "Sister Liu, with your wide hips, you’ll definitely have a son."

Liu Yun was slicing the black fish and nearly cut herself hearing that. Who compliments a hostess’s hips upon their first visit? That’s something meddlesome mothers-in-law say to young brides, not something a young man usually says. Is this even appropriate?

She smiled back gracefully, "Thank you for the compliment."

Secretary-General Li frowned and couldn’t help but smile wryly.

He knew that Xu Xiangbei was straightforward and said whatever came to his mind. He had experienced this before; Xu wasn’t just irritating but infuriating. He wasn’t sure if inviting Xu home was a good or bad idea.

He quickly pulled Xu Xiangbei to the living room, stuffed a banana into his hands, and grabbed some vibrant green tea leaves from the tea box.

"Divine Doctor Xu, have a banana while I make you some tea. This is Longjing Tea from Jiangnan before the rains; it was hard to get it sent over, as you can’t buy it here."

Xu Xiangbei appeared mesmerized, glancing here and there, looking towards the kitchen, "Sister Liu, want some bananas?"

Liu Yun tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and smiled, "Divine Doctor Xu, you go ahead. I have my hands full slicing fish."

"Shall I feed you then?"

Holding up a banana, Xu Xiangbei was about to head to the kitchen, but Secretary-General Li stopped him. To distract Xu, he grabbed two packs of cigarettes from under the coffee table.

"Divine Doctor Xu, I have some Ziguang Marlboro cigarettes from Hong Kong and Cuban large cigars. Which would you prefer?"

Xu Xiangbei envied him, saying, "Haha, you have all these goods stashed away. That’s the perk of being an official; you get all the good stuff gifted to you. I haven’t tried such fancy cigarettes before; let me try one of each."

With good cigarettes to smoke, Xu Xiangbei settled down, seemingly forgetting about Liu Yun in the kitchen.

Secretary-General Li tentatively asked, "Divine Doctor Xu, can you treat my illness?"

Xu Xiangbei was enjoying his Longjing tea and cigar, "Are you talking about your impotence? No need to treat it. Just eat more kidney tonic and drink some aphrodisiac wine, and rest more often. No need to treat."

Hearing how casually Xu spoke, Secretary-General Li was more conflicted, "Didn’t you say my cough, and the, well, whatever you called it was severe, the reason we don’t have kids?"

Xu Xiangbei exhaled some smoke, "Fool, staying up late working, smoking, and hardly sleeping will make anyone cough. It’s not surprising you’d get impotent. It’s a lifestyle issue, not a health problem. No need to treat."

"But..."

"No buts. I was just teasing you to see your temper; it’s actually a sign you’re still very much alive down there. You not having children isn’t because of you."

Secretary-General Li finally understood that Xu Xiangbei was purposefully teasing him at Secretary Qin’s resting area.

He couldn’t help but smile wryly to himself. Despite being cautious, fearing Xu might be a fraud, he fell right into his trap.

He frowned and reminded, "The issue isn’t with my wife either. We’ve both been checked; all the reports are normal."

"I know. This is what’s known as a Yin-Yang discordance, a rare one-in-a-million occurrence. But don’t worry. Since you’re treating me so generously with good food and cigarettes, I’ll definitely help you. We’ll have to start with your wife."

Gratefully, Secretary-General Li held Xu Xiangbei’s hand, "Thank you, Divine Doctor Xu. If we truly have a child, we’ll reward you greatly and even let the child acknowledge you as a godfather."

Xu Xiangbei quickly waved his hands, "No, please. What if it’s a girl? Once she grows up and calls me godfather, others might think I’m taking advantage of her. It mustn’t happen."

Soon, the aroma of sizzling oil and the sound of the exhaust fan came from the kitchen. Xu Xiangbei couldn’t sit still again.

He called out with eagerness, "Sister Liu, need my help? I can cook, you know."

"No need. It’ll be ready soon."

Before long, the dining table was filled with a lavish spread, each dish appetizing and fragrant.
