Chapter 443 - 372: The Plot of Necromancer Modi Caesar
Chapter 443 - 372: The Plot of Necromancer Modi Caesar
A distance of nearly two hundred kilometers was swiftly crossed beneath Baofeng’s iron wings.
Soon, a fortress built of white bones appeared ahead.
It was a fortress built on a swamp highland, constructed entirely from countless white bones. The ghastly white skeletons reflected a grim, cold light in the sun.
Countless skeletons and Bone Beasts, their ghostly green Soul Fire flickering, patrolled inside and outside the Fortress. A thick aura of death surged into the sky, casting a pallid, ashen color over the heavens.
Bone Fortress.
Raylo circled thousands of meters in the air, his pupils constricting slightly.
His previous assumption had been half wrong.
The Jade Swamp’s target was indeed the Black King’s territory, but they weren’t after the Black Dragon itself.
On the plains to the east and south of the Bone Fortress, two immense, dark tides were surging forward.
Countless Snake-man Warriors formed massive phalanxes, wielding Poisoned Curved Sabers and Long Spears. Mixed among them were several thousand ferocious Swamp Magical Beasts. Like a pair of giant pincers, they closed in on the Bone Fortress on the highland.
From high above, Raylo gazed down at the brutal war about to erupt below.
The two Snake-man Legions were like black torrents surging from the swamp, their momentum unstoppable.
At the head of the army formations, two distinct yet equally terrifying auras of Domain Level power surged into the sky without restraint, roiling the heavens.
The eastern legion was led by a giant Snake-man, his size far surpassing that of his kin.
His serpentine tail, nearly ten meters long, lay coiled on the ground. His gnarled muscles bulged with explosive Power.
He was bare-chested, his upper body covered in hideous, twisting, blood-red Magic Patterns. It was as if countless tormented souls were Wailing from within them.
In his hand, he held a menacing War Spear forged from the spine and fangs of some Giant Beast.
Raylo, of course, recognized this old acquaintance.
Blood River.
This Domain Level Powerhouse, a Snake-man from the Jade Swamp, had repeatedly waged war against the Eternal Giant Turtle and Black Stone Territory.
Though he had suffered some setbacks, his formidable strength had allowed him to remain a threat to this day.
At the head of the southern legion, however, was a horrifying monster.
It was an Exotic Snake Monster, twenty meters tall, with three hideous heads: one dark green, one deep purple, and one reddish-brown.
Its three pairs of vertical, bowl-sized pupils glinted with a cold and cruel light. Its crimson tongues flickered in and out, stirring up a foul, gusting wind.
Its enormous body was covered in thick, dense Scale Armor that gleamed with a cold, metallic luster in the sunlight.
The Three-headed Snake Monster, Blood Throat.
Another Domain Level Powerhouse from the Jade Swamp, one with a fearsome reputation.
"DONG! DONG! DONG!"
The heavy thud of war drums sounded from the rear of the Snake-man Army Array.
The next moment, a roar like a tsunami erupted. The two black tides surged forth from opposite ends of the swamp, crashing violently against the pale "reef."
The slaughter erupted in an instant.
The Snake-man Warriors brandished their Poisoned Curved Sabers and Short Spears, clashing with the sea of skeletons.
The massive Swamp Magical Beasts charged headlong into the fray, using their brute strength to smash entire rows of Bone Beasts to smithereens.
However, the Undead Guards of the Bone Fortress seemed endless. They felt no pain and knew no fear, fearlessly carrying out their orders to tear apart any living being that crossed their defensive line.
Ghastly white bone and dark green scale intertwined. The clash of weapons, the crack of shattering bone, the Wailing of the dying, and the shrieks of souls all mingled together.
Just as the battle reached a stalemate, a cold, immense pressure awakened from the top of the Bone Fortress, like a dormant volcano, and instantly enveloped the entire battlefield.
Blood River and Blood Throat froze simultaneously, their gazes drawn in unison to the pinnacle of the Fortress.
A figure had silently appeared there, clad in an opulent black Mage Robe and wearing a Skeleton Crown.
He had no flesh or blood, merely a skeleton shimmering with blue, ethereal flames. Yet, within his empty eye sockets, two points of spectral blue fire seemed to hold the terrifying Power to create and destroy Stars.
In his hand, he held a Bone Staff crafted from the spine of a Domain Level human. At its tip was a black Crystal the size of a human head, within which the dense Power of Death was practically overflowing.
A Witch Demon Mage!
A cold and immense psychic wave swept across the battlefield.
The Witch Demon Mage raised his Bone Staff high, and the black Crystal at its tip blazed with light.
"Death Sky Curtain!"
VMMMMM!
A visible, gray-black halo of light erupted from the Witch Demon Mage, expanding rapidly outwards.
Wherever the halo passed, sunlight was devoured. The sky became shrouded by a thick curtain, as if eternal night had fallen.
The light faded rapidly and the temperature plummeted. A frigid, chilling wind materialized from thin air, swirling up bone dust and dirt from the ground.
Within this Domain shrouded by night, a thick aura of death spread like the tide.
The Soul Fire of every Undead creature flared, and their Power and speed increased astonishingly.
The Snake-man Warriors, on the other hand, felt their Life Force being ruthlessly drained by the darkness, and their movements grew sluggish.
Just then, an even more astounding scene unfolded.
After the Witch Demon’s Domain was unleashed, the Bone Fortress that stood upon the land actually began to "come alive."
KRAK...
KRAK KRAK...
The sound of countless bones grinding and reassembling filled the air, as if an invisible giant hand were kneading the massive structure.
Skulls, ribs, leg bones...
All the bones were undergoing Decomposition, shifting and then reassembling in a new, even more hideous and terrifying configuration.
