Chapter 259 - 253: The Magic Dominator’s "Little Gadgets

Raylo beckoned to Moonlight and Coal Ball beside him.

"Baofeng, let’s go."

The Griffin King let out a clear, ringing cry, then beat its wings and soared high, spiraling up around the Eternal Giant Turtle’s colossal body.

Moonlight transformed into a silver streak, landing lightly on Baofeng’s broad back.

As for Coal Ball, it tore open a spatial rift and blinked directly onto Raylo’s shoulder, curiously sizing up the view below.

They quickly found their target location.

The Eternal Giant Turtle’s carapace was less a single shell and more a continuous, rolling mountain range.

Raylo’s gaze swept over the Armor Plates that rose like hills, each one’s edge glinting with the cold, hard luster of metal and rock.

Time had left its deep mark upon them, crisscrossing them with ravines, like the growth rings of the earth itself.

"That’s the spot."

Following the Sun’s directions, Raylo quickly locked onto the target.

Above the giant turtle’s right hind leg, near the edge of its spine, several pieces of the Turtle Shell had a different color and texture.

They weren’t the usual dark green, but a deep, almost Obsidian-like hue, their surfaces exceptionally smooth as if polished by time for eons.

Baofeng landed smoothly on a relatively flat Armor Plate, folding its wings. The scraping sound of its talons was exceptionally clear on the silent turtle’s back.

Raylo swung himself off and jumped down, the soles of his feet meeting a solid, warm surface.

This piece of Turtle Shell wasn’t cold. Instead, it radiated a faint, enduring warmth, as if from the planet’s very core.

Moonlight leaped gracefully from the Griffin’s back, landing without a sound.

Her silver body stood out against the Obsidian-like Turtle Shell. Her pale gold eyes, filled with scrutiny and curiosity, surveyed the scene.

Meanwhile, Coal Ball poked its little head out of a spatial rift and landed lightly on Raylo’s shoulder, its big, dark eyes full of wonder.

Raylo walked forward slowly, approaching the special pieces of Turtle Shell.

Their surface area wasn’t enormous; each one was about the size of a large round table.

These pieces of Turtle Shell were covered in countless fine engravings.

These markings were not natural, nor were they caused by swords or knives.

They were fluid and precise, filled with a certain ineffable rhythm, as if an artist of extraordinary skill had used the world as a canvas and Magic Power as a carving knife to leave behind their rough drafts.

Most of the engravings were already blurred and indistinct, having nearly vanished after centuries of erosion from wind and rain.

But a few small areas had been perfectly preserved for some unknown reason. The Magic Runes on them were clearly visible and even emitted a faint, ethereal glow in Raylo’s Magic Power senses.

’So this is... the notebook of a Tier Six Magic Dominator.’

Raylo murmured to himself, his heart hammering in his chest against his will.

He crouched down, reached out, and carefully brushed away a thin layer of dust.

The surface was cool and smooth to the touch. When his fingertip touched a complete rune, a faint but incredibly pure stream of Magic Power flowed from it into his finger, jolting his senses.

’These are definitely not ordinary Magic Runes.’

Raylo immediately calmed his mind and began to carefully study these "little trinkets," as the Eternal Giant Turtle had called them.

The Magic preserved on a total of four Turtle Shells was still perfectly intact.

These four were not offensive Magic, but four support-type spells with extremely powerful functions and unbelievably ingenious designs.

Mind Whisper.

An extremely subtle Spiritual Magic. It couldn’t control thoughts or read memories. Its only function was to plant a seed of "Suggestion" in the target’s subconscious.

This Suggestion was so faint it couldn’t be easily detected, but like a seed sprouting in the heart, it would subtly influence the target’s judgment and decisions.

Void Anchor.

A Space Magic!

But it wasn’t for Teleportation or attack. Its function was to establish a permanent "anchor point" at a fixed spatial coordinate.

Once the anchor was set, the Caster could clearly perceive its existence from anywhere and, by expending a huge amount of Magic Power, open a temporary Space Gate to it.

Eye of Truth.

This was a support-type Magic.

It could see through Illusion Techniques, perceive disguises, identify lies, and even analyze the composition of Magic to a certain extent.

Miracle Hand.

This was a support Magic for repairs.

But Raylo instantly thought of countless uses for it.

Restoring damaged ancient relics, reassembling incomplete Magic Scrolls, repairing Magic Artifacts damaged in battle...

Raylo’s fingertips traced the cool Turtle Shell over and over, trying to imitate the exquisite trajectories of Magic Power.

His Spiritual Power sank into them, following the veins of the Magic Runes like a layman trying to glimpse the entirety of a magnificent palace.

He could feel how intricate the structures of these Magic were, layered like a spider’s web yet perfectly unified. He could understand how sublime their principles were, as if they could strip away the false shell of all things to reach their very essence.

But understanding didn’t mean he could master them.

Raylo’s Magic Power was like a horde of barbaric soldiers, capable of charging into battle and razing cities, but unable to pass through the eye of a needle like the silk thread in an embroiderer’s hand.

He tried to guide his Magic Power to construct the most basic runic node of the Eye of Truth, but his power always spun out of control at the most critical juncture, either dissipating or simply shattering the fragile structure.

After several consecutive failures, Raylo stopped, let out a long breath, and gave a self-deprecating smile.

’I was too greedy.’

In the end, he was a Magic Knight. His use of Magic Power was broad and sweeping, focused on instantaneous bursts and the most direct destructive force.

But the four Magic before him were like the most precise instruments, requiring a scholar’s patience, talent, and vast accumulation of knowledge.

’If Master Barnaby or my sister Lillian were here, they might be ecstatic, but to me, this is all Greek.’

’I can’t force it.’

Raylo quickly adjusted his mindset, not the least bit discouraged.

Since he couldn’t learn them on the spot, he would just take them back with him in their entirety.

The value of this legacy left by the Tier Six Magic Dominator had already far exceeded his expectations for this trip.

He took out a stack of special Magic Paper from his Space Ring. This paper was pliable and had excellent adhesion for Magic Power, making it a high-grade material for creating Magic Scrolls.

He then took out a Crystal Bottle containing ink mixed with Secret Silver Powder, which was perfect for flawlessly replicating these Magic Runes and their traces of Magic Power.

This was delicate work.

Raylo leaned over, his expression focused, and began to carefully trace the imprints.

He meticulously copied every single engraving on the Turtle Shell, regardless of its depth.

While he was busy, the two little ones weren’t idle either.

At some point, Moonlight had drifted over to the Turtle Shell engraved with the Eye of Truth.

She paced around the Turtle Shell, stopping now and then, her pale gold eyes fixed on the Magic Runes. Deep within her pupils, it was as if galaxies were swirling.

Suddenly, she extended a paw covered in fine scales and gently pressed it onto the core of the Magic Runes on the Turtle Shell.

In an instant, the faint light of the Magic Runes on the Turtle Shell flashed, echoing the silver glint that lit up the palm of Moonlight’s paw.

She closed her eyes, seemingly sensing something. Her slender neck arched slightly, her expression solemn, as if she were communicating across space and time with a soul from millennia ago.

Coal Ball, on the other hand, was a completely different story.

The little creature was hopping and skipping excitedly in front of the Turtle Shell engraved with the Void Anchor.

It seemed to feel a strong resonance with this top-tier Space Magic of the same origin.

One moment, it was rubbing its little head against the deep grooves; the next, it was clumsily extending a paw, mimicking the engraving motions on the side. The result was a crooked mess with no Magic Power fluctuation, looking more like random scribbling.

Coal Ball wasn’t discouraged. It circled the Turtle Shell a few times, its big, dark eyes shining with excitement and focus.

It stopped in the very center of the Turtle Shell, its small body shuddering violently as a wave of Space Magic Power, far exceeding its size, suddenly erupted.

Raylo had just finished tracing the last Turtle Shell and was carefully rolling up the Magic Paper when he suddenly felt the air beside him twist violently.

He whipped his head around, his pupils contracting sharply.

Right in front of Coal Ball, space tore open like a canvas ripped by an invisible hand, and a fissure appeared out of thin air.

The fissure expanded rapidly, its edges flickering with unstable silver-blue arcs of electricity, letting out a soft CRACKLE.

An oval Space Gate, about the height of a person, abruptly materialized, suspended in mid-air.

’Void Anchor!’

Raylo’s heart pounded.

Before he could even process his shock, he saw the Space Gate begin to flicker violently, like a magical image with a poor signal.

The edges of the gate’s frame began to collapse, with large chunks of spatial fragments flaking off and dissipating into the air.

Obviously, with Coal Ball’s current Magic Power reserves, it was nowhere near enough to sustain such a High Tier Space Technique.

HUMMM!

With a muffled sound, the Space Gate completely collapsed, dissolving into an outward-rippling wave of Magic Power before finally fading into nothing.

On the silent turtle’s back, Coal Ball shook its little head, spun around twice in place as if drunk, and then, with a PLOP, sat its butt on the ground.

Its little chest heaved violently. Its big, dark eyes were filled with exhaustion, but even more so, a sense of smug pride.

It even tried to puff out its chest and let out a show-offish roar in Raylo’s direction.

Raylo walked over quickly, not knowing whether to laugh or cry as he picked up the little creature who had completely exhausted its Magic Power.

Coal Ball nuzzled against his palm, then its head lolled to the side, and it fell fast asleep, a trickle of drool hanging from the corner of its mouth.
